Turning lights on & off with iPhone Smart Home

how do you get the light switches to do this? I would think it needs an electronic switch because the old mechanical switches can not be controlled remotely. I would like to have my house work off my iphone.

The best part of this is that I got this guy's old phone when he upgraded to the 4 and so could turn the lights on and off, adjust the climate control and even the stereo from the comfort of my living room in Sydney Australia! That's what brothers are for! ...took him a month to figure out why his bedroom lights would flip on every morning at 4:00am only to turn off 5 min later :)

this guy is the beast in home automation!!!! because i called him the other day and we were talking about how i can do the same thing to my house, but he lives in Colorado and i live in Georgia. But he told me that he can control basically everything except water and drainage system in his house!!!!! man i wish i was his next door neighbor!!!

Uh, no it IS real. Its called this product is called Insteon. Its a lighting control system with an iphone app that talks to the system through the wifi network,

I install these systems all the time. In fact wirelessly controlling lights has been around for decades, Its just becoming affordable and now there are iphone apps.
