  • @yummydango yea,me too but i still like the twin snakes but original is better in some things

  • This scene was a lot more emotional during its PS1 heyday but the GameCube version voice actors didn't put much effort or emotion in their parts for this game..don't get me wrong it was a good remake but WON'T EVER BE AS GOOD AS THE ORIGINAL

  • Otacon: NOOOO!

    Snake: She's dead.

    Otacon: *okay face*

    MGS2

    Emma dies

    Otacon: *okay face*

I think by The 7th game he came to accept his status as Forever Alone.

  • This scene is sooooo sad... She was my favorite.

..she was using a PSG1.. That gun costs $7000!!!

  • Wow, I'd have to say that the original version was so much better, the way the music tied in right when Otacon showed up set the emotional pull way more than this one.

  • @XoXBremenDruid

i believe the voice over of wolf was much more emotional too in the original, this just sounds like a fast past of dialogues

  • 9 people don't know what they are fighting for.

  • Really people, I looked at both versions and they're all good. Sure in the Gamecube version you'll see extra cutscenes, gameplay from MGS2, but the god damn story is the same. This is for people who don't have MGS1, which is I do. This is my VERY FIRST MGS game in the series and it was amazing. I missed out because I play NIntendo mostly, I picked it up and it was a good game. Even both versions were amazing. Sure you'll see Snake dodge bullets but whatever, it's the same story!

  • @TomX356 he dodged a bullet in MGS2 too so snake dodging bullets isnt the twin snakes exclusive thing

  • 5:58 He quotes Zero

  • I know this is supposed to be sad, but I laughed when Otacon tripped.

  • What the fuck happened to the original theme?

  • @yummydango ...the soundtrack changed?

  • @NEMESIS1191 Yea, in the first Metal Gear Solid for PS1, the theme chosen for Sniper Wolf's death scene was called "Enclosure." I'm kind of upset that it didn't make it on Twin Snake's.

  • Otacon is such a pussy -_-

  • When I got to this part, my mum thought that Otacon's "I loved you" line was directed to Snake.

  • The theme of this part on the first Metal Gear Solid was the best!

  • Gay. Anime. Shit.

  • This scene owns.

  • the wolfs are howling means they crying because sniper is dying how sad =(

  • best line ever from otacon in this game at 5:48

  • Both the music and the dialogue was better in the original IMO. Wolf's reply to why she didn't kill Meryl was much more badass in the original, and Enclosure is just too good of a track to overlook for this scene.

Unrelatedly, anyone else find it kinda sad that Wolf ignores Otacon altogether in this scene? Poor dude had his heart broken and all she did was tell him to hand her her rifle.

  • hey how dare u call him a nerd

  • Actually, as someone who has played the original and TTS numerous times, I think I prefer this one. Looking back, the music was a bit out of place and not really necessary. "Enclosure" and "The Best is Yet to Come" are great songs, but the first sounded more like background music and not something that was edited to fit the emotion of the moment. As for what "yeahadoomhouse" said, only the music is different, really. The atmosphere? Same. The cinematography? It's way better in the remake.

  • Without the music, atmosphere, and cinematography of the original, this scene is garbage.

  • alot of good deaths in mgs. elisas is good to. but i think this is the best one but i nearly lost it when E.E died in mgs 2 not when she died but after when otacon is alone with the parrot. heartbreaking stuff

  • This scene isnt even half as good as it is in the original. Without the background music, it has no power at all. The ¨If we make it through this¨ line is one of the best lines, and this version does it no justice whatsoever.

  • The voice acting in this one is not as good as the original. Not to mention the movement of the characters. Nahhh, I still prefer the PSOne version.

  • some sad shit for a video game

  • i always knew what snake was saying get a head start on a new life he means if someone dies in your life go on a new path and dont go giving up on people almost like what meryl said

  • yup

  • The bit where otacon asks snake what he's fighting for sounds so amazing as a flashback on MGS4 it just fits the scene so well

  • Otacon freaking sprained his ankle like a few hours ago, he should not still be limping. Everything they change about this scene in this version is worse. There's no swelling "The Best Is Yet To Come," and the pacing is drawn out way too slowly, and some of Wolf's lines feel insincere compared to the original. *sigh*

  • You ever had a bad sprain before? You think your fine for a bit, but Otacon let his emotion's hit him and he pushed his body too far. I would know what a bad sprain is, i had to deal with it in the service. However i do too think they could have made this better, cut-scene wise was slightly improved, and game-play wise was the same for me.

  • Fair enough about the sprain, but in the original, he gets over it a lot more quickly.

The graphics improved, but the artistic direction got severely worse.

  • i think in Twin snakes they changed it so that the ninja spilts snakes shot and half of the round goes into Otacons leg if im not mistaken.

  • this is the best cutscene gaming will ever see. I'm terrified that the new mgs will be a Raiden-only title. They need to make a remake of mgs1 for the ps3 and maybe even remake the old metal gears. That would complete the series in my opinion. Everyone wants to see more of Solid Snake!!!

  • Solid Snake already fulfilled his last job.

  • i admit solid snakes missions are limited to that but they can still make the bigboss mgs games like they are in peacewalker, there will still be more after that aswell

  • i hate it when she dies :(

  • This is my favorite scene of the entire game. It is a real turning point of the story for Otacon. You see him grow up in this scene.

  • Man, I love Otacon.

  • Twin Snakes is cooler than the PSX version. But the scenes go by too fast, they should be a lot slower. Most of the strongest emotions aren't there anymore because of that. :(

  • Wait... are you saying that this iincredibly dragged on death scene is LONGER in the PSX version?!!?!

  • yer, check it out, I recommend it.

  • You've got to be kidding me. For one, Twin Snakes' cutscenes are all nearly twice as long as the PSX versions. For another, the emotions aren't there anymore in the Twin Snakes version BECAUSE they take so long! They put in all these shots without dialogue that aren't in the PSX that drag these scenes out way too much.

  • But Wolf'sdeath is not the end of the game.

  • octacon was an octaku freak with triple thick glasses

  • Poor Otacon. :<

  • Your all way to critical on the remake. Do you know David Hayter himself reunited as much of the voice cast as he could for this game.

  • LtSarge, thank you for stating the obvious, but it still doesn't proove anything.

  • Yes the "enclosure" was far better than that

  • i second that but they fucked it up with this music.

  • Ps1 versions better!

  • Its slower paced so it can be more emotional, and it's more difficult. I would recommend the Twin Snakes for noobs of the series.

  • Not for noobs, scarmullet.

  • Otocon makes me lol so hard.

WTH?!?!? Snake was super shallow to him in the PS version! now he's all encouraging him????

I honestly think the scene before and after the fight is wayy better in the gamecube version. and I liked how they included the wolves. everything else is pretty crappy

  • this is crappy, the music sucks, the best is the one in the ps1, music, crappy graphics, but i fel sadder the one in the ps1 than this 1

  • "We might not meet again" hahahaha, sure, Snake ;)

  • What Happened To Otacons Leg? I Only Played The First Level Of MGS1 So Idk.

  • He twisted his ankle.

  • But in the original 'Metal Gear Solid', his ankle was cured, before the end of the game.

  • I want to give Otacon a hug now... ;.;

  • the original's so much better for voice acting. still touching though, best thing about snake is that he understands peoples emotions.

  • there's always an enemy you don't want to kill...its like that sometimes.

  • I wanted the original audio too, that is until I saw the TTS in Japanese. They used the original audio, and it did NOT go as well as you think. Maybe if they fit the scenes with the audio....

I like some of the remake, Cam Clarke did an extraordinary job here, but voices like Paul Eiding couldve put in a little more effort. Or at the very least, not sound rushed. <_<

Still, as we ALL know, the best scene in the game was when Ocelot dropped his gun. :P

  • Annil8terxb, why do you think that was the best scene?

  • Wolf didnt even care when Otacon said "i loved you" XD

  • This scene is perhaps the most moving scene I've seen in MGS:TTS. Basically, because Snake kills her when she asks.

  • I like the remake's graphics. But I wished they kept the original Audio.... It was way more touching....

  • the better grahics make all the other characters look wierd

  • it sound so bad 1*

  • To.

  • Damn Otacon! She tried yo kill Snake!

  • Notice how wide and scary-looking her eyes were?

  • This is different music from the origional isnt it?

  • (In King Of The Hill style)

    Yep...

  • Everytime I play through this game this scene always brings me to tears.

  • Even though I've played through this game before, just now I got a little scared when Wolf said who are you because of her eyes.

  • A response to silver boards message. Do remember Hitlers so called master race with the blonde etc they were called Aryans the Muslim decent has more Aryran in the blood stream then any other race. That wasnt a racist attack :P. Btw great vid original is a lot better I thinks :D

  • Horrible remake.

  • It's true some aspects of this game sucked but other than the "questionable" cinematography and most of the voicework, this is a decent remake imo.

  • T-T

  • I really dislike the soundtrack of this version. They should have stuck with Enclousre from the orininal soundtrack.

  • otacon is always heart broken...=(

  • the same thing happens in mgs4

  • yup

  • sometimes u think the game designers are bitches.

  • naomi had teh cancer. actually she killed herself cuz she had cancer but the nano-machines kept her alive but then she took this like uhh syringe that repressed nano machined or something. SEE im smart i got the storline.

  • i dont get how sniper wolf is of muslim descent when shes white with blonde hair something i never got

  • possibly part Russian too.

  • Kurds are more often than not with light hair and eyes.

  • Why was the rifle lying so far away from her? Its not like she moved or something...

  • I guess Otacon moved it.

  • lol at 2:48

  • lol *trot trot* *fall* waht happens if the gun went off? xD

  • KABLAMMO!!! XD

  • HAHAHAHA Otacon is a classic.

Otacon: i loved you.... Now i will never get another girlfriend again!!

    lol.

  • But he'll try

    Oh he'll try ; ;

  • A lot of the changes made in this version were due to the fact that they had more tech power to work with. The music was toned down in this version so that the visuals could carry the scene - PS1 visuals could not achieve the same kind of cinematic intensity that the GCN hardware permitted. It's a decidedly different approach to the scene, but I wouldn't necessarily call it "worse".

  • Its not just about the music, theres no feeling at all, its so bland, the PS1 version, fair enough it didnt have the graphics but the actors, script music it made the scene, big whoop if the graphics look good, its no good if theres no audio to go with it, they turned a perfectly brilliant scene into crap and for what? why not just change the graphics? why change the audio aswel? the entire game was ruined.

  • gatotsu911 ,the music in this remade version wasn't "toned down", it was actually replaced.

  • leave 'em alone guys, he'll never get the feeling until he plays the game himself. Hail to the MGS and all the 'dogs of war" in it!!

  • Both the original game and the remade game have the "dogs of war" thing in it.

  • Wheres the music? The music is what made this scene so great in the original. Im glad i didnt bother with the remake.

  • I think the remake gets excessive on everything. It's a great game experience, but the cutscenes are way too big. This one, for example, is much better in the original version. The same happens whit Fox's death, that uses too mucho bullet time. Just an opinion.

  • wait, whats wrong with otacon's leg?

  • If I recall correctly, he got hit with a bullet that Snake fired at Cyborg Ninja.

This is definitely one of the best scenes in the game.

  • He diddn't got hit by that bullet! Look again and learn the real truth, before you invent lies!

  • Ummmmmm... I said, "If I recall." I haven't played the game in a while, so I'm by no means declaring my recollections to be entirely accurate.

  • I hope you acknowledge that.

  • ...I just did.

  • Good.

  • Cool.

  • he twisted his anckle retards

  • I know that.

  • i need one more remake of this game i dont know why i just need one more.

  • Otacon fell because his right leg is bust up.

  • But in the original game, he had enough time to cure his twisted ankle. Why could he do the same thing here? Because the remakers just decided to bully him, that's why.

  • lol

  • totally no feeling in this version, its such a let down, i'm so glad i made the other version!

  • Irrelevant. This isn't real. It's a story. It's a little more than life. Besides. We wouldn't be quite as introspective without it. You want to go and shoot people and have them die properly, join the military.

Till then, maintain a slightly more holistic view of the world.

  • Is that it? Just a shallow person who stands in snake's way? Why are you unwilling to see the value of plot, backstory. An explanation for why she is the way she is. It's all part of what makes her a 3 dimentional character, and if you don't like depth, interesting characters or character development then Metal Gear Solid series are not the right series for nerds like you who only care about technicalities. Get a freakin life, then you might understand the value of her telling her own story.

  • Theres nothing beautiful about the battlefield. Theres nothing beautiful about death. If you've ever seen a person die and you haven't sugarcoated your understanding of death with the false promise of an afterlife you'll be able to realize that. Once the heart stops beating and the brain shuts down the person you knew no longer exists. All thats left is a hunk of slowly decaying flesh and whatever physical and psychological impacts that person left on you and the world while living.

  • I think your 3 paragraph veer off from MGS to *atheism* of all things easily proves the point of the original poster. It seems obvious that you don't have an appreciation for the style of character depth that MGS has been delivering since it began, and that's fine. But it is what it is. It's not trying to be dark and nihilistic, and failing at it. It acknowledges that war is ugly, and shows how its characters deal with that and themselves. And as you can see among the comments, it succeeds.

  • Sniper Wolf is actually my favorite foxhound member from MGS1, because of the character development and how deep of a character she was. What makes this scene (and game) so powerful is how it draws you into all the characters. Snake didn't want to kill Wolf, and I don't think Wolf really wanted to kill Snake, but thats what you do when you're enemies. And the last moments of her life reflected the respect that two dogs of war, real soldiers rather than cold blood killers, held for eachother.

  • And besides that, ssjgeon, Sniper Wolf was under Liquid Snake's orders.

  • like wtf....

  • they should've had the enclosure song on here

  • yeah that's right! it was more dramatic!

by the way: did they overworked mgs1 for ps2 or what this version is for???

  • This is Twin Snakes, the remake of the PS1 game for the Gamecube.

  • oh i see

    thx ^^

  • Otacon is always annoying.. yet he's useful for the pointless yet useful things >=(

  • Oh my god this scene totally ruined the original's version!! Otacon, in the remake, is more hilarious and stupid than the Otacon from Metal Gear Awesome 2! And thats a bad thing in every way! Otacon was only ''crippled'' for ONE little scene when he talks to Snake after the battle with Fox and THATS IT! Here he's limping in every scene he appears in minus the codec calls obviously.

  • otacon is SUPPOSED to be comedy relief, he's a stereotypical nerd in every way!

I GOT INTO SCIENCE BECAUSE OF ANIME. JAPAN JAPAN JAPAN. UNIX. ALSO SNIPER WOLF WAS NICE TO ME AND SHES A GIRL THEREFORE SHE MUST BE IN LOVE WITH ME. *pisses himself* THIS IS JUST LIKE ONE OF MY JAPANESE ANIMES.

  • um no, otacon is NOT supposed to be comic relief, that's what johnny is for! in the original ps1 version of mgs and in mgs2 did otacon do ANYTHING that was funny or clumsy? no, he didnt(well i guess he did in some of the easter egg codec calls in mgs2 and pissing his pants in mgs1) but other than that he just provided snake with information and was an important(and bad ass) character

  • kojima's whole style of directing revolves around juxtaposing drama and comedy, and parody plays a big part in that. Otacon is a parody of western anime lovers and nerds in general. the joke was just far more subtle in the original mgs.

  • "kojima's whole style of directing revolves around juxtaposing drama and comedy, and parody plays a big part in that." Where exactly did you read this information from? Is this your assumption?

  • You can't have a character piss himself shortly after his introduction and still be called a bad ass.

  • i can and will

he's badass cuz he's willing to sacrifice himself so snake and meryl can escape at the end of the game

  • No, Otacon is comic relief. But unlike Johnny, he's a serious character in addition to that. He's one of my favorite characters in the entire Metal Gear saga.

  • Otacon shouldn't be considered "comic relief".

  • HAHAHAHAHA Otacon is a bitch. Now he man up after a while. Damn Solid Snake did in Wolf just like Boss was did in by Naked Snake.

  • Wolf is awesome. I have come to that conclusion by watching her death scene, which is a little sad.

"Why?!" Damn, Otacon. Way to make it all sadder. But a part of me was waiting for him to call or make an appearance. I can't believe they had him trip there too.

    "I'll tell you."

    "...okay!" Snerk.

  • I bet the creators of this remake enjoyed making fun of Otacon by making him acting like a bigger looser than the one you saw in the original game.

  • LOL

*what am i fighting for D:?*

*what was she fighting for D:?*

    *what r u fighting for D':?*

*if we make it through this ill tell u!*

*OK :) ill be searching too!!!! =]!!LALALA*

    that part was so funneh

  • Seriously, the lack of the original music ruined it for me. . . especially when Otacon first shows up and you would hear that gealic "La ah tee la ah an graa" X-( the music set the tone and emotion.

And the final gunshot was rather weak. . .

But the adding of the wolves I think was a nice touch.

  • That music is called "The Best Is Yet To Come".

  • Correct that's the theme. . . I bought the soundtrack, but the music I hear the most is "Enclosure" when Snake and Wolf are alone. Then beginning of "The Best Is Yet to Come" plays. . . Both are sorely missed here *cry* :-((

  • I vote for the original.... that one brings tears to my eyes...

  • man that qoute. i dont have anymore tears to shed. so dramatic.

  • Is it me, or is that tears in Snakes voice?

  • i like this scene its allot sadder than it was on ps1

  • well i also think nothing beats the classic mgs1 and i dont like how all the wolves in the twin snakes look down-syndrome

  • fatality

  • Oh god, they made Otacon even gayer in TTS.. original was better and had better voice work. This one sounded kind of without effort in my opinion.

Apart from the better graphics, the original is still the best.

  • I agree, the remake doesn't even have the "Wolf dies" theme. -_-

That theme was the whole point to this whole scene...

  • the original characters sounded like shit-nastasha for example she sounded like a fuckin wanna-be Russian the only voices i miss are gray foxes and naomi's

  • i liked the old voices mgs1 holds a place in my heart as like one of my favorite games of all time the original voices were alot better in my opinion and i still choose the original over the remake becuase i like the old graphics for nostalgia

  • yeah actually the only voice i didn't like was nastasha's voice cause she sounded like a wanna-be russian

  • Apart from graphically enhanced, they ruined this part of the game in the remake. Where's the original soundtrack for the love of? i'll have to make a version with the new video and old audio.

  • this is too sad T_T :P

  • 3:50 LOL I pretended the wolves transltions were "DINNER!!!!"

  • oh thats fucked up

  • no pugwishbone17 they were howling "otacon is never gonna get laid now"

  • chaz84720 ,who qualified you as a wolf-dog speaker?

  • haha i was just joking so dont get your ass hurt about it

  • i was just joking so fuck off who ever thought that was a bade comment

  • I was joking too.

  • oh well that was just a joke wolfs death is almost as sad as the boss's death

  • No, The Boss is one of those Women with a capital "W".

  • capitol W?
