You forgot that part when Optimus crashes into the back of that train (It might have been the "Kremzeek!" episode.) It might not be wit, but it certainly was Lol-worthy.
The reason I think that TFP isn't as humorous as G1 is because, based on Peter Cullen's voice, the Optimus from TFP is meant to be an older Optimus Prime who's seen more of the destruction that the Decepticons caused compared to G1 who seems to be fairly young (far as I know).
This does remind me that I'm happy that Optimus in the live action movies has some wit and gives off some one-liners.
@monkeyass116 g1 prime was previously orion pax, and was pretty much killed by megatron prior to the start of the great war. g1 optimus was the prototype of the kinds of autobots needed for the great war, as before then they were all "consumer goods". he then led the autobots for five million years of war prior to launching the ark. i reccomend to you the season 2 episode "war dawn". god i'm full of useless trivia.
@Hectotane The problem with that is that lots of characters get put out of focus. They introduced new bots in G1 because there were new toys, and those were the ones they wanted to sell.
I'll admit G1 Optimus makes me laugh, but the overall tone of his series lends itself to that. Having a snarky Optimus in TFP, especially considering War For Cybertron... Doesn't fit well.
Who knew that the wisdom of the primes would be making witty comments.

@monkeyass116 Yes, the overall tone of TFP is much darker than the G1 cartoon. And even the G1 comics feature a relatively less-experienced Prime.

The Optimus from TF Animated is okay. But the Optimus from TF Prime is as funny as a funeral. And it's saddening.
I liked the original series because it had large posses of 'Bots and 'Cons. Not just 5~10 on each side.
