  • Put on my robe lawd in GLORY lawd... WELL... Sing Mahalia.

  • I love My Mahalia !

  • I love this song!

  • Is there more video available for purchase of Mother Mahalia that is similar to that of Mahalia Live in Chicago where she is in a little more intimate setting ministering in church where she is totally free to just be Mahalia?

  • I love Mahalia!

  • Way better version than the other. The song that made me fall in Love Mahalia.

  • Forgot to add...Thanks for posting this. If you own the 1947 recording; you're truly fortunate. God bless.

  • I believe that this was the purpose God intended for her. I believe He gave her this voice to glorify His name, and this song to me is her trademark song and shows the great purpose of her life. When something is truly great (as a gift from God) IT LIVES ON, it doesn't wear out and die and goes away. IT LIVES ON and continues to MOVE people in a great and powerful way. Thank you for this video!

  • What a beautiful comment. I truly feel the same way when it comes to Ms. Jackson's singing. In my opinion, no one can compare to her. Her voice was incredibly powerful and soulful. She touched people when she sang. So grateful that she continues to live on in song.

  • @Abinidad2 Amen to that! True as it gets.

  • great or else I would not be commenting on it

  • This woman Mrs. Mahalia is the true queen of gospel and in my book will aways be i have just about everything she has sung that i have collected over the years she is all that i listen to or even want to hear.

  • I´m a really devoted fan of Elvis, but this gives me the goose bumps! Elvis never forgot the roots of the music he was singing.

  • she will be missed!

  • fantastic song ...

  • Would I ever like to hear this slow drag version go right into the uptempo! Is there such a recording?

  • nope. She recorded this 3 times, this one from 1947 with Apollo (sold over a million copies); again in 1954 with Columbia, and once again in '62-63 with Columbia.

  • So obviously this was gospel's first million seller...and "Surely God is ABle by Clara Ward and her group in 1949 and not Dr. Mattie Moss Clark...I wonder why people keep saying Dr. CLark was the first gospel artist to get a gold record

  • The picture that is posted was taken by famous critic Carl Van Vatchen!!!!

  • Total classic by an amazing and truely gifted singer! Amen!

  • This is excellent, pure excellent!

  • I love this woman. God had his hands on her.

  • 5STARS!

  • I love this song, and the picture too..good post my friend :)!

  • where's the first part?

  • That is the first part, that's how it begins.

  • Nope this is the second part...

  • They must have released only the 2nd part on the CD I have then. I'll fix the description.
