  • Came here looking for something vaguely similar to Drive Like Jehu... bitterly bitterly disappointed.

  • @Moppy1988 check out pitchfork.

  • @RatingsFlood I already have, they're a bit eh. Hot Snakes aren't bad though.

  • JOHN REESE, Great Guy, Met him Before.

  • Taylor Ramsaur made me listen to this, and I kind of like it.

  • cm punk baby!!

  • @whamm234 why cm punk??

  • @bmofano one of his favorite bands he says.

  • @drummerknot131 nice fair enough!!! i like cm..

  • ...so this is Drive Like Jehu if they weren't so damn depressing.

  • why have i only just heard this song? D:

  • Someone post their performance on Yo Gabba Gabba.....

  • My favourite song

  • saw these guys with Rancid at the Hollywood Palladium back in the day. good show. cheers .

  • My older brother used to record MTV videos back in the day and this is one we used to watch all the time. Soundgarden had "Burden in my Hand" Metallica had "Until it Sleeps" and Rage Against the Machine had "Bulls on Parade". Great summer. Beck had "Where It's At" and that song from Nada Surf "Popular" were...good as well, to me at least.

  • Me too. Late 90s, sitting their with a VCR recorder waiting for my favourite songs. With my older bro, too.

  • this song is still awesome.

  • BUNNYYYYY!!!!

  • Punk and Puppys!!! What more could you ask for?

  • Ibanez Black Eagle!

  • this is a great song, the vocals in the verses sound way too quiet though.

  • @RichardG3RE fuck loud vocals. guitars!

  • O'bierne is just a washed up drunk who saw his dreams of being a rock n roll star fly right pass him lol

  • still emotional.

  • Now we're cooking

  • Love this song xD

  • one of the most overlooked albums ever. better than most bands can dream up.

  • John Reis IS the coolest. Swami ftw

  • This may be the perfect rock and roll song! There is more energy in this song than most bands entire albums...

  • Sorely missed!

  • I dont know why O'beirne get mad when i remind him about this song, its a pretty cool song PAUL, you made it thats awsome, i wish i could have that oppertunity :/

  • @hitmanpkerjr1 o'beirne hates life

  • themelodees new band from the south of uk

    the website is a .com

    check them out

  • Ah RUBICON... HOW COULD AMC cancel such a great show? RIP

  • Ahh.... the young ATOM

  • does anyone else think that my chemical romance stole the melody from this for their song 'na na na na na na...' sounds pretty similar

  • @toometaltomicrowave did you hear DIE TOTEN HOSEN-STORM?? thats real copy :D

  • ATOMMMMMMMMMM! <3 :D

  • Ah man! This takes me back sixteen years to when I was 18 and @ Uni - this song's mental - even the hardcore techno/rap fans went crazy whenever this song came on - the club would resound to 1000's of voices shouting...

"ON A ROPE, ON A ROPE, I BEEN HANGING ON A ROPE!!"

It was the ONLY song that got banned apart from "Smells like Teen Spirit" as the crowd went TOO MENTAL!

    BRING IT BACK P-ROCK!

  • At times the vocals remind of me of the friends episode where joey does a movie with the spitter

  • Best Halloween show ever! RFTC is one of the best damn bands I have ever seen live. Love them.

  • Saw these guys many times as I used to work at St Andrews Hall in Detroit. I loved it when they played pure straight up American P Rock! Via West Coast. A sea of beer bottles would be on the floor after everyone cleared out!

  • weak chrous, shame. so many songs get ruined by their weak chorus....

  • @hmabrantes Are you fucking kidding me??! Weak chorus?? It's fucking PERFECT, the whole song is. The loud maniacal chanting of "Hanging on a rope" is the hook, and the counterpart to the more melodic sounding verses, and it works, it's GENIUS! It's a "shame" you don't know what the fuck you're talking about.

  • weak chorus...shame. so many songs get ruined by it's "poppish" chrous...

  • Fuck I miss the 90's. :-(

  • bassist's brother was my high school english teacher!!!

    REICHERT

  • They broke up cause there wasn't enough money plus there band wasn't going anywhere that all got there life straight

  • héhe_añýÒñé_waÑna_chÅt_wîth_mÉ_i_fêËl_sÒ_l0ÑElÿ_t0däY♬

  • Bands will never die in my eyes.

  • @ElliotVsTheWorld And your right, cause even if they break up their fan base will keep their music for others to making their sound more well known "persuading"(forcing) the band to reform or make more music for our enjoyment.

  • Why couldn't music stay like this? So many bands at this time were at their prime. Blink, green day, RFTC. Music has died.

  • Deffo my favourite song ever.

Anyone else notice the original video playing in the background of the live performance on R.I.P. ?

  • Used to fucking love this song when I was a kid, was on a compilation I had.

  • Best. Riff. Ever.

  • Cat'sCradle circa '97? Great show!

  • P-ROCK!!!!!! BRING IT BACK!!!!

  • r.i.p p rock... how i miss you

  • YEAH

  • hanging on a what? I didn't quite get that last bit...

  • @SCross35 ON A ROPE YEEAAHH

  • @SCross35 the line is "hanging on a rope"

  • Had this on repeat doing my English Coursework, 89 plays. Still not bored with it..

  • Damnit, why doesn't p-rock the channel still exist? that shit was awesome...

  • Man, do I miss this band...

  • Definitely a very catchy song.

  • @iread Adam Willard (the drummer) went to drum for The Offspring around 2003 and left around 2007 to focus on Angels and Airwaves then around the April/May 2009 timeframe he joined Social Distortion (while still drumming for Angels and Airwaves) and in March of this year he left Social Distortion so that he could focus on Angels and Airwaves...I wish I had more info on the other members but this is the only one that I've followed...HE'S A BEAST ON THOSE DRUMS!!!!

  • @iread there were also some side projects that I wasn't aware of as well...where he drummed for Alkaline Trio and was a drum technician for Weezer....nothin major....I just looked this one up in Wiki and am just making sure I give you the correct information

  • @churchic oh the things i didnt know. ya lately im getting into these bands by word of mouth but by the time im into them i find out theyre broken up and are now in other bands im kind of into also...thanks so much

  • @iread I dont know if you've heard of Angels and Airwaves but you can def tell that Adam Willard is an amazing drummer on their 3 albums (We don't need to Whisper, I-Empire, Love) the albums are absolutely amazing...every song is great! I'm glad I could help!

  • @iread there were also some side projects that I wasn't aware of as well...where he drummed for Alkaline Trio and was a drum technician for Weezer....nothin major....I just looked this one up in Wiki and am just making sure I give you the correct information

  • I have lived the rocknroll lifestyle and I am ready to settle down.

  • man I love this song! The set looks uncannily like the set used in the Devo - Whip It video.. lol,

  • i grew up with this ! awesome love it :-)

  • talk about forgotten underrated 90s classic

  • Is this the guy from Gas Huffer on vocals.

    Love this song!

  • Great song .This kind of music BEFORE autotunes is real music. You cant find music this good any more. Good luck to all... blah blah blah...

  • terrible

  • blinding song!!!! the clash meets QOTSA!!!

  • hes in more than 1 band as angels and airwaves is more a side project for its members were they can release there fellings and stuff ava r cool but they play in other bands also to balance out there music its like they can play dont give a fuck music then they can all get toghether and work on a new ava album again when they feel they need to express there feelings its a cool idea. rreally like angels and airwaves there somethin special :)

  • Awesome!!!

  • This a GEM of a song.

  • Those were the days...

  • I love the fact that he's teaching. I played them a lot on the Dallas community radio station KNON 89.3 FM on a show called On the Flipside and saw them perform in like 1999 at the stupid Deep Ellum Live. The club owner didn't renew some dance ordinance or license and cops were there b/c you couldn't dance. It was like Footloose or something. Totally bizarre. And yes people moved around and danced, especially in this song and Middle. RFTC is missed!!!

  • Got into them in my early teens in the 90's and still loving them to this day

  • thats my 9th grade teacher on the saxophone

  • weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!

  • great band...

  • one of the best riffs in rock history and also one of the catchiest choruss, rip rocket from the crypt

  • Sounds like modern rock radio. One of the best riffs in rock history-heh heh. Ok.

  • john reies!

  • that drummer drums for social d now...he's like the reason why i started drumming

  • @SkaKidd925

he drums for Angels and Airwaves

  • he used to but now he drums for social d...look it up

  • @SkaKidd925

he's still in AvA, i dont think that he left

  • does anybody know the tabs to this song

  • Ahhh, ND is still so attractive.

  • ''On A Rope,On A Rope,Got Me Hangin' On A Rope...''

Shit, but ever happened to these guys?!!!

    They were fuckin' excellent!

  • They broke up on haloween a few years back man. Check out John's bands since then, The Sultans and The Night Marchers. RFTC the greatest band ever. R.I.P.

  • The Night Marchers fucking kick ass, but every show they play is either 21+ or I cant make it. so bumbed. I didn't get into rocket for a long time, even though my dad went to high school with John and played rocket CDs all the time, just a song Here & There. and just in the past few months, I've totally smitten with this band. even though i don't remember seeing them years ago, Im super glad i can say i did. Long Live RFTC!!!

  • was your dad into drive like jehu? you're so lucky to be connected with rock n roll history (even though it's a pretty loose connection!)

  • yeah, he liked them, Pitchfork too. he was in a Ska band band in the late 80s called The Donkey Show (not that shitty alternitave band from dallas with the same name) and they basically made it possible for 3rd wave ska bands like No Doubt, Buck-o-nine, and the Toasters to exist. except with my dads band they were all young and their egos and poor judgements destroyed them (Kinda like Op Ivy) after that my dads bands were never as popular as Donkey show. RFTC just was able to hold it together

  • fuckinell! how kick ass is this song?? the chorus is great!

  • on a rope on a rope!
