@T0mmyboy100 Silent Hill is STILL scary, unlike Resident Evil which was scary until RE3 only, i don't like this kind of horror videogames with curses, magic and that stuff, but to be quite honest, i think SH it's the horror "IN PERSON" (the horror we all like), most of the SH games are scary almost ALL THE TIME (not only in certain moments or places), only the fact that when it's night, you only have an ordinary flashlight and your sight is impaired, that's enough to easily scare the player!
i remember this part, it creeped the FUCK out of me... in this video it kind of takes away from the horror a bit, how the reflection is in a funny pose haha. when i first played it, the reflection was just stood directly facing me... it absolutely horrified me... i used to play video games at night to add to the atmosphere. totally scarier and totally worth it :D

The entire twisted reality they experience is a metaphor of life itself with the only escape being death. It's all an exaggeration of the personal hell they already experience in reality. @hypotenuse123 The mirror is cursed, the longer you look into it the more it bends to your image and once it does that it's basically a voodoo doll. When the blood gets on you the image of the mirror is frozen meaning you've been copied into the mirror and are taking damage.
@hypotenuse123 To put it bluntly, what happened to her in the mirror killed her. Her reflection was killed, ergo how it died she died. So I am guess choking on blood.

The red tendrils spread around the room and slowly crawl up heather. How they actually kill her is a mystery to me. It's just some of that otherworld completelyunexplainable action going on there :P I'm gonna guess they ripped up her skin, went into her body and killed her

To avoid dieing or how ever you spell it you must heal and wait for a while, soon enough the door will unjam but you will not know it. So just stay over there and try it every one in a while, remember your heath!
the thing about sh3 is that they have those "I never saw it coming" deaths. Like the sewer monster, the pitfalls, the subway, getting killed trying to kill Claudia and this mirror thing where you couldn't just help but watch...

@M4rko96 Actually yours was fine. The door locks at the start. However, around the point that you are talking about, the room unlocks letting you out. If you don't leave, though, you die.
one major flaw with the game if heather is being used to birth the god that will be used to bring paradise to earth then why are the demons created by that god trying to kill her? it makes no sense to me
@Aleon38 perhaps, but I think that's one of the reason for Valtiel to exist, remember that he is the doctor of God, and it's suposed that he will revive the holly mother everytime she dies
@shishir16089 well...HD collections are usually just for consoles for obvious reasons. You should either suggest to a friend who has a console to get it, or just play it on PC with the resolution cranked up, OR (and this is what I will do) check out the walkthroughs on youtube. The remastered games will also feature new voice over and additional vocal tracks...not sure about the vocal part but new voices are 100% confirmed!

@oldschoolgamerz There is one game where it purposely fakes your hard drive being crashed. Ive seem some videos about it search it up. I cant remeber the name, but faking your hard drive getting destroyed seems pretty scary to me. :)
@tummilytumtum It is, but the thing with Silent Hill is that it brings the paranormal into things and it's never explained. Dead Space is purely Sci-Fi and stuff is explained eventually. You NEVER know wtf is in Silent Hill that causes all the shit to happen. There's just something inherently unsettling about something that is never explained.
@oldschoolgamerz I kind of get what you mean by psychological horror. It's the stuff that haunts your dreams for months, maybe even years. It's the stuff that makes you tremble when you think of the next playthrough. Maybe you don't scream, but you feel the fear subconsciously. It creeps within you and takes over, little by little, bit by bit, until you are plagued with fear and need to get help. That's why I rarely play hardcore horror games. My psyche can't handle it. I can try, though :)

That's kind of sad, cause it renders me unable to really enjoy them, but I still remember the first time a played a horror game and that was Alone in the Dark 4. Your psych would get fucked up badly. But until now, I've never understood, what this blood-like stuff really is. I've seen this in a couple of other games, too... like doom 3 or warhammer 40.000 ... some kind of unreal material from another dimension. This isn't just blood... it's some evil demonic stuff. Blood doesn't kill somebody!

@devilmaycry123ify Yeah, she died in the mirror room while staying in there for too long. Heather has Eisoptrophobia, meaning a fear of mirrors, and what the "Otherworld" does is to use people's fears and weaknesses in order to kill them. In Heather's case, Silent Hill created the mirror room to turn her fears into death since she always had the thought that, when she looks at her reflection, that she is not who she really looks like.
@scarletIbisluv Yeah no problem. Glad it peaked your interest though. I love SH and it's surrealism but it's too bad the recent SH games are completely predictable and unoriginal, after the original team disbanded. Anyway, hope you enjoy the games!
@scarletIbisluv Eh, it depends but they're all around the same length. First time, it took me about 11 hours, but a lot of that was just me getting lost haha(which can be easy since the town/building designs of SH are very realistic). Not terribly long, but they have enough in them to make you appreciate the games. After playing through, you should take a look at the translated Book of Lost Memories, which reveals how much depth was put into the original SH games(1-3).
@scarletIbisluv Yeah, but you can't immediately. As with most things in SH, it's meant to mess with your head and to reflect on the demented nature of the character(s) and the town. If you ever get to playing the games though I'd recommend starting with SH2. It's by far the best in the series imo, and doesn't have any connection to the other SH games in terms of the story. If you can get past some awkward dialogue you'll find a masterpiece of psychological storytelling.
@scarletIbisluv It's not necessarily supposed to be 'scary'. More so disturbing. And trust me, if you actually played the game and got to this room, then you'd understand it's effect better.

@shishir16089 well...HD collections are usually just for consoles for obvious reasons. You should either suggest to a friend who has a console to get it, or just play it on PC with the resolution cranked up, OR (and this is what I will do) check out the walkthroughs on youtube. The remastered games will also feature new voice over and additional vocal tracks...not sure about the vocal part but new voices are 100% confirmed!

@oldschoolgamerz There is one game where it purposely fakes your hard drive being crashed. Ive seem some videos about it search it up. I cant remeber the name, but faking your hard drive getting destroyed seems pretty scary to me. :)

@tummilytumtum It is, but the thing with Silent Hill is that it brings the paranormal into things and it's never explained. Dead Space is purely Sci-Fi and stuff is explained eventually. You NEVER know wtf is in Silent Hill that causes all the shit to happen. There's just something inherently unsettling about something that is never explained.

@oldschoolgamerz I kind of get what you mean by psychological horror. It's the stuff that haunts your dreams for months, maybe even years. It's the stuff that makes you tremble when you think of the next playthrough. Maybe you don't scream, but you feel the fear subconsciously. It creeps within you and takes over, little by little, bit by bit, until you are plagued with fear and need to get help. That's why I rarely play hardcore horror games. My psyche can't handle it. I can try, though :)

@ARMagEDdonWATCHER hehe, I see. However, I'm afraid I am already desensitized to horror. I have seen to many movies and played to many games of that genre. That's kind of sad, cause it renders me unable to really enjoy them, but I still remember the first time a played a horror game and that was Alone in the Dark 4. I was so frightened while playing it, that I had to stop. ^^

@oldschoolgamerz Xou wouldn't only shit your pants... you would go fucking insane and crazy! If such things were real, no human will survive this AND stay normal. Your psych would get fucked up badly. But until now, I've never understood, what this blood-like stuff really is. I've seen this in a couple of other games, too... like doom 3 or warhammer 40.000 ... some kind of unreal material from another dimension. This isn't just blood... it's some evil demonic stuff. Blood doesn't kill somebody!

@oldschoolgamerz Yes and I would say that it doesn't take long... the time you normally use to play this game to the end would be enough.. and I mean ingame-time. This means living a few days in this world would make you insane.
Like ARMagEDonWATCHER said, it's a dark and extremely supernatural horror, creeping inside your psych, taking it over bit by bit. Horror consumes you! If this game frightens you so much as it did frighten me, then you can guess what would be the case if this was real.

@devilmaycry123ify Yeah, she died in the mirror room while staying in there for too long. Heather has Eisoptrophobia, meaning a fear of mirrors, and what the "Otherworld" does is to use people's fears and weaknesses in order to kill them. In Heather's case, Silent Hill created the mirror room to turn her fears into death since she always had the thought that, when she looks at her reflection, that she is not who she really looks like.

@scarletIbisluv Eh, it depends but they're all around the same length. First time, it took me about 11 hours, but a lot of that was just me getting lost haha(which can be easy since the town/building designs of SH are very realistic). Not terribly long, but they have enough in them to make you appreciate the games. After playing through, you should take a look at the translated Book of Lost Memories, which reveals how much depth was put into the original SH games(1-3).

@scarletIbisluv Yeah, but you can't immediately. As with most things in SH, it's meant to mess with your head and to reflect on the demented nature of the character(s) and the town. If you ever get to playing the games though I'd recommend starting with SH2. It's by far the best in the series imo, and doesn't have any connection to the other SH games in terms of the story. If you can get past some awkward dialogue you'll find a masterpiece of psychological storytelling.
