I seen the miutemen on halloween 1985.the band were all in costume : d. boon was robin, mike watt was a dead sea captain and george wore a gory mask with his forelock spewin out a hole. there weren't no light show or pyrotechnics tho. it changed my life for sure. I was gettin turned on to punk (or post punk, whatever) but the scene seemed kinda weak. After this show it didn't matter to me what banner you flew. It was about integrity. These guys had it and you felt it.
The first time I listened to Double Nickels, I had to scrape my brains off the ceiling and reattach my jaw. I am so pissed that this is no longer available on Netflix. What the hell, Amazon? Usually ships in 2-5 weeks? The entire home video industry can bite my ass.
@TheMasterOfReality55 It played a year or two ago at the Warner Grand Theater here in San Pedro. One of the Econolines now belongs to my neighbors, but I have no idea if it's the one in the film.
@PeedroPaula Haha, it might be. If you live in pedro (where I'm from) that is probably Mike Watt's van. Does it happen to have yaks on each side of the van?
@TheMasterOfReality55 No, this Econoline has the Brahma bull sticker. Mike mentions it (and my friend Raul) in this video review he did of his new van for Kelley Blue Book.
some of us have red white and blue blood,,,,,,my blood runs flannel
the Minutemen are THE bridge between punk and indie and grunge, just way up there in influence and importance to us scumbag punkrockers ,another time and place when music was written and played with passion,no image no censorship no hype no internet no glossy protools just heart, soul, blood, spit, and passion
Damn. . .from Rollins to Flea to Thurston Moore to Mckaye. . .funk + jazz + hardcore punk + insightful yet political meanderings. . .the result? The Minutemen. Such an amazing band. . .
Rolling Stone that shit wipe of a mag once said that The Minutemen were one of the top ten overated bands/albums aND THIS COMES FROM A SO CALLED MAGAZINE THAT HAS HAD EVERY PIECE OF SHIT CORPORATE CRAP EXCUSE FOR MUSIC ON THEIR COVER! I REALLY WANT TO MEET THESE CRITICS AND ASK THEM IF IT WAS A SARCASTIC JOKE OR SOME DRUG INDUCED WHACKINESS!! GOD I HOPE IT WAS BECAUSE IF IT WASNT THOSE "CRITICS" NEED TO BE TAKEN OUT IN THE WOODS AND REEDUCATED!! tHE mINUTEMEN RULE!!!!!
You mean that mag that has the Olsen twins, Britney and the Jonas Brothers on the cover? lol They know as much about music and art as they do about politics e.g. not much.
@mikewines68 word bro... always felt like that magazine didnt really 'get' music post-70s. imagine its the sort of mag babyboomer dads read to stay 'in touch' with music (forced to buy print b/c they dont understand what a music blog is)
@Chadfish erroneous. all though fIREHOSE is good - you can not replace D. Boon or the chemistry between him and Mike Watt - they were on a whole other level.
How ironic that there's an ad before a minutemen doc trailer! Project Mersh indeed! Hilarious!

I was in a drunken haze when I listened
to this band. By the time 'jackass' came
out, the song was too obscure in my me-
mory to recall them. The only song I re-
membered was 'TOADIES'
