  • The depth of feeling and caged intensity coupled with tenderness in this song is incredible. In fact, the entire album is like this. Typical Hip -- the more you listen to it, the better it gets. The Hip are not a style over substance, all sizzle with no steak band.

  • @SFDoucette "caged intensity coupled with tenderness" could not of said it better.

  • If there is a better band Someone let me know

  • Love the handkerchief fluff at 5:55

  • What if this song does nothing!

  • @kirzto HELL YEAH!!!

  • I also think that this is one of their greatest moments. It's everything they've always been: Beautiful, heartbreaking, true, complex, entertaining and more. 9 minutes and change of glory!

  • To many fans crying about how the Hip got old and changed ,but so did their fans at the same time.

  • America doesn't get it. The Hip are, and will always be the best band on the the planet. Cant wait for the next time to see them. They are Canada's #1 band. Sorry Geddy Lee

  • Who is better than these guys?NOBODY. And the fact that they ARE Canadian makes them the BEST in my view. Sorry NiagaraWarrior, can't use Hip and "second" in the same sentence.

  • i CANNOT wait until the HIP tour Canada again... my favorite Canadian band, and second favorite band of all time. This song, and Speed River are truly great highway songs.

  • New Orleans World to me has a double meaning. The reference to a Casino, as well as the creative breeding ground of New Orleans is Sinking (many songs were first heard inside the NOIS jam). Thinking just in passing what if this song does nothing could be in reference to the new song that came out of NOIS....the New New Orleans World....the Gimmie Gimme line is also similar to another on-line version of NOIS where that line is mentioned during the jam.

  • One day gordie's sweaty sweat rags are going to highly saught out and valued.

If nothing else, this has to be the mark of a true artist.

  • I love this song so much. I can't listen to it enough.

  • How is it gonna end... someone please... I need reassurance

  • WOW...

  • @kream0247 - there is no such thing as an ubber lame song, only ubber lame people.

    Long live art,

long live the honesty and authenticity of tth!

  • This is Gordie at his best. I love it. The best song on this album

  • Love this song! And don't worry about "What if this song does nothing?". Believe me this song definitely did something for me and I'm sure for many other people out there. Thank you very much! LONG LIVE THE HIP!

  • HIP HIP HIP!

    Got my daily Hip fix.

Saw the Hip three times on this tour. Dallas, Houston and Austin (whose motto is "Keep Austin Weird") and when Gordon went into the lines "Bring on the requisite strangeness/ It always has to get a little weird...a little weird" the audience exploded. Reel em' in Gord! and I hope it never ends!

The Tragically Hip-the greatest band on the face of the Earth!

  • ...and to that "little slice of heaven" that was with me in Austin, that intrepid young lady, I'll never forget you! You made this ol' man's heart beat faster every time that I looked into your eyes.

  • I was with u bro!!........And yes, BOTH of those "little slices of heaven" were incredible..........LONG LIVE THE HIP!!!

  • Saw The Hip @ the Hammer on Oct 2nd! Lots of vids posted @ my channel! But these here are professional! wow!

  • Awesome any chance this will be released on dvd?

  • Can't wait till the hip come back to Victoria!

  • I love them. Saw them at Troubadour in LA - smoked a little 420 with johnny out back. awesome guys.

  • What a beautiful song. Much more powerful live than on the album.

  • Then I am too

  • Are you going through something?

  • What if this song does nothing?

  • It's kinda ironic because almost every Hipsong does something...they make ya think...what does Athabasca depend upon? Who is Hugh Maclennan and what did he do?(writer-one of Canada favorite sons) Hipsongs celebrate the wonder, mystery and diversity of life!

    LONG LIVE THE TRAGICALLY HIP!
