You can play from TABs and still develop an ear. Plus, by the time you do, you'll already know a good hand full of songs. TABs are not evil.

@MonkeysOnRiot Use your ears, he starts on a high A (14th fret G string) work out the key signature and then find the mode he's in. I CBA because I prefer to make up my own stuff but heres some advice :P

@dumapies what i do mate his take chord progressions from jazz standards & i write them into the Software band in a box. This gives you a lot of options of types of styles and what instuments you want in accompyment. other than that you might need to buy backing tracks :( hopew that helped
