And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations;and then shall the end come.matthew:24:14. THANKS JESUS.
wow...my home church Old Mt. Calvery Baptist Church Young Adult Choir use to sing this and tear the church up located in Concord, Ga...this sure does brings back memories!!! thanks BrothaRollins
Yes! This is one Pastor's Black's favs...he really gets his dance on off of this one....and the Spirit goes from one member to the other....like a set of dominos
Question: Can ANYBODY tell me the gospel artist who originally did this song? I'm 24, but back in 1991 when I was 7, I was at a church anniversary of mines and remember the guest choir singing it...my first time I ever remember hearing it, although I know it had to have come out back in the 70s or 80s (or maybe 60s)..I don't know, lol
So lame. I suppose the general consensus is that Christian rock or christian rap is bad. Or any christian song is bad that has music in it from a "bad" genre of music. Because it has "bad" roots? You should probably read your bible. Check out the descendents of Cain including those who are in the new testament. I doubt that everyone on that list is "bad."
My question is this how Jesus had church? I Dont think so. Church changes and reflects the times in wich we live. It was a time when this type of singing was looked down upon in church because of the many blues elements in the music so why are we jumpin down thes so called New churches. They reflect the times in which we live.
Interesting comments. First, Jesus would not have attended church as we know it. He would have attended the temple and worshipped according to his Jewish traditions. History shows that the church has mingled "secular" tunes with sacred lyrics and it did not begin with gospel music. If I am not mistaken, the piano and organ were secular instruments made sacred. Last, except for maybe the obvious worldy tunes how can one distinguish between sacred and secular music.
The object in wich the music is talking about. are you talking about worldly things or are you talking about and glorifying the creator of the universe.
Actually it's the reverse. The piano and organ as well as all other instruments were sacred instruments deemed secular by some ppl who didn't know what the Bible says.
The problem comes in when someone comes out with new ways of glorifying God in a new way and people start downing these musians and saying that its influenced too much by the world, when this type of singing was influenced by the blues muscic of the 20's and 30's. Remember Thomas A. Dorsey was a blues muscian when He wrote Precious Lord
You have to realize that the bible does not record the music of the day but i know it did not sound like this. And there is nothing wrong with this type of music. I love music like this.
This man can have church all by himself...if I had a chance to go to Atlanta I will be heading directly to Beluah Baptist to get my blessing. Jerry Black is a true diciple of God. Best I've heard, hands down!
That's a Dr. Charles Nicks and St. James Missionary Baptist Church of Detroit classic. SANG IT Dr. Black!!!!! Young folks don't know nothing about that.
sing it Rev. Black. that's right!!! this is a old school Detroit anthem. you right about young folks not knowing about gospel sing of this nature, THIS IS TRUE SHO NUFF GOSPEL SANGIN!!
i remember rev. black when he was in arkansas..he preached my aunt homegoing service...and he also was here last year...he is one of the choosen few...i will listen to him anytime...
Thats where the humbleness is. Alot of the craziness in young people can be blamed on the lack of respect for the church. But these churches that have gotten away from God are starting to be exposed...
amen to that brother. Im 26 and i know this. What is surprising is that a lot of this foolishness is coming out of young people down south in the church! That is sad because the south is the anchor for the black church! we not going to back to our roots!
You usally only see this type of worship in the mini-churches... Lady w/ tamborine in choir...
Most preaches have gone away from this but its the worship that got them old folks thru when black people were REALLY having hard times. I will surely goto a Sunday service here when I goto Atlanta again.
cdonon321 u are right.. most churches have gotten away from the true deep soul driven gospel music...some churches still do it though.. especially alot of the smaller churches in the country here in Alabama
Recorded by The St. James Baptist Church Adult Choir pastored at the time by Rev. Charles H. Nicks, Jr. The Minister of Music was Bro. Jimmy "JD" Dowell.

A charge to keep I have,
A God to glorify,
A never-dying soul to save,
And fit it for the sky.
To serve the present age,
My calling to fulfill:
O may it all my powers engage
To do my Master's will!.........best part!!
