what i like about these games in retrospects is ,that its like a bad 3DO game where you literally have to pay every time you die lol
anyway , i remember these games in the arcades, and they were spectacular ,we hardly even noticed how shit the gameplay was due to being in awe of the technology.
Er, what I mean is, the game would assume the correct action if you pressed both action buttons at the same time. Obviously this didn't help much with the car chase or when cliff is scaling the castle roof, because that was a lot of moves, but still it made the game easier to finish.
I used to be able to finish it. But I used a known cheat in the long last fight scene ... If you pressed legs and arms at the same time the game would "assume" the correct move, and since the scene was all actions and no moves, you could just keep double pressing through the scene and not have to learn it.
This game frustraited the hell out of me. I never got past the first part. The vo said "jump" so I hit the "jump" button, it said "sorry, you should have used your feet" so I pressed the "feet" button, and it still wouldn't work.
and about 25 years for anime to be recognized and truely be the best damn thing that ever aired on our TV sets. Shit, that arcade game was truly a sign of things to come.
I remember seeing this game on Starcade, an old arcade game show. They did special episodes on this, Dragon's Lair, and I think Space Ace where an expert was brought in to play the game from beginning to end contestants also played those games but had to score as high as they could in a certain amount of time. It was years later that I found out about Castle of Cagliostro. They turned an established anime into a game?! CHEAP!
They made a Family Guy parody of Space Ace & Dragon's Lair, but I want to see a Family Guy spoof of Cliff Hanger. Spoof of voiceover like "..one mistake & you're sober.." "..whether Peter fights to give beers to the drunk is in your hands. Good luck..."
Well I at first thought the creator or people that created the anime/ movies was going bring Lupin the 3rd early in USA under the name "Cliff Hanger".
Strangely, they renamed Jigen to Jeff(not said ingame, but I heard from somewhere), and ingame, Goemon is named Samurai... creative name much? Meh, I still had fun playing this game. lol
Same here dude. However I'm sure I spent WAY more than you. And the furthest I got was when they were going in through the sewers. When they took the game out (lack of interest) I was so mad and I even asked my dad if he could buy the game. Needless to say, I didn't get it. The best game ever. I wish a home version would come out.
The legalities would probably prevent it from ever seeing the light of day in the home outside of the emulated version I've only read about (seems a tad complicated and uses way too much power to get done on a PC).
I solved it. Unfortunately, they never showed the ending where Cliff(Lupin) and the Princess were out of the Castle. I only saw the evil Count got crushed in the clock hands. whatta jip.
yes I played this game forever in the arcades, it was a laser disk game similiar to Dragons lair/Space ace. It was actually incredibly fun to play, fighting ninjas, tons of fun. Just as much fun as playing Space Ace.
no no no...this was an arcade game back in the early 80's using laserdiscs. Thanks for the post...great memories! I spent a lot of quarters on this one!

True. Lupid III debuted around 1970 in Japan and took over 30 years to bring it to the states for Cartoon Network's Adult Swim.

That voice sounds like that of the late game show personality, Jack Clark (Wheel of Fortune, Cross Wits, Dealer's Choice, etc.). Was it?
