  • This was a very confusing trailer ... i didn't know what the hell was going on half the time.

  • anyone know if this is out yet?

  • Damnatus is available unofficialy via Bittorrent.

  • Ok first, FYI this film has been leaked and it is now quite simple to watch and or download online. But on another note, god forbid that I be the selfish American, but, I wish there was an English Dub.

  • update guys. i watched from an underground gaming nerd fest who has the movies on dvd and i watched it. i gota say this is on the same level with the official one but with a better story and a grater twist. like the one produced was sort of expected but this one was not. i loved it. i really felt for the guys. anyways hope you guys dont give up your search for this movie. it is out there. just how deep are you willing to go down the rabbit hole?

  • @TonPappa

    hey PM me

  • I watched the ending

    They failed.

  • i was learning German in school just to watch this when i herd of the ban a few years ago and now i decided to comment on it now.sucks about stupid petty laws.i wonder if there is an underground gaming group cult dedicated to let true fans watch this secretly? wouldn't surprise me ^_^ anyways i think this is the holy grail of fan movies that we will never get to see.this is almost like that dare i say it halo movie but in the end it not meant to be but im sure they finished it but ya really sad.

  • Could someone translate the character's dialogue?

  • wow.. the 41st millennium is better in German

  • makes sense i never saw any space jews

  • It's sorta lame that Games Workshop suppressed this film. Do you see Lucusfilm suppressing fan films? Paramount supressing Star Trek fan films?

  • this movie was amazing considering it was done on a shoestring budget, the graphics, the storyline and frankly the acting were 100 times better than some blockbuster hollywood pieces of crap that have had millions poured into them. plus this will be even better that the CGI "ultramarines" movie thats coming out soon

  • My god, this clip is a real magnet for some stupid childish people. This is not a Hollywood blockbuster with a budget of 200 million. It's fanmade. FANMADE!!! The budget was about 20000. The guy who directed the movie is an amateur student and in general the movie didn't promise to be anything else but a fanmade movie about Warhammer 40k. That said, the movie itself is more refreshing than most shallow crap Hollywood pumps out nowadays.

  • I'm more excited to see this than Ultramarine.

  • In the grim darkness of the far future there is only Deutsch

  • The Imperial Guard are communists. Commisars, lices worth less than ammo...

  • @stgMilade No, they are faciests, though I dont blame you for not knowing the diference... *grumble*

  • You know, if the Imperium wasn't fascist basterds that shoot on suspicion(Commisar), then all of the guardsmen would just becom Chaos Heretics, then we marines would only have the Inquisition as our allies, and, if let alone in a room with them, you had better hope that they're wearing strait-jackets, because they are all crack head killers

  • i cant believe they took it down from Youtube it was an amazing vid

  • Space Naz... Nevermind.

  • @Amanocte Yeah the only downside to the Imperium: its facist. :( Other than that they kick ass! Plus at least its alien species they hate the only humans they hate are "heretics" and mutants and unsanctioned psykers and Tau sympathisers and intellectuals and free thinkers... um... still sounds bad :(

  • @kingkong381 In a world like warhammer 40k, there is no way a administratum could ever be something non-fascist.

And as you can see, it works.

  • This clip is such an inspiration to play Dark Heresy and or Rogue Trader it hurts. Damnation to GW for not allowing the film to be released. IAs far as i'm concerned they could have gotten all creative rigths, just giving the character names as credit for those that made it.

  • Nice stuff!

  • What are you guys talking about? Watch the movie before you give it a bad rating -.-

Sure, you don't get Astartes/Orks/Eldar or epic battles or the like. But the secret fight against heretics and cults is nicely shown! Especially the warp is displayed really good!

And... the guys had limited resources, so give don't compare it to famous Hollywood Sci-Fi ;)

  • this is not even worth looking at because they don't even look like they are supposed to.

  • @Xramas So. They made a huge effort anyway. Plus if u mean stuff like uniforms. Then u can just say that its the local IG uniforms. It varies from planet to planet u know! Don't obbsess over the little things!

  • Is this supposed to be a warhammer 40k movie? They can just scratch it right now if it is...

  • @Xramas They did. It was fan-made but really good for a low budget film. No SM's, Eldar,Orks, Tau, 'nids etc. It was about the secret fight between inquisitors and heretics. It had one Daemon that posessed a few guys. So no epic battles. Gw banned it cause of German copyright laws :(. But people have been able to get it off of torrents and I've seen it on YouTube in 11 parts

  • @kingkong381 is it in english

  • @idiot2142 No it was subtitled. But they've been removed now :( still u can prob still get it on download sites

  • Man, this reminds me exactly how shitty my German is.

  • so its eldar vs IG ?

  • Awesome...put it immediately in a playlist!

    Maybethey are speaking Imperial Gothic?LOL

    Great job/sehr gut!

  • @maggoli67 What seyathee soule?

  • holy crap this was an awsome film why didnt games workshop accept it

  • My understanding is that German copyright law had some weird clause in it that would have required all of GW's trademarks moved into the public domain, or something equally retarded.

  • I am uploading the whole damn thing to youtube - its that awesome!

  • Holy fuck! Hallelujah!

  • Praise be to you good sir.

  • meh, i merely uploaded it. Thanks to the actors

  • WOW you could do it better? Dont critize others work when yourself dont have none

  • Considering it was made six years ago, you have to put time in as a factor. Plus, it's an independent movie. Pretty pictures are expensive. Graphics don't make the movie anyway...

  • I know, nor those it look good

  • Is that a drop pod at 2:38? Damn...If this movie was released it would be epic. There may be space marines in it...

  • It looks really amazing for a fan movie, and generally quite good... I definitely want to see it now !

  • The project has unfortunately ended due to some issues. But you can find more trailers to watch

  • The project was ended due to legal issues, but I completely understand GW's decision. All the petitions are frankly stupid, as there is no way in hell GW would just give up Warhammer 40,000K. Maybe if they changed the stupid German copyright law....

Regardless, the movie is out on torrent, although you'll have to search pretty far and wide to find it.

  • i agree , peter jackson fits the description after LOTR ! i cud imagine an epic battle in the future , with orks perfectly portrayed by him , the film wud be immense

  • toll gemacht für einen unkommerziellen(!) fanfilm.

  • Sieht kacke aus, hoffe wir erleben noch einen echten Warhammer 40.000-Kinofilm.

  • Your prayer got answered, apparently. =)

A real 40k movie has been announced: 'Ultramarines'.

  • Yes but that will be a fully CGI film. Think "Appleseed: Ex Machina" or "Final Fantasy: Spirits Within." I think this format is better even if it looks like a "Syfy channel" production.

  • dont fell bad, you can still download this masterpiece from piratebay!

  • Comment removed

  • 41. Jahrhundert?

Das kann ja nur Warhammer 40k sein. ;P

Wahrscheinlich gibt's aber keine Space Marines zu sehen. Wo findet man auch schon über 2 Meter große Schauspieler?

    ;P

  • Nee, 41. JAHRTAUSEND.

  • maybe you should give it a run then...

  • chubby preacher looks just like friar tuck, lol

  • Space Germans from the future!

  • For fan-made, it's actually quite good. If it were on television, it would be laughable, though. But with only a few improvements it could be at least as good, production-quality-wise, as Doctor Who or the "SyFy" channel's made-for-tv movies. And actually, I think the German language works well, given the context. Subtitles?

  • Better than pretty much anything I've seen on scifi channel. Especially their movies.

  • anyone else think zack snyder should direct an actual 40k movie?

  • Very yes.

  • @jezz555 If he have the Emperor's Blessing that is. :3

  • boah is der scheiße gemacht

  • lol i guess its pretty good for fan-made

  • and wahts with the pulling the 'smug' faces when talking ?? for example 1.30 ?? lmaooo

    and its in german...

  • the acting is wankkkkk!!!!!!!

  • i play 40k... but this is terrible. The acting is *crap* and the whole thing is a bit too nerdy for my liking (granted, it's 40k, but it doesn't have to be like this.) . Go to conventions with your costumes, and leave film-making to real film-makers.

  • 2:22 A bit of military gay love? lol

  • Hey it gets lonely on the frontlines.

  • I WANT TO SEE THAT!

  • The costumes are amazing but the camera work and sets are pretty horribad.

  • wow this looks really stupid and dont take me wrong im a big 40k fan but this just looks plain bad.

  • torrent on TPB

  • Its in the web at least!! visit dakkadakka for the link! Nice movie

  • anyway ive already signed the petition and it stands strong at 8000 plus! For the Emperor!!!

  • The actors are almost so terrible like in the german show K11 XD

  • The main guy in green makes me think of Kal Jericho. Minus the long braids

  • anyone know where to get the subtitles for this???

  • I know that it has been banned an all... anyone know of an online copy ;)

  • i jumped to 2:23 and thought the guys were makin out lol

  • Have you even READ the background? The Imperial Guard ARE Nazis!

  • That just makes them more awesome

  • i always thought IG were more based off the Russian army, being numerous and having comissars and stuff. I thought the Space Marines were more Germanic with also Roman influences.

  • Adqe2all the IG are speaking in German as it is a German made film.

  • IG is based on various real and fictional armies

Example Cadians look like Starship Troopers

Armagedon and Krieg look german army(WW1 WW2)

    Vahalat look Russian(WW2) etc

  • @StCircus Nah, theyre less compitent and more numerous.

  • @StCircus pay attention to the storyline. The Guard are not nazis. they're just a massive army. If you want to consider them akin to anything in WW2 they're closer to the Russian army with the Political Officers (aka commissars). The whole universe mirrors a more advanced dark age/midieval

  • @StCircus Not really Nazis.. similar, sure, but God has literally walked among them (albeit 10,000 in the past) and told them that the humans are the race that should dominate the universe. I'd call them more like Crusaders than Nazis.

  • @xfx1118

nazis tried to exterminate gays and muslims and jews

crusaders tried to exterminate gays and muslims and jews

i fail to see the difference.

  • @Robstailey

nazis tried to exterminate gays, gipsies and jews* FTFW

I invite you to read some more to learn how nazis and muslims collaborated.

  • @xfx1118 The Emperor is not a god. He is a man who became more than any of his peers ever dared try, and he was given knowledge and power beyond normal means, and though he may be the collective, single beacon of hope to humanity against the blights of Xenos and Chaos, he is no god.

    Misunderstanding leads to doubt.

    Doubt leads to confusion.

    Confusion leads to heresy.

    The emperor protects.

  • @XaleManix

Yeah, I posted this before reading into the Horus Heresy series and getting some actual 'truths' about what happened (albeit still very vague). That said, as far as they were concerned in the 40th millennium he was God which is the part that matters. I'm not sure how the Lecticio divitatus took off as it did though since it was pretty explicit with the whole Logar thing that the Emperor is not a God. Still waiting for the Horus part of the Heresy too...

  • @XaleManix My friend, in the modern Warhammer 40k setting you would be tortured and killed as a heretic if you ever voiced claims like that. Unless you were a Space Marine.

  • @StCircus LOL THEY'RE RUSSIANS!!!! DEATH KORPS OF KRIEG ARE NAZIS DUMBASSES

  • @StCircus That's what makes them cool. Thank's god WH 40k universe is no politicaly correct bullshit about tolerance, equality and hippie flower festivals and romantic soap operas...

  • @YuriPRIME You make it out as if you want reality to be like 40k. Like George Orwell's Nineteen Eighty-Four, the 40k universe is one which we should prey NEVER really happens. As for 'politically correct bullshit', you could argue that the Imperium's religiously fueled fanatical xenophobia is a parody of modern religiously fueled fanatical xenophobia.

  • @SnakeOnAPlane Lol, than you are faar from thurth, I would shit myself scared to live in that world, all my concern is simply about motion picture fashion we got nowdays and which enforces to present humanity as valiant, tolerant guyardians of democracy and peace:Star trek, SG, Farscape etc

And I'd never say that it's a parody of modern day xenhophobia, i'd say that nowdays we lie to ourselves that (at least in TV) we are more tolerant than in Reality, which is kinda a parody of utopian paradise

  • @YuriPRIME Ah, yes... and I just got god damn bored of the same schematic that almost all sci-fi universes in popular culture nowdays present. Starting on movies, ending on games. So try to read this statement of mine once more, mate :P and understand that I'm just glad to see something NEW in my favorite genere of sci-fi :P

  • Yes and Imperial Guardsmen are what? Democratical? This movie actualy looks pretty good so that troll type comment is just idiotic

  • Looks lame. I commend the efforts of the fans. But I think a big studio needs to take on Warhammer 40k. For a movie like this, you need big money for sets and costumes that don't look crap.

  • To be fair, the guy did spend 10,000 Euros on it. Pretty big for a fan film.

  • Nazis in space? Dude, the Imperium of Man let´s the third Reich look like a bunch of cute little kittens.

  • i like cute little kittens ^_^ ...was there a 1st and 2nd reich also?

  • Afaik, the 1st was the Holy Roman Empire.

And the 2nd was what Bismarck created.

  • thats a big span of time between there reichs then idnt it?

  • Between 1st & 2nd, yes. Between 2nd & 3rd, well, the 2nd Reich ended with WWI.

  • OMFG read the books sometimes...

  • ....whats a book?

  • OMG best comment on YT man 100/5 XD ROTFL

  • Though to be honest German sounds grimdark enough anyway

  • I don't think the language is a problem...

No one really knows what low gothic sounds like, it's just translated as english in the books.

And hight gothic is not really latin either, they just made it like that to make it sound old and stuff.

  • Low Gothic is something like modern English with all the dialects and stuff; High Gothic is the Queen's English and how knights are supposed to have spoken in the 14th century.

  • Actually High Gothic is Latin.

  • i will give everything i had in my whole life for a working terminator suit

  • I wish.

  • I would pay large sums of cash for that techpriest outfit.

  • Its a fan made project - therefore its very good and better than some B-Movies.

  • xXxkazamaxXx...I prefer a fan made movie than Uwe Boll version

  • The film doesnt look as bad as i thought it would. the language things ok too. Das Boot was all in german and i still watched it.

And there are bazillions of different languages in 40k, so it adds a little 'authenticity'. cause not everyone in every film speaks english. They should work out some way to release the movie.

  • The problem is NOT with the GW copywrite laws, but deals with the German copywrite law stating that anything that an artist makes, he/she has full property of it. So, if this movie was released, then WH40k could, according to German Law, be the directors property.

  • i ask myself, what the story of this movie is.

is the c`tan on mars finaly awake?

  • Okay, based on my limited knowledge of the German language, it would seem the movie's about a Imperial Guard detachment investigating some old, sealed up site or something, on an abandoned planet, and then them having to battle against either a Daemon or Daemonhost.

  • yeah...you really dont need to know german to get that lol

  • Wouldn't it mean that GW already lost the copyright when the trailer got released?

  • If they let this film go out then there would be essentially no copyright on GW products

  • GW has been fattening they wallets for far too long. And as if they weren't rich enough, they sacrifised quality for more profit. I mean, look at White Dwarf. Look how miserable it became when they appointed Owen Rees( pretending to be the White Dwarf). Look at the star-reaching prises. I no longer give a Euro to this damned company. But if they made a 40K movie, I would be happy to see it. 'till then, GO FAN MOVIES!

  • to all those who say they should allow the release of the film, let me make this clear: gw would lose a lot of control over the intellectual property through the german copyright laws. if you were gw, and stood to lose money by the bucketload as a load of hawks cashing in on your business, would you allow this film to be released???

  • Its way to dusty to see anything but it looks alright.

I think that someone should make like a low budget short film about warhammer 40k thats really good and show ot to gamesworkshop to show them what a full budget movie could will be like.

like what niel blomkamp did with halo landfall.

  • Maybe it´s not so "professional" like other production with a high budget, but I think that these guys deserve some credit for their work.

For those who bash the film: I would like to ask you doing it better than this. I nighter could create those CGI nor making those props.

I don´t buy it that they cant release it because it would violate some murky copyright thingy laws. There are tonns of Star Wars and Trek fan movies aroudn and nobody seems to have an issue with that.

  • sssssssssssshhhhhhhhhhhhhiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit

  • its things like this this that make you lose faith and trust in GW, why dont they let Rick Preistly decide, he was the one who thought of warhammer 40k in the first place!!

then again theres those sodding policies

  • it doenst look that amazing tbh

  • This looks very amateurish. Better off doing a CGI film ala Beowulf.

  • Wow. I admire the intent. Unfortunately this looks a tad much like star wars set in WW2. Would it really be so hard for Games-Workshop to let something like one of Dan Abnett's epic series become a movie or tv series done by professionals with lots of capital to produce a quality work. That would promote sales for them by introducing a fun game to lots of new players. Not to mention it would make for an epic movie. One thing though, it needs Space Marines. That is 40k's main thing.

  • To bad about how bitchy Games Workshop is with their license. Now we may never see this...

  • due to some weird german copyright law, they'd have to give ALL the 40K IP to the makers of this if it was published. In short, they'd lose the single most valueable thing they've got. It sucks, but they really cannot give up that IP.

  • Yeah, well tell that to Black Industries. They are shutting them down because every copy of Dark Heresy sold out on its release. GW is run by lawyers who don't care about the customer anymore, only profits. If they have to make the fans mad to get a couple of pounds, they don't mind. It isn't right, even if they have to give up their IP. Games Workshop's loyalty should be to the fans, not their wallets.

  • Yhea. they should. but then Again, they are a company, and DO have to make a profit.

Also, most of black industries remit, including Dark heresy, Is being taken over by a third party company called 'Fantasy Flight Games'. They annouced it about a week ago. It appear that in a bid to stablise thier rather shakey finances, their outscouring side projects, and getting someone else to put in the money while they reap the royalties.

why they didn't annouce this sooner is beyound me.

  • yeah i found out about it yesterday, it still annoys me though.

  • Damn right. They should do it for the fan's sake or buy the movie or something

  • damm GW,i gonna see a true techpriest =C,but...whats the ennemy?

  • enemy is probably chaos and heresy.

  • agreed

  • well looking at all the normal humans who are like not in space marine armor I would guess it would be something about the Imperial Guard

This dissapoints me as I was hoping to see the Blood Angels in battle, suppose I'll have to wait.

  • damn... DAMN! what's it basically about? is it the Ordo Malleus(not spelled right) or something? it looks amazing!

    -Mersi "Redeemer"

  • I heard a different version... In facts, it's German Laws which won't permit the release of this movie.

In that version of the facts, the makers want to give the rights to Games Workshop to be able to give it to the public but the German laws can't permit that. That's all.

  • thats stupid. why dont they allow this movie? -.-

  • 'Cause they're complete and total assholes who're trying to piss all over their fanbase and destroy their own company piece by piece. :( Also that whole thing taking down Black Industries 2 days after the monumental and instantaneous sell-out-release of Dark Heresy? Smart move, jerks... I used to like GW. I really did.

  • Hmm... strangely, German suits the 40k universe...

It'd lack the same brooding zing in English... Like Rammstein songs...

  • Basicaly the Reich fits very well

  • was just thinking how well teh german suits the fluff

  • fuck the gw they ruin everything they touch

especially things built by amteur spirit

i really wonder could they refuse the same offer if the hollywood come with?

  • This movie will not be published :(

    GW stopped it :(

  • co to do chuja pana ma być??

  • doseofreality69, for me, a WH40K lover, it's alright that it's not in english, considering that most regiments in 40K have their own language and generally communicate with other regiments or other worlders in Low Gothic (something like english) and have High Gothic as the formal language (something like latin)

  • Could someone translate it to me?I don't speak German :-(

  • If that's the only hitch, then why not ask them for a job, then finish the film as a "work for hire" venture??

  • why the put the Games workoshop logo and ''suport'' to realease the game if the movie is only for fans and dont take money

  • Well, the unfortunate "miss" that has occured was not knowing german law, and just going by Games Workshop's policy.

But however, I do not understand how people making a film they want to release internationally, with the IP basis in england chose to make the film in german?!?

It sounds so wrong, and dubbing it will be even dumber - I'm from sweden and if I made a fanflic I'd never do it in swedish!

  • There are people who have made fan movies before, like the Star Trek: Beginnings tv show and the "return of the Ghostbusters". Both had large production times and costs and the ST show even featured original ST cast/actors (Sulu, Checkov to name but two), and both were "given" to the internet for free.

  • This however has to do with german law, if GW does not act against such an act. They forfeit their rights to their own IP in germany it seems.
