One of the coolest and sexiest intros ever for a sci-fi flick! And it is pretty disco-ish. Haven't seen that movie since thirty years but Pamela Hensleys hips alone convinced me that I should watch it again ...
@Trepidity "I think this tv series/movie is partially responsible for my current attraction to women. Erin Gray to this day is super sexy ..." yes, the same for me and a lot of our generation
I've never seen this before. Quite like it. No wonder they had to edit it though. - drags on a bit and looks more like something from a Bond movie. I like the way it cuts into Kip Lennons song .. all very nice .
basically it was just a sign of the times...today, an actor like that wouldn't even get a look in - everything is youth oriented now. It'd be a 25 y/o male with girlie features etc...Those days men had hairy chests and showed them! (Buck even shows his hairy back in one episode) :) BUT having said all that I do love the political in-correctness of those times...the intro for instance wouldn't happen now, it's too much 'male fantasy' and sexist for nowadays. Go Buck!
He was a believable age for an astronaught and officer in the airforce. Women half his age is just fine as long as its legal. Political correctness be damned. They wanted somebody that looked like he had age and experience working in his favor. William Shatner in Star Trek was similar in my opinion, or Harrison Ford in Star Wars for that matter.
As a 13 year old English boy growing up watching Buck Rogers I can't tell you the size of the crush or the thousands of errections Erin Gray \ Wilma gave me.Ahhhhhh!
just randomly thought about this show, did a search and clicked on this video... absolutely loved this show when I was a kid! cant wait to review more clips from the show. and yes, its hard to believe that the opening titles ran 4:07!
I agree with the others that the 70's seemed like a more innocent and beautiful time. the 80's was a low point in style and fashion and I have little sentimentality for that period.
Such a fine melodic music back in those days was only possible because the people, by their strict upbringing, which also perceived the environment much more sensitive, was conditioned in a sensitive way. Such an awareness of emotional things is now completely eliminated by the uncontrolled growth of the modern youth by listen Rap / Hip Hop music or watching porn movies. The own ego comes first because the character is without emotions. And the whole thing is called "Cool".
@ganimed1976 I quite agree... Being born in 1974, I wouldn't say I had a strict upbringing, but one where I just don't, can't and never can relate to the ego driven rap and hip hop of today, so I tend to have a preference for emotional, melodic music such as this Buck Rogers theme tune!...
@ganimed1976 Wow! What a narrow minded person you are. Where do I begin? You saying that there is no melodic music out there at the moment? You need to expand your horizons if thats the case. Kids listening to music which the older generation thinks is crap is nothing new, but the way you speak is a huge genralisation bordering on arrogance. And porn lol, porn is one of the oldest forms of entertainment. Kids watching porn is nothing new but to attach itto emotions is silly.
This makes me feel like I'm from another era. Can't believe how rotten and brutish things have become since then. We really need to go back to the 70s and 80s way of life and thinking to get the World back into shape. We must teach younger generations that Innocence and Generosity are not wrong, and that we all must have values and not just interests. Oh, yeah: and bring back spandex!
Nothing better than seeing all the female cast members sprawled out in bikinis....dam they're hot! The theme song and whoever the dweeb was who sang it totally suck though. Hit the mute button the next time you watch this, you'll enjoy it a lot more :-)
@peteroberts79 LMAO,Ken had some serious compition back then :) My God,I loved this show as a kid,Erin Grey ,well, even at 6 I knew she was hot :) But,WTF,lyrics? Really? I do not remember those naff, nasaly whinney lyrics at all......

but still.... you'd think if they grew so adept at space travel in the intervening centuries, they'd have found his ship at some point or another and rescued him much sooner.

@composerdoh ah! ah! ah! that's funny your mom probably thought there was some sex scene in the movie , my parents used to do the same whenever a guy started to kiss a woman on tv , but for buck rogers they did'nt , and i think the intro was censored .

I loved this show when I was in 1st grade. That being said, it's totally unwatchable cheese now.

I was always amazed Pamela Hensley and Erin Gray were in the intro too when there names were mentioned. Thank god Henry Silva and Tim O'Connor werent the posing in their silver underware when their names were posted. Great song, movie and series though.

Who is the name of the man that is narrating this intro? Is it the same man that played Frank Cannon in the TV Series Cannon?
