I got mygs at a garage sale 2 years ago for $5 and i have not done anything because i do not know how to put a better os on it, it has one game right now that is pretty boring. it has a 256k ram expansion and 256k on the board, and has rom version 01. do i have what it takes to run this system or could i possibly get one of the color oses on it? i have looked everywhere for a download for this os, and all i find are versions where you need a special image program called 2image to open it.
hey, do you know where i can download this os so i can download it, transfrer it to my old macintosh where i can format an apple disk and put the files on it that i need to copy this system to my gs.
MouseDesk is actually an *8-bit* program using Double-Hi-Res graphics, it runs just fine on a 128K Apple IIe or IIc--try it! A native 16-bit OS wasn't ready in time for the GS's release, so Apple bundled MouseDesk with early machines (and referred to it as System 1.0 and 2.x).
GS/OS is the native 16-bit OS for the IIGS. System 6.0.1 (the final release) is very Mac-like, and of course in color. :) It could even multitask with software like Switch-It, The Manager or GNO/ME.

Strip off the first 64 bytes and you have a raw disk image.
512K v1 can run any version of ProDOS-16 or GS/OS.

I'm sure I played with this back in 1996, it reminds me of the current Mac operating system desktop, that's awesome.

Prior to ProDOS-16 v1.3, it was included (rebadged "Apple II Desktop"), because the Finder wasn't ready.
