I grew up with clay!! hes so cool. hehe oh wait... IM CLAY!!! teehee. i didnt ever think to look for this. oh and the whole BS about not saying i love you in wisconsin? nahh thats bs. bahahahaaa
Shining trivia. Because Danny Lloyd was so young and since it was his first acting job, Stanley Kubrick was highly protective of the child. During the shooting of the movie, Lloyd was under the impression that the film he was making was a drama, not a horror movie. He only realized the truth seven years later, when, aged 13, he was shown a heavily edited version of the film. He didn't see the uncut version of the film until he was 17 - eleven years after he'd made it.
I grew up and currently reside in Modoc County where they went through before they got stuck. I don't know if it's related, but now there's this really big yellow sign in Cedarville right before you leave town heading out into the Nevada desert that states quite clearly and ominously that there's no services next 100 miles and winter travel not advised. Here's the photo: tiny.cc(forward slash)2dhmi
@xycadium I remember the incident. It took place not far from the ghost town of Vya out east of the Fandango Pass region. I have been in the Nevada desert in the winter. If you do not manage it right, it is very easy to risk your life. A man just died not far from Jarbridge last year due to the elements.
@Albacorewing Hell, I'd be afraid to drive out that way even in the summer! No services 100 miles and hardly anyone travelling that way. Yikes. I also read somewhere that Jennifer still gets nervous to this day when she hasn't seen any civilization in a while when travelling. I don't blame her.
I grew up with Clay. He is happy and healthy. He truly is an amazing guy. He loves music and plays several instruments (piano, trumpet, and drums to name a few). He is a good friend, an awesome person (who is a little off the cuff), but I wouldn't have it any other way. I have not once seen him without a smile on his face, and I know I'm a better man for knowing him. :)
@walkertexasllama What has he said (if ever) of his parent's horrendous experience? Now that I have a baby of my own I can only imagine how scary the whole experience must have been for them (even more so). I would imagine though that if it wasn't for Clay's existence, his parents may not have had the drive to survive the ordeal.
I just mentioned this movie last night after watching Frozen, so I decided to do a search and here it is - so thanks! Haven't seen this film since it was on TV but I've always remembered it as a great little movie.
Funny. My old-fashioned Home Ec. teacher praised this movie for what a good, strong couple the two main protagonists were and how they worked together to survive. I have yet to tell her that the couple this movie is based on have since divorced and that Neil Patrick Harris is gay. Now, although I've heard the couple split on good terms and I certainly have nothing against NPH being gay, I can only imagine the look on her face if I told her that...
Thank you for posting this. When I was a teen I'd go to my Grandmothers house on a Saturday, she'd bake garlic bread and we'd watch one of my Stallone movies. After introducing her to Rocky & Rambo all the way through to Demolition man we started watching whatever was on TV. This was about '95 I think.
This was one of the first non-Stallone ones we watched and I have been looking for it for years, reminds me of my late Grandmother.
neil patrick harris always reminds me a little of shawn ashmore. the guy that plays the dad was in an episode of the outer limits lol..it's on here. and is this movie based on the "i shouldnt be alive" episode with a similar thing happened? a couple and a baby get lost in snow?
Kelli Williams starred in The Practice, not in Picket Fences. ;) Thank you so much for uploading this! Kelli and NPH on the same screen! So much love! :)
Many thanks for posting this. One of my favorite made for TV movies.
