This is actually an older render than what the final animation turned out to be. I didn't have time to complete it before OS4.1 came out so it wasn't included in the ISO.
The original video from Pixar was made on a Mac btw......copying what Steve Jobs does just goes to show how little vision is left in the Amiga community. *rolls eyes*
@coldsteel122 Wrong, the original animation, "Luxo Jr.", was created in 1986 on SGI workstations. Desktop computers couldn't do anything like this for years to come. Jobs didn't even buy Pixar until 1986, and only visited company headquarters a handful of times over the following 8 years. They didn't even start using Mac workstations for production work until 2004. Just goes to show the ignorant arrogance of the Apple community. *rolls yes*
@FrankRizzo419 Luxo Jr isn't an Amiga Trademark none the less. I used to have an Amiga 500 and 1200 and it was better than the shit Microsoft had at the time. Today I'm a Windows guy. I laughed when you said I was part of the Apple community. I have noticed the Amiga community is rather elitist...which is amazing considering I've never seen one quad-core Amiga. I wish the Amiga stayed in business...computers would have been cooler than they are today.
To bad Amiga international had no business sense...to bad Gateway didn't care...to bad Amiga .inc also had no business sense.
The Amiga had a lot to offer and would still be better than anything else.if it was maintained. The people who cling to the OS are fucking elitists, and also partly responsible for the failure of the Platform. I'll take a PC or a Mac any day over the Amiga now....it's dated tech that isn't worth the cost.
Good news for Amiga fans! A new REAL Commodore Amiga is in the works and will be available soon. Why settle for a wanna-be-Amiga by some fly by night operation when you can have the real thing from Commodore? For more info just visit commodoreusa d o t net!
After Amiga died computing became so dull. I have A1200 and use it but I miss times when Amiga was popular. Everything about computing was so interesting then. I'm heavily bored of this crappy Peezee clone & Microshit monopoly. :(
@Scumkill2 The amiga died ? when ? the computers are still working and people are using it in demoparties or if you look at aminet there are still programs released everyday. There are still hardware extension developped for it. You have just choose to use another plateform but the amiga has never blown or something like this.
actually it didn't. It was rendered on Industrial Light and Magic's supercomputers of the time.
The toy tin man demo was rendered on an amiga - but this was after it was done once again on ILM hardware. It was done by Amiga officianado's to prove the Amiga could closely do what supercomputers could do - if you left them rendering for several days with an 040 processor and plenty of RAM and HD space.
Anyway, all of ILM's machines back then were SGI boxes and still are.
@vapourmile - i know, but someone has to correct these amiga-addicts.. i have several Amigas myself and all the old magazines articles referring to ILM and Silicon Graphics hardware rendering the animations at that time.. if people look, they may be able to see what hardware is and was used on Pixar's website.. there's an archive somewhere on the net.. but there we go - some people just get too protective of their Amiga and think it was the first to do everything...

Nice work! I had an Atari ST at that time. It was a lot of fun. I wish I had known more about the Amiga.

Yep.
Today's computers are about as exciting as driving a Dodge Neon.

could have been better - if they made the lamp more like the pixar lamp instead - and then used better sounds..

You know...
the pixar lamp originated on the Amiga 1985 machines.

@robbiew73 Careful, an intelligent, knowing comment, let loose amongst Amiga fanboys is virtual suicide.

Computers now are not that creative as they used to be. Computing at that time was 100 times better than now.
