Summer is fantastic!! I agree parts did seemed a little more forced as Maria, but theatre is hard and that is a tough role, I think she was brilliant!

The only good bit summer did then was when she said "Yes, that's right. Well, sometimes we just do that". All the other bits when she's talking AND singing is just a bit... bleh. She doesn't have much personality does she? Connie was so much better. If you don't believe me... watch "the sound of music children in need 2006". PROOF.

Why do you Connie fans always have to compare? If you're going to be like that then fine, no, Summer isn't Connie. You know what she brings to Maria? She makes her human, funny and loveable. There is no doubt that Connie has an amazing voice but in the acting stakes? Summer is most definitely 100% better. She must be doing something right for them to extend her contact =)

and the people's Maria? I agree but Summer is MY Maria so that's all that matters.

I saw the production a couple of weeks ago and I have to say that I think the girl that played Liesl, Amy Lennox, outshone Summer Strallen. As did the women who played the Mother Superior. She received the loudest cheer during the finale and rightly so - her rendition of "Climb Every Mountain" took your breath away. I'll assume Summer was having an "off day" as the main character should never be overshadowed by those in supporting roles. But she most definitely was!

It sometimes happens. The whole cast are very strong, especially Amy Lennox who plays Liesl. I think with Summer, it's not her voice that makes the part, it's everything she brings to the part of Maria. Maybe she was having an off night, which she is entitled to.

Forgot to mention: the little girl that played Brigitta was outstanding also. All the kids were great. And yes oatsandsparkles, Summer is allowed an off night. I should imagine that 8 performances a week is exhausting. I'm knackered in a show after 3 nights! But I can only comment on what I saw.

which Brigitta did you have? Hannah who plays Brigitta in this video? All the groups of kids are all amazing, these are my favourite group singing wise. They all have their stregnths and weakensses though.

Summer only does six shows a week ;) But she's been working non stop recently, she went straight from Hollyoaks into SoM without anytime to breathe so I think that's a major factor. Hopefully after her holiday this week, she'll come back feeling refreshed
