the "titty" on the face is eliminated by machining .125 past the X0, and of course the tool needs to be on the center-line or .01 below.

you need a new insert and a higher feed that stud in the middle is beacause the height of your tool is wrong

Nice, the 9x20 was my other choice when I bought my little Sherline lathe. That spindle motor sounds... authoritative. Thanks for sharing.

How are you controlling the spindle speed? I can hear it ramping up and down, are you using a big servo motor or a VFD? Looks good!
