@100silverpizza go right ahead buddy, what are u going to tell them, theres videos of ppl on here making pipe bombs, im sure they have better things to do, and u need to get a life
@kotton87 Wow, 100silverpizza, you're a fucking retard. You seriously have nothing better to do than try and feel important by calling the FBI about a kid doing something completely legal, and something they probably won't give two shits about. For all you know it could have been a science experiment, which actually, it is. I would say get a life, but I highly doubt nobody wants you around. So do us all a favor and swallow some acetone. Fucking moron.
@kotton87 no you dont, you just have to push it down before you light it so you have plenty of time to get away from it after it is lit. Y u no understand
@kotton87 u should have stuck the sparkler into the thermite with the spark endpoint inside the thermite mixture. then you light it. the buffer time that you have to run away is from the top of the sparkler to when it meets the thermite. much safer. there is much to learn my young padawan
@kotton87 You coulda have used a fuse n wrapped it around a strip of magnesium ribbon at the end. It wouldve lit the magnesium n then lit the thermite. Just sayin.
@CertifiedBad4ss in saying that i didnt watch him stick the white hot end stright in the thermite before i just commented why not use the sparkler as a fuse wow that was stupid
@CertifiedBad4ss When you use thermite for rail welding you light the magnesium sparkler and put it down the hole in the top of the container and wait. It doesn't light instantly. But we don't have ice under the container, we have rails and a brick mould. If it was unsafe to do it like that, we wouldn't do it.
@massacreman3000 Thats what some folks think, personally i think its a bit more complex than that. It's feasible that when the molten iron comes into contact with the ice the iron is oxidized by the oxygen in h2o much like sodium metal when added to water as a result vast amounts of hydrogen gas are released and ignited by the heat of the thermite reaction.
@coconut7joemanji if that was hydrogen going up, then the explosion would have been more like a fireball instead of that rain of metal. my there is that when the super heated liquid metal iron hit the ice, the ice was evaporated and vaporized so quickly that the result steam blew the still liquid metal into the air.
@sloob206 have you seen hydrogen explosions? there is very little light produced as there this no carbon to produce a yellow/orange flame. Also as thermite reactions are in the 3000 C territory and the thermal decomposition of water is 2000 C then hydrogen must be being produced. Also hot metals like iron react with water to form a metal oxide and hydrogen gas. So its most probably a combination of both hydrogen and steam explosion hence me saying "i think its a bit more complex than that".

Why the fuck are you throwing the magnesium down the container?
Why not use it like a regular fuse and not almost blow up and/or incinerate you both?
CertifiedBad4ss 4 months ago 12
@CertifiedBad4ss, its a sparkler, u have to lite it and push it down into the thermite. I've tried a fuse before and it wouldnt work
kotton87 4 months ago 11
@kotton87 Then why not light the sparkler from the bottom and stick the tip into the thermite?
And yes, you can light a sparkler from the bottom, its just harder.
Also, I know a fuse won't work, what I meant was to use the (what i thought was) magnesium as a fuse.
Cool vid anyway!

@kotton87 no you dont, you just have to push it down before you light it so you have plenty of time to get away from it after it is lit. Y u no understand

@kotton87 Sparklers contain magnesium

@CertifiedBad4ss A normal fuse more than often isn't enough to ignite the Thermite.
Magnesium has a much higher burning temperature.
Hellsadvocate 4 months ago
@Hellsadvocate I know, you aren't listening to me.
I thought you were using magnesium. And then I said use it LIKE a fuse, were you stick one end in the thermite and light the other end.
You can do the same with a sparkler, just stick in the top and light the bottom.

lol we weld with thermit.. and it specifically says not to weld in the rain cos it reacts exactly like that in the video.
but our dodgey company just says.. put up a tent, however when the rain goes sideways its suicide.
