  • kickass.

  • Wait what's the movie called?

  • This is so great. If this were a real 70's exploitation movie I could see myself hunting down a $40 DVD or blu-ray of it from one of the few distributors that specialize in such things. Its only fault is that it makes you want to see a feature version so very badly!

  • The pencilXD

  • Wait a minute...Mike P. Nelson......of Mystery Science Theater 3000?

If it is his him, it makes perfect sense. :)

  • For a bit I thought this was actually a genuine 70s trailer. Good job.

  • This would have been top notch except for the monotone voiceover. It sounds like my math teacher did back in highschool.

  • Do you mind if i use this as a trailer before a film i am making

  • very nice.

  • that shoulda won man

  • @Rantincorporated This could have been the runner up for all you know. A better one than others in South By Southwest contest but I'm happy to know the winner was Hobo With A Shotgun.

  • how did you do the narrators voice?

  • weird

  • What a send-up LOL

  • lol I love Grindhouse's fake trailers, hopefully machete will be funny

  • bit . ly/jerku

  • damn that was very well done

  • STOP THE SLAUGHTER

  • Wow that was cool man. I like the camera...

  • I would use a popsicle stick.

  • awesome awesome looks so good

  • eavil is my lord!!

  • I wouldn't kill 'im. Just keep him in an anonymous basement and torture him for as long as I can keep him alive and in pain. Which could mean years.

  • I'd make 'em listen to the bay city rollers 24 / 7 / 365 days a year till they expired.

  • Make it into a Feature like Machete!!!

  • I'd use penis

  • I'll use a vat of acid.

  • very slowly

  • Thats Genius

  • The first teaser trailer for the upcoming movie "The Back Room" is online! A modern take on the grindhouse horror shot on the outskirts of Las Vegas!

    Watch it if you dare!!!!

  • i would use a spoon

  • I'd pick the pencil

  • I kinda wanna see it now lol

  • this has nothing on "maiden of death"

  • what editing program did you use?

  • FCP 5

  • lol, holy shit, i met the guys who made this. They did a film called Summer School, its actually pretty badass.

  • awesome!

    5 Stars!

  • This was from Mike Nelson? The MST3K guy? I didn't know that!

  • The grindhouse trailers that weren't shown on the actual movie all tried to hard.

  • so there wont be any real movies. this are only trailers for the grindhouse or what ?

  • You're a real idiot aren't you?

  • Great trailer. It captures the true spirit of Grindhouse & exploitation films!

  • Nice job, very authentic.

  • chuzzrocket shut the fuck up.

  • it will have you screaming 'stop the slaughter' LOL HAHAHA

  • Comment removed

  • it was actually good

    great job

  • Very very Texas Chainsaw (1974) and Last House on the Left. lol Well done!

  • This looks like it would kick ass.

  • so i must ask besides shooting with a DXV100, what type of filters did you use to create this look.

  • Now make the film you bastards......Finish the fucking story man. I`m hooked.

  • def the best fake trailer iv seen, really well made

  • you are crazy.

  • A Pencil lol

  • What does SXSW MEAN?

  • South by Southwest. It's a film fest. Last year Rodriguez held a grindhouse comp.

  • IMHO one of (aint pro) best made fakees, exellent

  • Very nice.

  • Mike P. Nelson? As in Mystery Science Theater 3000 Mike Nelson? Oh my, that would be awesome!

  • Kermit the Frog = Producer ?

  • It must be him hahahahaha

  • Excellent trailer! Love the dry voice over!

  • Good cinematography and writing. Nice score aswell

  • This should have won at SXSW. HWAS is good but this was better.

  • Fantastic work! If HWAS hadn't entered the contest, I do believe this would have taken it.

  • this is real

  • Ahaha, loved how the narrator sounded incredibly bored.Oh look, a Luger, sweet!

  • gotta love oldschool movie violence

  • great trailer very reminiscent to the old grindhouse style *thumbs up*

  • lmao I love the robotic narrator voice :D

  • Totally awesome man!

  • Kick-ass dude. That was nice!

  • whoah whoah, that last sound byte of the scream at the end, I smell They Call Her One Eye...

  • DOES ANYBODY KNOW WERE I CAN DOWNLOAD MOVIES FROM DE 70S like Russo's MIDNIGHT??

  • omg. A pencil.

  • that was great! can I ask where you got the ambient sound from at the start of the trailer? cheers

  • The crackle and hum stuff is actually a record player and the guitar plucks are original stuff I had done!

    Thanks for the response!

    *mike

  • awesome!! thanks for the reply.

  • Seriously, that was good. Better than the entry that won. I liked the pace, style, tone, voice-over, and lack of violence. The Trailers I've seen (including the ones in the film) had a level of violent gore that no trailer from the Grindhouse period would have had. Think about it, the majority of trailers wouldn't have gore because they wouldn't be shown if they did.

  • Haha, I live like 5 hours from Madge.

  • For a second I thought this was the same Mike Nelson of MST3K fame, but then I realized you had different middle initials, though.

I'd love to see a MST3K take on grindhouse, though.

  • This stuff looks so authentic. Like that 1970s piece of crap "Blackenstein".

  • In response to Shoestring; I hear what your saying. But, I felt as though parody was the obvious way to go and wanted to have a more serious slower feel. So many original trailers were that way. Many weren't meant to be funny. They are funny now days because of the different times we live in. I felt as if I could replicate the time instead of what the Grindhouse movie was going to do, I would make a better piece. Whether I did or not is up to you. Thanks for the crit!

    *mike

  • amen!

  • It claims to be a documentary of three people trying to fight for survival. So it's probably supposed to be a fake advertisement for a snuff film in the late 60's or early 70's.

  • Only problem is that repeating the "stop the slaughter" and "kill your killer" line so many times made the trailer feel monotonous. And even if you're going serious, a feeling of parody always helps. That was generally the intent of the trailers featured in the movie.

  • awesome, this is one of my favorites trailers of the contest. Fucking Good

  • Very good. Especially the sound blip at the beginning, makes the trailer feel very old school. Also the warning, it's a clever way to make the audience want to see the film more. Like reverse psychology.

  • Strike me first! This faux grindhouse trailer "Kill Your Killer" is sometime between 1967 and 1973.

  • i was wondering since you did the first part of the film are you going to do two more? or did you decide to just realease that one as a stand alone?

  • This is one of my personal favourites from the Grindhouse Contest. Great job guys! I love it! You got me saying "Kill Your killer." & "Stop the slaughter." in a monatone voice all day long. lol!

  • If Hobo with a Shotgun Hadn't win i bet this would've

  • I agree with JayRod22222... intense. Actually had me going there! The thing that annoys me about these trailers (I only just found out about the contest/started watching them) is that most of them I'm starting to wish were real films. Haha. Good work!

  • wow. this was intense

  • looks very realistic.. big ups!

  • How come this wasn't in Grindhouse when I saw it in the theater?

  • This was designed for the SXSW trailer competition hosted by Robert Rodgriguez. It wasn't for the feature film. Thanks for thinking it was though. Makes us believe we're doing our jobs properly.

  • Are you saying this films doesn't exist? booh.

Was it a contest for rodriguez to choose the best trailer and make the winners do a film for the grindhouse,or something like that? nice work btw.

  • not Rodriguez, Tarantino was the one choosing...and Robert Rodriguez was the winner.

  • Umm....I don't think Robert Rodriguez won the competion....he made "Planet Terror", it was his and QT's idea to make these trailers...

    :)

  • A guy from halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada won with his Trailer "Hobo with a Shotgun" although for some reason the trailer only played in theatres across Canada

  • I know! I got it on DVD from America and it didnt have "hobo" on it i was well gutted:(

  • Kickass trailer, man. I love the producer interlude...it was perfect. And the shooting of the woman coming out of the door seemed very brutal. Well done. This contest was so rad. So many great pieces of work. Check mine out if you get a chance.

  • very cool cinematography

  • Ha Ha, excellent stuff.

  • I love how they made fake trailers for this movie. It is gonna be awsome.

  • Real cool trailer with that "old" feeling.

  • What if I kill the killer of "Kill your Killer? Does that make me a kill killer or a killer kill? Or does that make me a thrill killer or a killer thriller? If the Killer of "Kill Your Killer" is named Bill and I kill the killer of "Kill Your Killer" does that make a a Bill Killer or a Killer Biller or a Kill Biller? If I were to Kill the Bill of "Kill Your Killer" and my name were Will would that make me a Will Kill Bill Killer?

  • i think if u kill the killer of the killer than your the killer of the killer of the killer which makes u the same as the killer of the killer, so your role in the film is *kill the killers killer*

  • Great Job!!

  • Excellent job!

  • Nice, reminds me of something i'd see double billed with

New York Ripper or House on the Edge of the Park

  • Makes me think of Cannible Holocaust trailer

  • Excellent, perfect gritty atmosphere.

  • Great! i like the producer's comment part in this trailer.
