:18 , :37 , 1:24 , 1:56(Ft Worth?), 3:00 , 3:18 , symmetry is beauty imo . But aside from that , speaking as someone who was a truck driver for 5 years , i would take a big interchange over a simple cloverleaf anytime . much more maneuverable situation in the big interchanges especially for an 18 wheeler !
Um, excuse me, but why the hell isn't the infamous Springfield "Spaghetti Bowl" Interchange in this video???! It intersects I-95, I-395, and I-495 in Springfield, VA. So confusing sometimes. Especially at night.
standard cloverleafs have 4 spots where there is weaving, when one flow of traffic crosses another. most American cloverleafs have additional ramps and bridges to try and avoid this.
@FlukeJob Sometimes there isn't enough space if infrastructure is already built around the highways, which is probably how most of these designs came to be
@shermanro exactly what I was thinking, a cloverleaf takes up alot of space
it could also be that parts of the intersections were built during different years and starting from scratch costs more than just adding overpasses here and there
Americans squander too much money on roads and highways. Instead of building better roads. Americans should concentrate more on building better families. Considering that it's a country with the best freeway infrastructure but the highest divorce rate. What good is technology if the most important stuff humans need isn't even met.
@avitech77 There are far too many factors involved in that high divorce rate, and money is probably already one of the largest issues as it is. The system gives people way more benefits in taxes and shit if you marry and have a kid. I agree with the overspending on highways, but, hell, what does that even have to do with families?
There is one in Amarillo at I-27 / I-40, some call it a 'volleyball' style; there are no cloverleafs or high ramps. Unfortunately 1 ramp (EB I-40 to SB I-27) didn't directly connect onto I-27, traffic there has to pass through the light at the first exit south on the I-27 service road prior to merging with I-27's main lanes.

God bless all civil engineers. How they manage to fit some of these intersections is not only amazing, but artistic.
