So, I was in Les Mis this past summer (best experience of my life), and the one thing I didn't like was our lack of a set. Of course, we had an amazing barricade and stuff, but nothing like this. That was amazing.
@just1otherfan Well huge fan of the show. Pretty much a les mis nerd, my favourite show. I get the broadway world website newsletter. Don't think they're cutting any songs in particular but you know how the entire show is sung? Well they going to turn most of that into spoken word or cut all together and only the big main songs will be sung. They did quite a bit of that in phantom as well. A lot of the spoken dialogue in phantom was sung in the stage show. Also a fan of the show on facebook so
Going on November 13th! I was just in this production and we're going to state competition Labor Day weekend! Can't wait to finally see it professionally done!!
Check my cover out of stars and Empty chairs and empty tables if you would please guys! Let me know what you think :) hope I did it justice! Sorry its a bit out of sink.. still... I hope its a good listen! :D
Is this footage from a live performance or filmed like a movie. Is there a way to watch this on DVD ? not the concert edition but from wherever these bits all came from ? Does anyone know where to find this that would please help ? thank you
@just1otherfan not at the moment. However they are making a film of Les Miserables which will begin filming in Feb. Hugh Jackman is the only one cast so far. However they are cutting a bunch of songs down to just spoken word. Apparently singing the whole show as done on stage doesn't work on film.
Personally I think they should have just filmed the 25th anniversary tour. I'd certainly pay to see it on film.
@grania18 oh....bummer. :( thanks anyways. Where'd you find all this out ? Do you know which songs they're cutting ? Will there be any singing at all ? I agree they should've filmed this tour since they already recorded them singing onto CD.
Epopnine has been played by a black woman several times. I saw this production and she is by far one of the best Eponine's I've had the pleasure of seeing.
give me some hope. does anyone think there's any chance that this tour will be in st louis? i can't afford to go to any of these cities to see it. and i really want to!
saw it last night. simply amazing. i work at the theatre its playing at currently, and the work they put into making it like this, is phenemonal. anyone in the new jersey area, see it!
Ashley Artus just Genius casting and Lynne Wilmot, what chemistry, what relish, what love, what inspiration, both of them, a theatrical match from heaven.
Saw the penultimate performance at the Barbican, and it was mind-blowing. Just watching this trailer made me cry beacuse it all came flooding back to me :') Most amazing show!
@ExplodingRecycables There was no 20th Anniversary Concert. There was a 10th Anniversary Concert whose cast were teriffic though to say the 25th Anniversary Touring Cast were not better would be to be a stick-in-the mud purist. There was also a 25th Anniversary Concert whose cast was a mixed bag, though still pretty good.
@raitoyagami1992 I think there is one coming out in November but I'm not sure what it contains, just saw it on Amazon. Might be the Concert or the show!
i saw it last night for the first time ever at the 25th anniversary and it was so so amazing. The understudy played Jean Valjean instead of John Owen-Jones and he was absolutely fantastic :)
The song is called 'One Day More' and, well, pretty well the whole cast have a part in it. The character singing in this clip is Enjolras, leader of the student revolutionaries, played here by Jon Robyns. I have seen this show about six times now including once with the great Colm Wilkinson playing Valjean. He was the only one who made me cry, but I think this guy, (is it John Owen-Jones?) just might.
@sdrhead Sadly John Owen-Jones will not be in the US Tour of this production as he is returning to the role of The Phantom in the London production of 'The Phantom of the Opera' (since the whole ''Paint Never Dries' debacle ALW has needed a coup to get him back in the Phans good graces). There is a brand new cast for the US tour who begin rehearsals in November.
@PuppetsNStuff Getting me more hyper now- in the 25th anniversary concert book it doesn't say '25th Anniversary Tour cast' and then list them it says '2010 Barbican cast' as if they are staying! are they? are they? i hope so! i want to see the new production!
Ive met most of this productions cast , ive met Ashley Artus, Lynne Wilmot ( three times ) John Owen Jones, Gareth Gates ( six times ) Earl Carpenter, Beth Davies and a few others. Such a lovely lovely cast and all so so talented and perfect. Gareth is a gentleman and so is John Owen Jones who is very humble and lovely to meet. Ashley is so lovely and has a joke with you as so does Lynne who is another friendly soul. I so so wish that the tour would do a second UK tour with that amazing cast!:)
Ashley Artus and Lynne Wilmot are just aaaaaamazing in this show at: 1:02!
Met them both and they are the sweetest people you could ever meet bless them!
Fab production and fab song....mater of the house and beggar at the dance. thanku so much for posting. Love the tour and so so sad that its nearly over....
@TyCerrigfarm yes Ashley has such a great face and he puts his heart and soul in to that character..he is the best ever and no one in my opinion can do it better than him. long may he continue in that role with the splendid Lynne Wilmot and the great John Owen Jones who is an angel. great tour advert i must say.please please pray that the tour adds more dates and comes out on dvd with that cast.
i seen it today in bristol. and it was muuuuuch better than the 10th anniversary, i met gareth gates and hes lovely, the enjolras was owain williams. and he was ammmaazing. such a powerful welsh voice. also in bristol we went round the back and seen all the characters, they will sign your book and take pictures, they are lovely :). and my friend beth davies is in it she had to pull gareth gates out for me, he was abit shy x
This looks amazing! I just wish it were the TAC Dream Cast..I have no doubt these guys will put on a breathtaking show, but the Dream Cast will always be a personal favorite of mine <3
Sorry to say this but I really don't like it. For me, I think the 10th Anniversary is more better than this. They are not in the same league of those dream cast!!
@StephenTomlinson100 i know, unfortunatly! but i'm still sad for knowing that i never had the chance to be at the 10th anniversary...and that probably, no cast wil ever be that amazing and professional!!
What is this BEN HUR meets OLIVER? Absolutely dreadful re-conception. The Producer and new creative team should be ashamed of themselves. Then again by this sample they are shameless.
saw this in Paris on 28 May and seeing the last night on 4 July. Fantastic theatre opposite Notre Dame de Paris - great views for dinner before the show and afterwards Ile de la citie all lit up.
Not a huge fan of the show - seen it in London a few times. And I saw a French version last year in Lausanne. This version seems to be more like the original French version. I even got a little emotional a couple of times!
It was odd seeing it in Paris with French subtitles though!
@Disneydanny Yes they had new orchestrations - I went to see it at the Hippodrome and I loved them, even though I still love the originals. They used more folk instruments like recorders etc. for some scenes and the strings were more isolated and romantic. =]
My favourite musical!!Oh my God,i don't know guys where they're going to but definitely not in Greece!!!!!!!that's really bad :( I want to see this musical alive not just on youtube!!!!!!:'(
@NicoleCollard It depends. I'm a fan of the original, and I didn't like the concept or, for that matter, the cast that much. I thought most of it did, indeed, seem like a cartoon version, as dwave08 has called it. Very over the top. There are great moments in there, but overall, it didn't touch me at all. I'm sure it's very impressive for many who see it, but it wasn't for me.
@LegsandJump Thanks for your sincere answer... That's exactly what I was thinking about this version. It seems pretty impressive in the video, but I'm very conservative when it comes to this musical and I'm quite afraid, because they're going to bring this version to my country due to the 25th anniversary and I'm not sure about me liking it. :S
@NicoleCollard Don't mean to put you in a quandary but I went and I thought it was exceptional, and I've seen the original London version twice. I thought that the new sets and new orchestrations gave it new vitality, and thought most of the cast were exceptional. However, if your favourite songs are I Dreamed a Dream and On My Own then you may find you don't like them - I found the actresses of Fantine and Eponine had voices that didn't suit the material. Javert and JV were stunning though.
@MrBarsty Thank you very much for your answer! I see there are a lot of opinions around. I'm a really big fan of this musical, and I suppose I will be startled by the whole production, anyway. I love 'I dreamed a dream' and 'On my own', but I prefer Javert and Valjean as characters. On the other hand, the actors won't be the same in my country, so I hope they will be well cast. :)
@NicoleCollard i only saw that one and i loved it, my mum saw the original and she liked the new one better. to each their own i guess, but i don't think you will be disapointed. and i thought the cast was great, espacially Valjean, Fantine and the Thénardiers
@kanaplz apparently they r in the fall! first stop is papermill playhouse in new jersey, but I'm not sure where else they go... eagerly awaiting it!!!
@kanaplz I wish it would do a second UK tour, we love it. I am so upset that the tour is nearly over. I am sure there will be a tour in the US but it will probably be a different cast. Is the show not on Broadway?
@kanaplz they are coming to the u.s...i dont know if its this particular cast but les mis is going to be on tour in the u.s sometime this year or next.
Fabulous show, saw it in Norwich. The whole cast were brilliant, but the highlight for me was Gareth Gates as Marius. Other outstanding performances came from Eponine and John Owen Jones as Jean Valjean.
i just watched this in Edinburgh tonight it was amazing! visually the best show i have ever seen the set was unbelievable and well the singing was obviously mind blowing! absolutely flawless you need to see it!!
I just saw it last night, one of the best nights of my life. Some awe-inspiring projection work and sets. And of course the performances gave me chills all night. Rosalind James was outstanding as Eponine! I really hope you all get a chance to see it.

I hate this version. It's like a f***ing cartoon. What is this, a joke?
The 10th anniversary version in London with Colm Wilkinson is clearly the best. I don't like the new one

@dwave08 Please let me know what cartoons you watched as a child as they must have been pretty damn awesome.

Did anyone see this new version yet? Are we old fans going to be disappointed or is it even better?
Thanks for your help!

@NicoleCollard it was beyond amazing fantastic cast and just mind blowing
randomist92 1 year ago
@NicoleCollard It depends. I'm a fan of the original, and I didn't like the concept or, for that matter, the cast that much. I thought most of it did, indeed, seem like a cartoon version, as dwave08 has called it. Very over the top. There are great moments in there, but overall, it didn't touch me at all. I'm sure it's very impressive for many who see it, but it wasn't for me.
LegsandJump 1 year ago
@LegsandJump Thanks for your sincere answer... That's exactly what I was thinking about this version. It seems pretty impressive in the video, but I'm very conservative when it comes to this musical and I'm quite afraid, because they're going to bring this version to my country due to the 25th anniversary and I'm not sure about me liking it. :S
Thanks again. :)

@Becketts43 I thought les mis was already on Broadway? I think the tour finishes soon! would be amazing if that cast did go to Broadway!

@Becketts43 According to broadwayworlddotcom it will be at the Papermill Playhouse in NJ before setting out on a US tour.

@kanaplz they will go to broadway; just not exactly the same cast, and not right now
Leyuann 1 year ago
@kanaplz I wish it would do a second UK tour, we love it. I am so upset that the tour is nearly over. I am sure there will be a tour in the US but it will probably be a different cast. Is the show not on Broadway?
Totallyfairorgans 1 year ago
@kanaplz they are coming to the u.s...i dont know if its this particular cast but les mis is going to be on tour in the u.s sometime this year or next.

Fabulous show, saw it in Norwich. The whole cast were brilliant, but the highlight for me was Gareth Gates as Marius. Other outstanding performances came from Eponine and John Owen Jones as Jean Valjean.

@markjameshowe i'm not too sure. they were selling lots of things though including a CD, i think a poster must have been on sale too.

I just saw it last night, one of the best nights of my life. Some awe-inspiring projection work and sets. And of course the performances gave me chills all night. Rosalind James was outstanding as Eponine! I really hope you all get a chance to see it.
