Clear win Gassoff, he pounded howatt into the ice, when gassoff hit howatt with that right that knocked the helmet off howatt, from that point gassof owned howatt and pounded him into the ice. CLEAR EASY WIN GASSOFF. They said when Gassoff died in the motor cycle accident that there was a sigh of relief in the NHL because everyone was so scared to fight him. When he played for the Medicine Hat Tigers in juniors he was very tough as well.
Hey PhatBackbeat - why don't you tell 2x Stanley Cup Champion Garry Howatt he is a pussy ? I don't think you would. Gassoff left us way too young - and given the death of Boogard today ( I don't know what caused it) - sad to reflect on both being gone so young. Gassoff sure could fight. So could Howatt. They fought twice in Gassoff's career - so no back down in either guy.
is that George Michael of the Sports Machine announcing with Tim Ryan? Gassoff was one of the toughest guys in the league. Sad that his life had to end too soon.
This was the first NHL game I ever attended! I was 11 and Gassoff aka The Gasser immediately became one of my favorites. He also scored a goal in this game (ended 4-4) and was named #1 star.
Bob Gassoff first captured my imagination when I read about him in Dave William's book in which he describes Bob as being one of the toughest ever. I wondered, who was this guy? Thanks to youtube, I now see a little bit of who he was. Too bad there is not more footage. Even worse, that he died so young.
@pharoe316 true... I remember back when Williams took on Gassoff on a saturday night at maple leaf gardens and Gassoff bloodied Williams pretty good. I never seen to many players do that to the old tiger.
I SURE enjoyed watching him play. He was, and is, my favorite hockey player of all time. Being a St. Louis native, he made me so proud! My best to your family!! Please know that there are LOTS of Bob Gassoff fans in this town!!
this is great, haha all th boys have a style like that, never getting the chance to meet my uncle i enjoy watching interviews and clips of him, thanks for posting this up
George Michael. One of the worst announcers in history.

I remember when he played for the Denver Spurs. He was one tough customer. The Seattle Totems had no answer for him.
