Yo, my brother was burned in a house fire and they had to do skin graphs on the burn spots. Once they removed skin from one area of his body the skin automatically grows in that area. What i have been told is that the keloid skin grows outward instead of inward. i think they are impossible to remove.

I too have keloids, but they are on my shoulder, they've been there for more than 15 years now. the irritating thing about them is that they usually become itchy when i left something heavy, they become so itchy that i sometimes want to through away the things i am holding in order to scratch them.

I think it's cool the way you handle it and that you're confident. I have a few keloid scars on my shoulder area (probably got them from zits...) and I'm not confident to wear sleeveless tops/dresses. I always buy clothing that has atleast a short sleeve. I wish I was as confident as you are.

@pineappleupside Keloids tend to have a mind of their own...its impossible to predict weatehr or not the keloid is going to increase in size...or stay the same. My advice would be to go ahead and try the freezing technique asap before his condition possibly gets worse. PLEASE NOTE that any procedure could cause the keloids to grow back even bigger...so its a gamble that you have to take if considering any removal procedure.

@DisorderlyKonduct08 Actually, there is a way to get rid of your keloids with surgery without having to worry about it recurring. Ask for radiation therapy along with your surgery. I have way more keloids than you on my neck and I got them surgically removed. I got radiation right after and my keloids did not recur. My keloids never grew back and now my neck is completely keloid free. I'm currently getting erbium laser to reduce redness and to help with evening out the skin tone. Don't lose hope

@ultrafashion7 Yeah, If you get surgery without radiation therapy than the keloids will recur. Surgery should only be considered if the keloid(s) is very big. If it's very little I highly recommend steroid injection (.20). I have a keloid on my shoulder that got injections and it's completely flat. I havn't tried cryosurgery but if your white it looks very promising ; it also helps with the redness. Anyways, wish you all good luck. Keloids are a pain to have and I wouldn't want anyone to have it
@asiandude1990ify I am asian too (Chinese). I had several small keloids on my chest. I tried the injections several times, my dermatologist even tried the higher dose injection. However, these keloids go flat at first but recur after 6 months or a year later. I don't recommend everyone getting injection on small keloids (less than 3mm), because my experience with them is that the recur process make those keloids a little bigger and raised higher.
@asiandude1990ify Also, the area where the needles go in become small keloids as well. So I got more than what I have before. However, I have a big one which is about the size of a quarter and it flatten 85% very well. So I recommend injection on large keloids. This is my personal experience.
Hey man i had a big one on my right earlob, they are easier to get rid of on the ear but from what i saw in the Doc's office people who get them on their face and get them removed they tend to come back 4X as big if not even bigger. @tretreswagg Eastland mall in columbus ohio has a clothing store that sells supras, I've also seen shops in malls in Cincinnati and dayton. Just do some research and you should be able to find a store near you.....or just purchase some from an authorized store online.

The clip above are my facial keloids. I have tried injections and they did not work. I did 1 treatment of laser hair removal which i really didnt see the point of it because all it does was remove hair permanently out my face which helps cover my keloids so i stopped. The nex step im considering is keloid removal followed by radiation. If good results ill post pictures. People will stare, they might even ask, if i see someone staring I tell them what they are and how I got mine. Most of my friends who know me well don't even notice them anymore! People in general can be cruel and mean, don't let them get to you !
I wish I could be more like you. I've had Keloids for about 7 or 8 years now... My keloids are all over my shoulders and back, and although a regular tee-shirt will cover them up, they still bring my self-confidence level down. But I guess that's nothing new; Being a teenager in todays society, you almost feel as if you have to be perfect to fit in with everyone else. i have a little one on my ear the size of a dime..the dr told me if i want it removed..to not get it cut off but to rub a mixture of lemon juice and asprin or however you spell it on my ear where its at with my finger then a soft tooth brush and it will heal in 4 to 3 weeks..no matter what size... but that i shouldnt get it removed because it wwill scar and get bigger than it is already.. hope this helps u!!

Had steroid injections and the improvement on my keloid is astounding especially after 1 week only! I am also using Mederma on the scar which seems to be working very well. I am also rubbing ice on my scar, patting it dry and then using Mederma over it. I then use Micropore paper tape over the Mederma and it seems to work very well.
The outcome will also help flatten the scar....
Try a medical supply place for the micropore tape..it will not irriate the skin

@tretreswagg Eastland mall in columbus ohio has a clothing store that sells supras, I've also seen shops in malls in Cincinnati and dayton. Just do some research and you should be able to find a store near you.....or just purchase some from an authorized store online.

The clip above are my facial keloids. I have tried injections and they did not work. I did 1 treatment of laser hair removal which i really didnt see the point of it because all it does was remove hair permanently out my face which helps cover my keloids so i stopped. The nex step im considering is keloid removal followed by radiation. If good results ill post pictures. Good to know im not alone on these face keloids becuz from what i understand they are rare and i have thm on the left & right

i felt the same way about my huge keloid's on my ears, but then i though who cares its a part of me and if people dont like me for me then forget about em. Having Keloids really showed me who my true friends are.. I just recently got mine removed a few months ago, and my ears look amazing.

i had a keloid on my inner thigh, when my girl saw it she told me how to fix it. take a small string and tie around the part really tight (if its big) and itll fall off in lyk 4 days worked for me dont kno if urs are big enought tho but u could try.

I'm 18 and for the past 3 years i've had the smallest keloid on my chest ... and for those 3 years i've covered it. I wear high necked tops or dresses with straps that cover it. Thank you so much for showing me that it really isn't that bad.

People will stare, they might even ask, if i see someone staring I tell them what they are and how I got mine. Most of my friends who know me well don't even notice them anymore! People in general can be cruel and mean, don't let them get to you !

I wish I could be more like you. I've had Keloids for about 7 or 8 years now... My keloids are all over my shoulders and back, and although a regular tee-shirt will cover them up, they still bring my self-confidence level down. But I guess that's nothing new; Being a teenager in todays society, you almost feel as if you have to be perfect to fit in with everyone else. The only thing that really bothers me is when someone touches me, because I think they will deem me as a freak or something.. :(

Hey man wassup. I'm actually a musician and a I was touring the keeled on my left ear began to grow bigger and bigger. I literally started walkin around with headphones to compensate for pol asking me bout them. After a while I was like the hell with it. I got my lady. I got my friends. I'm happy. i have a little one on my ear the size of a dime..the dr told me if i want it removed..to not get it cut off but to rub a mixture of lemon juice and asprin or however you spell it on my ear where its at with my finger then a soft tooth brush and it will heal in 4 to 3 weeks..no matter what size... but that i shouldnt get it removed because it wwill scar and get bigger than it is already.. hope this helps u!!

Had steroid injections and the improvement on my keloid is astounding especially after 1 week only! I am also using Mederma on the scar which seems to be working very well. I am also rubbing ice on my scar, patting it dry and then using Mederma over it. I then use Micropore paper tape over the Mederma and it seems to work very well.
The outcome will also help flatten the scar....
Try a medical supply place for the micropore tape..it will not irriate the skin
