  • Can you put the chords in the info? Its slightly annoying to keep rewinding to make out '0 0 10 x 10 0 0' and the other ones lol.

  • this is awesome! thank you!

  • Hey Warren what effect are you using??

  • fuck yeah, I just learned two Radiohead songs in one day! :D

  • Good job my fellow musician! Excellent explanation my friend. I knew how to play this already, but I just wanted to make sure it was correct. And this is definitely a perfect guide to learning this excellent song! Keep up the good work man.

  • during the chorus when he says the best you can is good enough doesnt it change up? isnt it not 10x10 9x10 8x8 7x7?

  • Great work dude, I'm astounded that three people hit dislike. Dicks.

  • If there's one thing I could ask for, it's a Go to Sleep tutorial.

  • hey great tutorial, I was wondering if you could had a quick vid on what jonny's playing, especialy in the outro? It would be awesome

  • Warren : )))) I've been looking for the right chords to this one for ages... Thank you so much, you are like the 8th member of the band for us, guitarists wanna be's, the link between the band's music and our avid fingers... THANK YOU SIR !!

  • @joemunkey30 Same here. I always naturally know the strumming patterns on my first try, its kinda freaky sometimes, lol.

  • Hi Warren, I can't figure what Jonny plays at the beggining of the second verse, literally at the very start, at about 1:30 into the tune. Just wondering if you can help me out. Cheers.

  • Hey any chance you could put the chords on here ! THANK YOU!

  • lol when he says 1 e and a 2 e and a... it makes me flashback to when i took piano lessons

  • this crazy

i rather go write a song than learn this madness

  • well ,just learned the entire song thanks! sweet you got your guitar and some extra cash even! you deserve, great tutorials!

  • thanks, warren.

  • hey warren, sorry about your acoustic. i got a question i've been asking around on - do you know how radiohead gets their haunting sound on guitar, which starts at 3:41 of weird fishes(basement version)

wondering if its a pedal or what? thanks to you or anyone else who knows.

    mike

  • @HEMAPDX I believe that's Ed using a Fernandes Sustainer Kit. You could probably reproduce that particular sound with an E-Bow. Either way, you should put some delay/reverb on there...

  • Nothing can do you justice to how you have helped the world of us Guitar Players, esp with regard to teaching / playing R_adiohead. Cheers.

  • This was great. Thanks a lot!! Do you accept requests? It'd be cool to see an accurate version of Go To Sleep.

  • Thanks for filling my request!!!

    Great tutorial bro!

  • Thanks so much, this is great stuff.

  • Nice tutorial, Warren - as usually clear and helpful. But why don't you play the bass strings in the chorus? I've just checked Radiohead's version in "From the Basement" and Thom definitely doesn't mute them (at least the 6th string), you can clearly see that.

  • Good question. I guess I didn't really care to without Colin holding it down for me hahah.

  • I think there's something extremely shamanic in this song, the rhythm and the bass notes (I mean open 5th and 6th strings). It seems to me it's important to play those notes during the whole song - thus you get that shamanic atmosphere.

  • Yeah, I dunno about shamanic... But maintaining the vibe can be important in a cover. Other times, it is nice to make it your own by changing up significant elements, I think.

  • @warrenmusic about shamanic I think what ArtemiusVerrueckte means is the constant humming bass in the song when you play the 5th and 6th strings (kinda like the constant underlying bass you hear in a bagpipe or didgeridoo).

  • @5oulPower Yeah I don't doubt that's what he was referring to. I just don't get the same vibe, that's all.

  • OPTIMISTIC!!!!! Can't wait to learn how to play it good

  • thanks alot man this really helped your great. nice work on gagging order too thanks so much. you earned yourself a new subscriber haha

  • you're such a great teacher man. love your videos.

  • My guitar is without a cut in, I find it difficult to mute the low E when playing the when the guitars neck is stopping my thumb from reaching up. _______ ( ) x ___

    ( |x|||||||||||||||||||||//// (_______)

U probably got it but it was fun making a guitar here anyway...

So my question is since, I'm going to try doing it some way else is there a preferred way of doing it? Now I'm trying to mute it with my long finger, but is there a better way?

  • I'm not sure what part you're referring to, but you don't need a cutaway on either side of the guitar to play up on the 10th fret. You can try to avoid strumming the 6th string but it's easier and better, techinque-wise, to mute.

  • its a double d drop Warren

  • im not sure whether it is or isnt in double drop d, but i think it sounds like crap in double drop d

  • Hmm, I highly doubt this... an open E is clearly heard in every one of the first six chord shapes during the intro/outro section. Where did you hear this?

  • @warrenmusic i saw it on a radiohead forum, you can hear it in the chorus and intro section

  • Yeah, I disagree. Chorus is only two strings "Try the best you can" (2B and 4D) and the main riff, which only uses three strings (3G, 5A, and 6D). The intro clearly uses a 1E. Whoever said that probably figured out another way of playing the song, different from Radiohead.

  • nice tele warren :D

  • Hey Warren which Atoms For Peace show are you going to? I'm seeing their SB show and I saw their first show at the Orpheum and they were everything you're hoping they'll be and more...Thanks for another fantastic tutorial buddy!

  • I'm going to Wed the 14th.

  • @warren

i scored tix to both shows in Chicago. gonna be epic. ps warren you're the man, big fan of your vids. keep it up bro.

  • I'm so jealous you're seeing Atoms for Peace, Sir Warren!

Ima be learning this tomorrow, fo sho!

  • Looks like I need an electric guitar... I was already starting to see all my options, thanks for the lesson. You're the man

  • In the section of the song where you are just playing muted strings, Jonny plays a gliss over a certain chord in the live versions. care to help me figure out what that chord is?

    p.s. you're awesome

  • Jonny only plays three of the four notes that the keyboard plays (on the album version). The keyboard plays a descending D, C, Bb, and A, where Jonny leaves out the Bb. To do so, it seems he downtunes his 1st string to D.

  • wow, very nice. i thought (im not quite sure why) you didnt like kid a that much?

  • Who said that?

  • i have no idea, i guess im crazy

  • Weird, I just wrote a song that reminds me of Optimistic, and I just came Home and I was listening to this one on my mp3 player... I like how life is...

  • thanks again warren. i wanna take you behind the school yard and get you pregnant. (not really)

  • 5* thanks Warren!! Hey can you help me tab some stuff ? like Follow me Around and Twisted Words ? I would be willing to pay ya a reasonable fee for your professional services. Thanks!

  • nice funk thing at the end

  • You legend warren. been waiting for tutorial on optimistic. perfect way to start my morning. all the way in the uk

  • THANK YOU WARREN!!! =D

  • Warren! Awesome! Can you add the little outro thing in the info section? I'd like to know how to play that too :) Much love.

  • yeee

  • youre the man warren
