I'm with you - I don't like the thick piece you get by sticking the short flaps together - I cut the end off of the short flaps and make them into small pockets.
Aha... I just found your tutorial for covering the mini w/ paper! (May I put in a request to see how you make covers out of canvas and fabric?) I would love some instruction on closures too, if you feel up to it. (Perhaps you've done these already but I just haven't located them yet...) -So glad to have found you.
@9doves Hi! Thanks for all the nice comments! I recently completed a mini album that was covered in fabric but I was rushing to get it done as it was for a gift so I didn't do a tutorial on the fabric cover. Making a tutorial on constructing the chipboard covers is one of the things on my list of things to do - so the next time I make a book like that, I will do a tutorial on it.
What a wonderful tutorial this is. I greatly appreciate watching the step by step construction in your presentation. (-So glad that you left out the hokey music that so many folks here on YouTube seem so fond of)! I wish however, that you completed the book with a cover...perhaps there is another vid which shows this? Please-more tutorials to share the rest of your creative process would be welcome! You are terrific!
@shasha01093 You can create a pocket by adhering the flap to the next paper bag. If you put adhesive only on the sides and the bottom of the flap, the top will be open when you adhere it to the next bag. I hope that makes sense. :)
@papernlace123 Hi Nicole! I believe these are, but I'm not sure. I have so many different sizes of paper bags laying around and I don't remember exactly which bags I used for this video! Sorry, I'm not of more help! :) Laurel
Thankyou so much for this step by step tutorial. I have the cinch, can I use that to punch holes in the sides or do you recommend something else. Thanks.
@The5blessings Hi! Are you wanting to add a binding for cosmetic reasons? The papers that cover the bags also hold the bags to each other. There is no need to use rings or binding combs to hold the bags together. Hope that helps! :) Laurel
Thanks for this tut. I'm a visual learner and you've made it so easy to follow. What I'm most impressed with is your ATG skills. You lay your tape so straight and close to the edge without going over. I'm a mess with mine. TFS
I have also used your first video tutorial for this modified pb mini and this method truly makes a wonderful difference... thanks again for taking the time to do these tutorials!
Laurel, since you put out the first video using this method, I have made 7 this way. I really like this way better. I think it gives the album a nicer flow to it and not so chopped up. You can check out my Glad Tidings album on my channel and see one of the ones I did using your method. I am so glad you shared with us. Thanks!
rock on!! you did such a great job explaining. I'm definitely a visual learner, so this has helped me a ton! Once again, thank you for sharing!
