hey ed.. i just thaugh id let you know from watching these videos and your main channel video made we wanna go out and catch a large mouth... i live in northern canada were we only have small mouth.. i got my dad to drive me 100 miles south to fish at the most northern lake with largemouth.. my first fish weighed 2lbs6oz..

@wapnom I taught myself, I picked up some books. Then I started fishing with other fishermen who knew more and it rubbed off. Number one rule for a beginner...patience.

Hey Ed, I've been playing with topwater frogs lately and I got a lot of strikes, but I only hooked one bass(released). Any tips on getting more bass on the hook? I use 65lbs braid, and when bass strikes, I wait about 2 seconds or so before I try and set the hook. Any tips would be great. Thanks!

@nat3king Yeah man, frog fishing is the best. Its also requires patience on the hook set. Instead of waiting two seconds, try looking for your line to tighten so you know he has it. Also feel for tension...when he is on, set the hook as hard as possible. Also, if you fish pads, when he is on, hold the rod tip high and reel in as fast as possible, try to make him walk across the pads. Good luck!

@daddytech Its a good way I guess. Some people say froggin is better in the sun. Most of these were cookie cutter fish, whenever that happens people think I am catching the same fish over and over LOL. But that would seriously kill a fish.

I was using the same baits as you were today. Heddon spook topwater, and a frog. Biggest catch of the day was 18 inches. I'm guessing it was 4lbs+

@nat3king Nice! 18" probably was closer to 2 1/2-3 lbs...unless it had a beer belly LOL. We had an 18" at the weigh in yesterday that went for 2.9 and looked healthy.

I am not at all against people catching bass and keeping them to eat, I just don't like them. I am however against people keeping bass just to mount them, you can take pictures of the fish and weigh and measure them and then get a fiberglass replica of your fish...and it lasts forever. Catch and release, I do it for the fun.

hey ed today i was out fishing i use a lite ugly stick w a daiwa exceler 1500 and i ran out of my braided 10# so i had to use my spare spool full of monofilament, and man i missed 5 bass today.. any tips on using mono? i tried setting the hook super hard.. still lost fish. great vid as always

@imakillamann Mono is good, especially for topwater because it floats. It does have a lot of stretch so don't make super long casts...if you get hit right away it's very hard to get a good hook set.
