are these die cast hoops on all your shells? and if so are they the s-hoop drum hoops? im looking for a nice pair of die cast hoops, thanks and nice playing!
Hey man, do you still have the original drum tracks you recorded? I'm new to mixing/mastering as well and I'd love to have something to practice with. I have Pro Tools 9 but no drums to use, partly for having no drum mics, and partly for having no drummer to record haha. i'd be willing to do my best, I've got experience in mixing guitars and vocals, just not drums. I would be willing to mix it for you any time you need to upload a video. let me know, man, much appreciated.
@iiXxBeAStlYxX -- Exactly. I really wonder what the hell is wrong with some people. They probably didn't like that he's using Sabian XS instead of more glamorous (and more expensive, obviously), AA(X) or HH(X), or that it's (I think) a Gretsch Catalina instead of a Renown, or whatever brand/model toward which they're biased. The fact, though, is that this guy made an unreal, fantastic cover using a mid-range kit with mid-range cymbals ... and it all sounds great. Sounds like jealousy, to me!
@quiMthje - Thank you. The sound of the hihat is mainly captured through the overhead mic. There might also be some bleeding through the snare and hightom mics.
@tyballast - Yes, I did play with the EQ quite a lot. But that is what you always do when mastering a drum track. The mics are quite amazing for the price range though, dont you think?
Awesome playing, man. Honestly, don't worry (if you're still doing other drum covers, and all that) so much about getting it 100% right; there are thousands of covers of any song that you can cover, so most people would rather hear you switch it up a little bit.
And great recording too, much better than 99% of the musicians on Youtube.
@BrianWilson720 - Thank you. I am actually not completely happy with the ride. To me it has a little bit too much of a washing sound. I would like something a bit heavier with more stick definition. I would probably like the XS20 Rock Ride better. But its all a matter of personal taste, so in the end you have to try it out for yourself before you buy. Thats the best approach.
@Utube2Itube really nice cover but i thing the ride is too much quiet i thing rock version will be better i like the sound of crashes and hi hat but in official video i like more rock set... ??? can you recomend this cymbals thx
@Fercarmusic - Haha! I started to play at the age of 23. Im 25 now. Its never too late to start. This particular song I learned in 1 - 2 hours. Its quite easy if you have mastered the basics of drumming.
hey! have you stole mt drums or somethin? I have the same kit, same disposition, same cymbals also coated drum heads. ahah great sounding drums you have there! I just bought a different ride recently, a paiste 2002. And live they sound really amazing! ANd nice playing too!
Thanks for this video! I've got a little drum channel going myself, and am looking at stepping it up and doing some higher quality videos, but I have no sound equipment so I've been looking online at some mics and found the PGDMK6 kit that you use here. They sound pretty dang good - and so does your drumming! Thanks for the helpful "kit only" segment at the end of the video - that helped a lot. Keep up the great work! :D
I'm really glad youve got an acoustic set. Much more fun I think!
Youre a good drummer, youre very aquerate I think! I would like to see you improvising though, I believe thats more interesting than copying the exact original drums.
I also just started recording my acoustic set with real drummics. Check me out if youd like to!
@Nikogda - Thanks. I play the exact original drums because otherwise you would hear two different drumtracks and it would sound strange. I will howerver record some videos with only improvisation, but for that I will use drumless tracks. The camera moving is done after recording in Sony Vegas Pro.
@gretschstg - The batter heads are Remo ambassador on the snare, tuned quite high, and Evans G2 coated on the toms, tuned fairly low. All resonance heads are stock "gretsch heads".
@Utube2Itube Absolute quality mate! I can vouch for the G2's I run them all my toms! They make an amazing sound when tuned correctly. I've got one of their dry heads on my snare as well. All great stuff.
@georgevts - Can you recomend a good dry snare head from Evans. Im not really happy with the Remo Ambassador. Too much ringing, so I need to use two moongels to make it sound good.
awesome grooving man! you're so even and smooth with the main hit hat pattern, it feels great. i liked the upbeat hi hat notes within the ride pattern too.
Love the kit - so much better imo - The drums sound good. I still don't have it down - and probably never will. Your video production has improved so much as well as your drumming - To hell with the neighbors!
@fjboumboum - Yes, all my stuff are in the mid price range, but I really made a research to find the most valuable components before buying. Overall Im really happy with the kit. Its the XS20 regular cymbals and no, theres no hole in the bass drum head.
Great quality video! Sweet playing and kit too! LIKE!
