  • Testing a loop outside of a rig, from my experience, has a higher risk then leaving it in.

If you've got a complex loop, you don't want to be messing around with it when it's leak tested putting it in the system. It's extremely easy to back out a barb by rotating the pipes during this stage, and this will cause more then a minor leak.

Leak test IN the case, but do so with a hotwired PSU and plenty of sheets of kitchen roll over hardware. This is the best method.

  • im about to purchase a self contained unit do you have anytips for that and how much of a risk is there to leak ?

  • @crispy82185 Same as custom IMHO. It is the same thing assembled for you by somebody else.

  • @DazMode ah ok thank you and thanks for the speedy reply!

  • @crispy82185 get a good one... dont get a h50 or low range one... i run the h80 corsair and it outperforms most if not all air coolers on the market... and as for leaks i also owned a h60 and i never had a problem... it is almost impossible for them to leak... youd have to abuse the heck outta the thing to get a leak

  • @HandicappedMind im looking at getting the h100 whats ur view on that

  • @DazMode what radiator do you recommend for a 955 be plus a 6950 in a single loop....2x120mm or just one 360mm?

  • Haha you use the same distilled water as i do

  • How do you drain the distilled water out of the whole system?

  • Daz... what setup do you exactly have and how much did it cost/?

  • do you carry the funnel that connect to the fill port.

  • your russian?привет из россии...

  • Im new to this, does every water cooling system need to be taken out and refill after a certain time? If so, how often? Looks pretty scary

  • @Sinkatze About 9 months or so. Like oil change for car. It easy after first timre..

  • @DazMode where do you buy the external power supply?

  • @DazMode Is 9 months being prudent or does it really need a renewal after 9 months? I often enough read 1,5-2 years, or people claiming you need to do it every 3 months to keep the dye from sticking(the reason for me to stay away from dyes).

  • @JustineBieberxoxo I'd say ones a year for sure. Also if you want to optimize performance you may want drain and clean cpu block after few weeks from very first assembly because if there is any junk were in your loop it will be sitting right inside of your block.

  • @DazMode Isn't this why we use silver products to prevent this nasty build up?

  • @Inthepastxx I don't use silver, additives woks betetr for me.

  • Hi how can you jump start your power supply

  • @taz001ish take a paper clip and touch it to the green wire and then take the other end of the paper clip and touch it any of the black wires (you can use a little piece of wire instead of a paper clip)

  • Ozer zen zat!

  • hey, nice vid, what is the name of your liquid cooling system called?

  • I'm sure its been asked but where can you buy one of those little external power supplies?

  • @braudrist We have some in store. You also can jump start existing power supply.

  • water with addictive? lol

  • those 740ns getting old now, mine are starting to die, hehe sucks as 4:3 lcds are great

  • I just have to ask, are you Russian? or maybe German>?

  • I have an old 350W power supply lying around... and I was wondering if that can be used instead of a 18W external power supply?

  • @ThePivotXtreme Does not really matter any power source will do.

  • @DazMode Thanks man, great videos!

  • (7:06) Trapped water? Yes the point is to trap the water in the lines right? I would hate for the water to get out.

  • thats not totally tidy but hey im going ape over that sort of thing, you could of made your loop far more cleaner, ddc 18w pro pump and a cilinder res (separate)and that rad is MASSIVE :D but thats just me, im ocd'ing about that sort of thing,

  • Nice vid! Just wondering, when you first turn on the pump it seems very noisy - is this due to the initial trapped air being pushed through the pump? The sound becomes much less harsh as more water is added.

  • Sweet Water Cooling ^^

  • @DazMode For bleeding the system, what do you recommend more: the jump start cable or the external molex power supply?

  • @habowh43 It is really the same thing. I use external power supply - less dangling cables around.

  • @DazMode Alright, I guess ill go with the cheaper option ;P I can't wait until I upgrade my PC in march. I was really thinking about upgrading to comething like a EK 2x120mm rad kit in a 650D or 600T with your new DarkSide sleeving for the looks. :D

  • @habowh43 you can just use a second or older psu and bridge it , green to any black wire, that so you can use that psu to power the motor, ez and low cost

  • nice, leak is the end of that computer with that water D:

  • lol @ life brand distilled water? greetings from canada

  • your voice soothes me..

  • What happens if you dont change it for 1-2 years? Will everything not work?

  • @itisfunnyer It is like your car. What happens if you never change oil? Few things happen over time: your coolant becomes conductive from dissolved metals, you may accumulate some gunk that needs to be flushed out, your blocks may (or may not) get blocked with debris.

  • where did u get all of the supplies from?

  • I got a PC from iBuypower and the watercooling fucking leaked and ruined everything.

  • are you aware you have spinning hard drives in your case? granted they are not spinning, shock is still no good.

  • @HolyHavoc444 i just set up my rig and never set it up outside my comp because i didnt feel like wasting any tubing and i was quite confident.

  • why dont you put the resovoir on top so the bubbles go straight to the resovoir

  • ok, i cant understand what your saying. but good tutorial.

  • PRETTY MUCH ALL ARE GOOD VIDEOS...BUT AREN'T YOU SUPPOSE TO TEST OUTSIDE THE COMPUTER FIRST BEFORE U ACTUALLY PUT IT IN YOUR COMPUTER..?

  • @HolyHavoc444 That depends on your level of self-confidence and willingness to lose some time on drying parts in case of a leak. I personally never test anything outside computer, because it waste of my time.

If you feel more comfortable to test it outside your rig first, there is nothing wrong with adding this extra step.

  • @DazMode thankz appreciate your info

  • @HolyHavoc444

My lines go through the body of my case in about six places so outside the case testing would be impossible for me,

    Moto

  • @HolyHavoc444 Doesn't matter if you use non-conductive water and don't have any power going to any of your components.

  • You ghave to do it different tho, odzer tzen dzat, its al gghood.

    Gotta Love Russian's!

  • Great Vid !

  • I'm looking to build a water cooling system and was just wonder what type of reservoir you used and what pump, etc? How much did it cost?

  • just seeing water near a computer makes me uneasy, pouring it RIGHT NEXT TO EXPOSED COMPONENTS makes me shit bricks XD I don't think water cooling is for me.

  • @onlyadot if use non conductive fluid such as the ones found in feser coolant products then u wont have to worry about messing up any of ur parts if coolant does get on ur stuff. it is a bit more expensive but the price is well worth the extra assurance you have when it comes to protecting your very expensive parts.

  • @onlyadot

It is actually pretty save. Just read alot about the whole system works, and test the loop outside the case.

Reading will save your live one day ;) Believe me, at first i was scared of WC my $3000 rig too.

But if u take it one step at a time and pay attention, there should be no problem.

  • Yeah, or you could just take out all the parts and you won't risk any expensive damages.

  • thx for the help

  • Hey daz, great vid man. Just a quick question though. What is in between the reservoir and pump top? What did you use to connect both of those? adapters? Again great vid man.

  • @hahay16 dual G1/4 male fitting adapter. I have it explained in earlier video log.

  • @DazMode - oh ok, I didn't notice it. Thanks for the quick reply

  • what if im using a dual bay res?

  • towels should have come first. May I suggest a ShamWow i joke

  • Hey Daz ,is it ok to use car coolant in the system?

  • @Seraphim401 if water leaks it will most likely cause less damage then if coolant leaked out. Just a thought. How fast to you want to over clock your system?

  • nice to se that you use clear water

  • Hey daz , should i have any cables ( 8 pin pcie / cpu power cable / 24 pin etc. ) plugged into the waterboard while doing the leak test ? I'm planning to use an old computer i have to power up pump with a 4 pin while i do leak testing. As a matter of fact can i just do the leak test with the psu in place, but just plug in a single molex to power up the pump, so i will only have hardwares in place with no cables or whatsoever, and then plug cables and everything in once leak test is done.

  • @736928 You can plug all cables to the mobo, but then unplug power supply from the wall power. :)

  • @736928 just stick a paperclip between the green wire and the black wire on the 24 pin cable

  • No I'm not talking about the fillport.

I want to fill water easily by screwing the funnel like that. What kind connection between the funnel and the fillport r u using?

  • @yapchagi 1/2"OD barb + 1/2"ID tube + funnel

  • @DazMode ahh I see. I think I'll buy something like that. Thanks. Nice video though.

  • wow, where can I get that part? You just screw the funnel in. I want that.

  • @yapchagi It is called "fill port"

  • for those wondering what is the external power suply he use, google: usb drivedock v4

  • @SonyGari You need distilled water.

  • can u drop ice in the reservoir?

  • @madzane94 Tou also can put computer in a freezer.

  • what does the distilled water do,.. cuz it ain't conductive? so does that mean if it leaks no BOOM?

  • @madzane94 Correct. Short term exposure is no harm with distilled water - which very low conductive.

  • HOW and i Mean HOW the hell can you be soooo sure it wont leak lol after the leak test? i cant do this at all i ahve an option to buy one today and terrified to

  • @Liquadia This is like asking how do I know that I do not crash car after I pass license test....

  • @DazMode suppose but i have tooo much to lose lol so i bought a sealed system Eco CoolIT

  • @Liquadia And how can you be so sure it won't leak? :) Just because somebody else assembled it, not you?

  • @DazMode happy times to you! I never done a Water cooling system before its why i asked how can u be sure it wont leak and not because im some type of PROFESSIONAL at doing this.. You said that as if i was undermining his abilities to watercool.

  • @DazMode

hello sir where can i buy external power supply and what brand? the one you holding? do you have links for that,?thanks!

  • @adspie Just get PSU jumper like we have in store. Cost just a few bucks.

  • @DazMode

may i know your store sir?pls. give me links. do you shipped international?

  • @DazMode

i tried to search the exact PSU jumper in google but no result, what is the exact name of PSU jumper the one you holding on the video?

  • @DazMode

Can you just short circut a regular PSU? I have an extra internal power supply unit, so can I use that to power the pump somehow? Thanks

  • @Schnikerdoodle Yes you can jump PSU as well.

  • @DazMode

Thanks for replying. Do you know how? I have a veague memory, something about taking a paper clip and connecting two wires to complete the circut. If you could tell me, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Also, do you think compression fittings are reliable? Thanks :)

  • @DazMode

I figured out how, you take the PSU and connect the green to black wires on the 24pin connector. When you turn the PSU switch on, it should give power to the fans and, in your case, the pump.

  • @adspie

go to dazmode-DOT-COM/store and make search for PSU JUMPER

  • Thank you for the vid.

What do you use to power the pump on/off without turning on the computer?

    cheers Bob

  • Im doing a watercooling set up for the first time tomorow, and I was just wondering how long you need to leave the pump running on it's own untill your satisfied that there is no air or leaks?

  • @spykedood Observe right away for immediate major problems, then leave overnight.

  • Thanks very much mate, I'm trying it justnow, I'm just washing out my radiator with hot water then de-ionized water and then vinegar, i heard this is the right thing to do, im sceptical of the de-ionized water but nvm. Thanks very much!

  • @spykedood well if you installed the watercooling into the pc already and are waiting for leaks then your a fucking moron. You leak test out side the pc.

  • @shiteInShoes actually no, it all went fine so lols at you =)

  • Can I use tap or bottled water for watercooling

  • No, you can not.

  • @coakisit Use distilled water its safer than normal cooling liquid! Tests on youtube showed a guy pouring 1 cup of water on his pc on and on the voltage regulators and still worked! quarter of a cup of normal coolant and it turned off straight away

  • Is that an Antec case?

  • aww so we need clothes when we do this. will purified water work.

  • hahahaha!!! ur gold man! Good thing u rememberd a few steps when u did! :P Love the accent!

  • Hello sir, I have another question. How much feser one does it take to fill up a dual 120mm rad?

  • Only rad? IDK, 200ml?

  • radiator fluid

  • these are very good and helpful videos!! keep it up!!!

  • can i just jump start the PSU so that it turns on and can start powering the water pump?

  • Yes, of cause.

  • Thanks. for the help

  • just a tip but put a drop of dye in the water it dont effect the conductivity much but its alot easier to notice a leak if there is 1 you will notice the colour allot faster than a wet patch thefor stopping the leak and keeping your system safe but the best way is to just test the loop outside the case if possiable

  • Isn't it wiser to test WITHOUT the components inside the case?

  • Distilled water VERY low conductive, nothing will happened if some spill take place. If you use pre-mix UV solution, then you may get unwanted UV contamination..

  • where can you buy an external power supply :O

  • You can "borrow" power from other PC or get external hard drive (old IDE type, bot SATA!), take it apart and use it as external power supply.

  • use a non conductive solution so in the event of a leak it will not damage components.. you braver than me using water

  • Distilled water is non-conductive.

  • non-conductive fluids like fluidxp, feser, and primochil are basically distilled water based with some ethyl glycol, dye, etc. Basically your just paying for someone to mix your own fluids.

  • its a type of oil no water what so ever is used:)

  • go to PTpetra's channel and check out his conductivity test.

  • Looks like it truned out OK! 5/5

  • This is sticky if I may say in that way.

    A H2O bible.

A holy word for H2O begginers.

Thanks for sharing your knowledge Daz.

Hope to see more of youre videos soon.

I posted my first vide in response but want yoo to know this is a result of your work and what I have learned form you.

    Thanks.

    You are big man.

  • Looks like fun!

  • would u not mind sending me that computer

    my laptop broke

    thanks

  • You have to talk to my wife, she is first in line. :)

  • ok how?

  • Tsk, tsk, tsk....
