I had lived in Wentworth, MO, which is more than 20 miles from Joplin, and this same storm wether it was the tornado it's self severly weakened or the storm front wiped out the 2 car garage and took the front porch off the house.

Death toll today is 166. People missing body parts that are still alive well I'm afraid to count that high.

My neighbors were hit with a tragedy- an utter cataclysm. Sixty miles away from me, human beings lost family and friends and their livelyhoods in a matter of minutes. I'm certain that if there is a loving God or even a hateful, spiteful God, he would want us to help eachother, no matter what. Empathy itself- the thing that makes us human- is what God would want us to tap in to. Not hatred, the thing that makes us animalaistic, that expends energy that could go towards helping others.
The day after the tornado, I got with a group of friends and drove to Joplin to help them. Joplin was my childhood, and on May 22- the day I graduated highschool- my childhood was wiped off the face of the Earth by a horrifying tornado. People I knew died in the tornado- friends and family alike.
Now, I can't speak for him, but I'm certain what God would want us to do is to come together in times of tragedy and help a fellow man. Treat thy neighbor like thy brother, right?

I volunteered here for S&R. Sadly we didnt find anyone alive. We did find a woman though. When we pulled all the rubble off of her mangled body you couldnt even tell she was human. It was a horrific tornado that I really wish would have never been.

i'm from joplin and i lived right by the hospital and my son and I was trapped for 30-45 mins along with our dog, and our cat went missing for 2 weeks. How dare most of you people to be heartless and just plain stupid. This had nothing to do with God, or the devil or anything like that. This is Tornado alley it happens around us all the time during the spring but it never gets covered by the news because its never hit directly in just a populated area. @mario90122 thats very incorrect, the joplin tornado was the deadliest single tornado since 1947 and 7th all time, and it was after the tuscaloosa. it killed around 150 people, not close is tuscaloosa. now the april 27th outbreak was one of the deadlies outbreaks though

I live in Joplin and have a friend who lived in a home made of huge stones that totally disintegrated in the storm. The tornado shifted the entire hospital 4 inches off it's foundation and tossed Mac trucks around like they were toys. NOTHING would have survived this storm... and it's amazing me that the death toll hasn't been higher than it is. Please be respectful.
In japan buildings and structures are built to sustain earthquakes and tsunamis, I don't understand why in tornado alley, people build wooden trailer houses, that are easily destroyed even by weak tornadoes. There should be a building code in this region, to minimize destruction and loss of life, otherwise every year people will die and lose their homes.

I volunteered here for S&R. Sadly we didnt find anyone alive. We did find a woman though. When we pulled all the rubble off of her mangled body you couldnt even tell she was human. It was a horrific tornado that I really wish would have never been.

i'm from joplin and i lived right by the hospital and my son and I was trapped for 30-45 mins along with our dog, and our cat went missing for 2 weeks. How dare most of you people to be heartless and just plain stupid. This had nothing to do with God, or the devil or anything like that. This is Tornado alley it happens around us all the time during the spring but it never gets covered by the news because its never hit directly in just a populated area. @mario90122 thats very incorrect, the joplin tornado was the deadliest single tornado since 1947 and 7th all time, and it was after the tuscaloosa. it killed around 150 people, not close is tuscaloosa. now the april 27th outbreak was one of the deadlies outbreaks though

The hospital discussed at 1:40 was also moved 4 inches from its foundation. I can't imagine anything that powerful...I'm from the Joplin area and I've spent a lot of time at that hospital with one family member or another, and it's a sturdy structure. I just can't imagine....

my boyfriend our 2 girls and i rode it out in the bathroom. we lived at 2406 empire. the first 3 houses on my side of street r a loss, but still standing. was told if trees would have landed differently in my yard, all 3 homes would have been gone.when i came out of bathroom i couldnt believe my eyes. all on my block and surrounding blks survived thanks to my boyfriend and a couple neighbors fast response to search and rescue. we left house w dog guinea pigs and all fish still alive

Dear Lord , help these people. My son who lives in Springfield Mo is there with his church helping to clean up debris and feeding them. How horrible. My heart is so heavy for them. I can't even fathom what they must be going through. It is heartbreaking to see this. God ,,send your people to help them. I live in Joplin and have a friend who lived in a home made of huge stones that totally disintegrated in the storm. The tornado shifted the entire hospital 4 inches off it's foundation and tossed Mac trucks around like they were toys. NOTHING would have survived this storm... and it's amazing me that the death toll hasn't been higher than it is. Please be respectful.

In japan buildings and structures are built to sustain earthquakes and tsunamis, I don't understand why in tornado alley, people build wooden trailer houses, that are easily destroyed even by weak tornadoes. There should be a building code in this region, to minimize destruction and loss of life, otherwise every year people will die and lose their homes.

YOU might wanna stop judging others when you, yourself OBVIOUSLY dont even have a literacy level equal to that of a 5th grade WHITE child in Joplin, MO. Do you not realize that almost 150 innocent people lost their lives in this disaster?

@MrBlackman8625 : Im SOOOOO sorry that your bitter about the fact that the people affected by hurricane Katrina werent helped in the way that they should have been right off the bat. Im not arguing that fact at all. But it is so far beyond ignorant to be happy about "crackas" dying in this natural disaster just bc your not happy with the way the basic human rights of black people are being met. but hey heres an idea... why dont you try doing something about it instead of pissing and moaning?

I found an address but I'll save it for later, just in case he decides to flapping his fat lips again. He at one time attended Woonsocket Schools. I can't find the year he graduated but it won't take me long to figure out. Mr. Roberson, I'd watch your mouth before some local 'white crackers' come and give you what's coming.

@JMCSD I looked up his address also and I'm sure a lot of other people have also on here. So, whenever we want to take a road trip to Rhode Island and whoop his ass. LET'S GO!!!! I'm so sick of idiots getting on youtube and getting their kicks off other people's tragedy. I've wanted to come down and help in Joplin, but from what they're saying they've got more help than they know what to do with so I've been sending monetary donations.

@dc4mo Well said dc4mo. And you're right, the evening of the tornado they were requesting civilians to not go and help yet because there were already so many people it just couldn't be managed. If that doesn't show how loving and caring people are then I don't know what does. Unfortunately there always has to be those who are the devil's advocates (in this case those who would rather spread hate than love).

@MrBlackman8625 i hope you know what you've just said... i am a young girl who lives in the once lively and friendly city of Joplin Missouri, which now sits around me in ruins. I have lost 2 good friends, and several family members have lost their homes. Many of my friends cannot locate their relatives, and my little brother's catholic elementary school (of which i am alumni) is completely gone. All that remains is the old cross on the church. My family business, is gone... i grew up here...
