What happened to "shovel ready" projects? What happened to needing to get the economy going NOW?! You people raised taxes on low income people through the SCHIP law from 200% to 2000%, which is outragous, and that is not a typo! You guys have everything backwards. We need help, and you rasie our taxes!! You are out of your minds, or are just plain lying to the public. I think it is the latter.
Why did you remove E Verify from the Stimulus Bill? Why do you care so little about poor American workers and always favor bringing in more immigrants to reduce our wages? Do you hope to gain new Democrat voters from immigrants while ignoring the people that made this country? Why have you done nothing to combat the massive fraud in the worker visa programs that steal American jobs?
Senator Nelson, I know how hard it must be, having people on both side of the issue, pushing you this way and that, but the fact is, YOU COULD NOT HAVE POSSIBLY READ THIS BILL.!!! I may be going out on a limb here, when I say, IF YOUR LAWYER SIGNED THINGS IN YOUR BEHALF WITHOUT FIRST READING THEM, BECAUSE OF PEER PRESSURE, YOU WOULD SURELY FIRE HIM!
i WISH YOU A LONG, HAPPY RETIREMENT. This bill is like using rattle snakes to rid your living room of mice! Cure is worse that the condition!
Senator Nelson, you don't really think the citizens of Florida want what Congress and Obama is selling, do you? What you are preposing is Socialism. I wouln't try to get reelected in 2013 if I were you.
Too bad Senator Nelson doesn't really respect his constituents in Fl. I emailed him about this stimulus package that is going to wipe the U.S. out financially. I got an email back of how proud he was to support it & Obama. Unemployment keeps on rising and our 401K's keep going down. He's got a pie in the sky attitude about this money WE'RE shelling out.. Nice that they were allowed to "praise" the stimulus but NO ONE was allowed to debate it.
No one can get us out of the mess we got ourselves into.
And, until we, the american people, tell our representatives with our vote that they are not representing our interests, NO ONE, will listen.
They are sitting in their air cond. homes, offices, and get paid with our $ while many people lost and are still losing jobs.
It is not a Dem. or Repub. issue. This is an american issue. Everything is an emergency so we don't have time to read itit. They are acting like car salesmen -sorry.
I feel your pain! I'm still trying to figure out when it became the duty of the American taxpayer to fund abortions in other countries, and why does ACORN need $50 million for Harleys? And exactly what constitutional backing does ACORN have anyway? And how is buying them Harleys going to help people in FT Meyers? Sounds like BS to me!
fund abortions in other countries? lol. i dont see you complaining about the billions sent by the united states to saudi arabia to fund the war againast ourselves? probably because you have oil stock.
No, I don't have any stock. I make less than 25K. All of our government waste pisses me off. You miss the point, I think. This A-hole signed the largest spending bill in history, devaluing our dollar, without having even reading it! There was also vast sums of monies for putting a guard rail around a lake in Oklahoma that hasn't held water since it was built. The call it the Great Boondoggle. Spending tax payer's money in foreign countries helps us HOW? I'd go on but limited characters
Why did'nt anybody else come up with an idea to get us out of this? Bush got us in this mess. And it's not a spending bill- it's an investment there is a huge difference!! If you don't understand how important investing in your health, education, and infrastuucture are-you are dumb as a rock.
Bush got us into this mess? Economy was doing pretty good till the Dems regained the House and Senate. The Republicans needed their clock cleaned for spending like liberals. I am not sure they get it still? But hocking our future for some feel good spending programs? It is like being depressed and going out and buying a new boat. It's fun the first couple weekends till the payment book comes and you realize you spent the money on life jackets, beer and gas. China's our repo man. Wake Up!
Congratulations Bill. Wallstreet obviously thinks you guys are spot on with all this spending. Why not take away a person's right to vote privately and then nationalize ALL failing businesses. Then since you're at it why not call Fidel Castro and see if he's feeling ok enough to come oversee our fledgling new communist state.
Hey how long does a recall petition take anyway?
Either way I think you should start planning for a new career after 2010 Mr. Nelson. Enjoy the rest of your term.
Clearly, there is a great deal of one time spending in this bill,- not quailty longer term jobs-- note the many, many federal buildings which will be re-built-- whether they need re-building or not. What happens after those buildings are done in 4 or 5 years-- conveniently after the next presidential election ? Another bail out ? Long term jobs can only be generated in the private sector- unless you go socialism. Tax cuts is the answer- tax cuts should have been 50 to 65 % of the bill.
You sir are supposed to represent FL. How is spending $800 Billion expanding the federal government helping FL? Your constant "meddling" in the economy is THE problem. There are ups and downs in every economy in the history of history. Ever since the Fed Reserve (which was created to avoid these recessions) was created, they have only got worse. Will you never learn?
I don't like that a person who had a home financed for 10X what mine is worth could collect 4X what my house is worth because their house is now worth less than they financed it for. I responsibly lived within my means, didn't over extend my credit, paid my house off ... and it is now clear title. It is a modest home, not worth a lot. Why should someone with a half million dollar home get bailed out for multiples of what my house is worth??????
I agree with him. The average person doesn't realize they are trying to stay off a depression that was caused by deregulation. Nelson is a good man and works hard for us. The stimulus is not a bullet it's a cushion..there was no choice.
It was not "deregulation" but rather improper regulation that contributed to the bubble that has now collapsed. I don't know how you can call $800 billion a "coushion", it;s more like a laundry list of programs that can't stand on their own merits.Nelson is a bum and should resign.
Hey Sen. Nelson. I'm from Mt. Dora, FL. I'll simply say, I am not for this stimulus package and for all that you are saying, in this video about, letting the Senators go home and "look in the faces" of the people. 11 people have spoken right here to you and 9 of them disagree with you. But I guess you are unwilling to "look " in their faces.
Bill, the president is still campaigning. That is his strength. I can't imagine why else he is on the road all the time. No one can know what is in the bill because it is being voted on before it can be read. What happened to internet posting for five days before any bill is signed? How does a tax credit for college meet the emergency we face right now? This bill needs some daylight!
Listen up, Bill. Taking money out of the pot to put less money in the pot doesn't help anyone. You're moving deck chairs on the Titanic. You had to know the bill was bad when you could have paid 3 million people 40 k a year for four years to sit at home and do nothing for less money.
Thank you, Sen Nelson, for supporting the President's inititative. W/o this stimulus our economy would surely continue to spiral downward. I remain amazed by my Rep friends who are described as "self made men/women", they seem to not grasp the notion that w/o a strong, vibrant, and orderly economy their hard work would yield far less desirable results. The Reagan ideas of 'government is the problem not the answer' have been proven wrong beyond any doubt yet the Reps are still in denial.
Senator Nelson is selling out my children and grandchildren who will still be paying for this after I am gone. As this goes on, it guarantees that all Americans will eventually work for the government--there will be no more private sector. Senator Nelson never read this bill--he doesn't even know what he signed. The idiots in Washington do not know what they are doing. They are "experimenting" with the wealth of this country. Senator Nelson, where are the JOBS that were promised?
This stimulus bill is supposed to re energize the economy. How does the bill helps small business, the backbone of the economy? Food stamps? Will money for sexual transmitted diseases help create jobs in the private sector? Will the $800 a year given back to the citizens who will have to pay for this train wreck of a bill offer any more than token relief? READ THE BILL SENATOR! I'm a life long democrat and ashamed that my party in two months exceeded 8 years of Republican over spending.
Government as 'savior' is evil. This is what you are promoting here. You have not even read this bill that you signed. All you care about is 'free' money from the fed, on the backs of the taxpayers. We are bankrupt already, sir. Our real national debt is 56 trillion dollars. We are owned by China, Saudi. The fed is going to print fiat money and inflation will be 25% in 2-3 years. How does this help the poor people of your state? How does this help businesses that employ us? WE WILL REMEMBER SIR.
Senator this stimulus will begin to prevent a dangerous slide in Florida.
Local groups here in Tampa are reaching upward to search for ways that both receive this relief, but also employ it into long-term resources and tools for our future.
Relief alone would not rebuild the state, careful rehabilitation of our commutes, mass transit option expansion and a more open local hiring process could significantly repair and rebuild our area.
I much appreciate this new embrace of the nat'l leg to online media.
Good on you, Sen Nelson. This read on the economy rings true for me and my extended family in Cen FL.
True, it shouldn't take a genius to 'get it', but it's shocking how pitiful the GOP are in the clutch. Including the junior Sen from Cen Florida, Martinez.
The right will do political cartwheels for the unborn and Terri Schiavo, but once born into the 'veil of tears'...let them eat tax cuts.
I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the
government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense
of taking care of them.

Bill Nelson D-FL, term expires 2013. Ph. 202-224-5274.
Mel Martinez R-FL term expires 2011. PH 202-224-3041.
Let's tell our gov't how in our country -USA they are elected by the american people, and, work for the american people.
Enough is enough!!!!
I'm sickened by all the spending trying to save their buddies' jobs in companies that should be left to sink so we can move on to better things.
It is obvious the president is following his own agenda and only speaks of representing us.
