Just Read Nikki Sixx's Heroin Diaries... if it wasn't for sixx's and slashs relationship and sixx pushing for guns' to be on tour with them, they might not have been as successful... they were right about to get dropped from geffen records apparently right before sixx put them on the tour and they ended up getting just the right amount of momentum to promote AFD

Yeah, but the band should've helped him with his addiction. Kicking him out just made it worse. One of the reasons Izzy left was because he said that Stevens sound was better for the band then Matt Sorums sound.
According to Slash's Biog, Izzy left because he was clean and everyone else was strung out still and he couldn't be around them. Also Izzy to this day doesn't want to be part of a hugely popular band. GnR were too big for him... he just wants to play and go home of his own accord. I agree that kicking Steven out only made him worse though. He says at that point he just did everything in his power to kill himself. Sad. Glad he's sober now and I hope it lasts this time.
i think steven is a great guy, but the that he did everything to kill himself part is just that he feels sorry for himself.. a bit of a whine to be honest.. cause if he really wanted to die he would have been dead by now

My point I think originally I think was though, that kicking him out was hypocritical... but typical of a band who at the time were all high as kites. As long as you could play/perform alongside your drug/drink problem that was ok. Steven couldn't, so they ditched him. Sad, but true.

Yeah, but the band should've helped him with his addiction. Kicking him out just made it worse. One of the reasons Izzy left was because he said that Stevens sound was better for the band then Matt Sorums sound.

According to Slash's Biog, Izzy left because he was clean and everyone else was strung out still and he couldn't be around them. Also Izzy to this day doesn't want to be part of a hugely popular band. GnR were too big for him... he just wants to play and go home of his own accord. I agree that kicking Steven out only made him worse though. He says at that point he just did everything in his power to kill himself. Sad. Glad he's sober now and I hope it lasts this time.

i think steven is a great guy, but the that he did everything to kill himself part is just that he feels sorry for himself.. a bit of a whine to be honest.. cause if he really wanted to die he would have been dead by now

Oh I dont disagree with you, but thats an addict for you... there's a lot of self pity, avoiding responsibility and the like involved. I think he's a great guy with a lot of talent who ruined himself. Really hope this time he keeps it up, cos I think he owes it to himself and his fans would be devastated (but not necessarily shocked) if he relapsed again. I think this is his last chance. My point I think originally I think was though, that kicking him out was hypocritical... but typical of a band who at the time were all high as kites. As long as you could play/perform alongside your drug/drink problem that was ok. Steven couldn't, so they ditched him. Sad, but true.

I dont disagree with you mate, I just think its a shame he couldn't help himself and that he got to the point where he couldnt play in the first place and they had to let him go. The effect that had on him wasn't everyone else's responsibility, I just think its dam sad. Lets hope he keeps up the sobriety this time.

@TheMrsnikkisixx tht is true but the only one who wasnt drugged up and was drinking accordingly was axl rose. axl did not nessisarly want 2 fire steven it was really the others that wanted to fire him. its ironic 2 me that axl who was sober actually gave into the others who were completely wasted and high all day and fired steven
