For people who say that NBA players are more athletic today. Outside of LeBron, Rose, Howard, who are you guys talking about? John Salmons? Kirk Hinrich? JJ Reddick? Jamal Crawford? Jameer Nelson? Tayshuan Prince? Ben Gordon? Jason Terry? Keith Bogans? Michael Redd? Andrew Bogut? Zaza Pachulia? Mike Bibby? Steve Nash? Lamar Odom? Zach Randolph? Mehmet Okur? Tony Douglas? You mean these super-athletic guys??
@LifeFirst lebron, rose, howard and no one else? how bout dwayne wade, kevin durant, blake griffin, russell westbrook, kobe bryant, john wall, carmelo anthony, rudy gay, deron williams, chris paul, amare stoudamire, josh smith, brandon jennings, tony parker, tyreke evans, ty lawson, andre inguodala, rodney stuckey, shannon brown, deandre jordan, gerald wallace? but hey, nice way to try to make your point my naming a bunch of white guys and old guys, and otherwise irrelevant players.
i feel like number 7 would have been number 1 nowadays in the NBA...
did you know 'nowadays' is a real word because i didn't. but spell check didn't correct me. learn something new every day. i'll definitely use that in an english paper now
@joekiddlouischama watch desmond mason or VC highlight videos (just to name 2) and try and say people cant do that type of dunk in game with todays athletes
@kevmacd12 I wasn't knocking "today's athletes," just saying that I hadn't recalled any of them executing that Doug West-style dunk in a game. But now that you mention Carter, I do remember him delivering that sort of jam as a rookie in 1999.
My essential point was that people mindlessly claim that players are so much more athletic now, when plenty of players were just as athletic twenty years ago. Obviously, folks become lost in the moment and are victims of the hype.
@joekiddlouischama dunk #9 similar but just not under the rim and going forwards not baseline, #6 the same thing as West's but with the defender (david robinson) ACTUALLY trying to block, just to show 2 examples. as for todays players, they are FAR more athletic than the past players as a whole, not to say that the past players weren't good athletes, but the training and knowledge is just far superior nowadays, making better athletes (add /watch?v=qU0ZrW1idXA&feature=related to youtube.com)
@kevmacd12 And it's becoming necessary to be athletic to be able to keep up with the current players. Take the PG position for example. There weren't athletes like Rondo, Rose and Westbrook (to name a few) back 15-20 years ago. The new age of NBA is becoming more about athleticism and less about pure skill
@kevmacd12 Guys like Kevin Johnson, Robert Pack and Rod Strickland would beg to differ. The athletes are no better today than they were in the 90's. Evolution like that doesn't happen over a decade. lol.
@joekiddlouischama Also, just a fun video you might enjoy showing some amazing dunks (best dunk video ive seen on youtube, add /watch?v=jRSJ6RBvmws to youtube.com0

Notice how Kemp point at the guy after dunking on him? Can't do that today anymore. You'd get a T.

@EVSjahms ... yeah, an amazing dunk by West. For all the hype about today's athletes, I haven't seen any of them deliver that type of dunk in a game.
