  • @XBurntBProductionsX the way you explain sports is like you've never played one in your life. Loser. Is about being ACTIVE not sitting on your ass thinking with an imagination like an 8 year old. Do you get hot girls like that? No. Guess what buddy, hot ass girls like guys who play sports and aren't Wierd. But whatever it's not my problem that's how u are

  • Community sent me here.

  • wait does all this shit happen on that small board

  • @steven20600 Obviously your new to tabletop RPGs. But about your question. Yes, and, no. Lots happens on maps (This is the board you talking of) like battles, the reason you use maps in battle is for specific movements your characters do. But a lot take place off the map, most people don't use maps for everything, like going into towns, or roleplaying. Without a map it allows you to use your imagination. If you have any more questions just message me.

  • @thehuntress144, whenever an epic story is created, it borrows elements from art, history, literature, and nature itself. It isnt stealing or ripping off. Its the creative process. And d&d is not a rip off of lotr. Just read DM of the rings and you'll realize how absurd that sounds

  • @TheZiggirawk I use the term "rip off" loosely, but come on...Tolkien is the grand-daddy of the modern day fantasy genre. halflings are clearly hobbits despite the great lengths wotc legal dept has gone to convince us otherwise. also, d&d obviously lifts from ancient/arthurian legend...even the paladins are lifted from medieval era mythos. it's a fun game; I'm just saying d+d was never particularly original so why get irked if Skyrim "ripped it off"?

  • @TheHuntress144 You're right. Technically Tolkein was in a Norse Myth LARP group way before D&D along with C.S. Lewis, and he'd be the first to admit that the LOTR were an homage to Norse Myth. If he wasn't so antitechnology I think he'd approve of both D&D and Skyrim for the dedicated study involved in world building in both.

  • @TheHuntress144 D&D is more original than any other fantasy, game, book, or movie.

  • k i was looking for somthing with out miniters

  • ...I think well probably just use old monopoly pieces when my friends and I try this lol

  • Dragonborn of Skyrim is a rip-off of d&d and so Alot of things related to any RPGs.

  • @TheMessanjah which are all a rip off of JRR Tolkien's 'Lord of the Rings' trilogy which is a rip off of mythology from ancient civilizations and medieval europe.

  • @TheHuntress144 D&D was the first RPG of those things, so it takes the honor.

  • 0:07 lolls.

  • This is all crap. They just want to sell you new books. The original AD&D books from the late 70s early 80s are all you need. DMG, Players Handbook, Unearthed Arcana, Monster Manual 1 and 2, Fiend Folio, and Legends and Lore (Deities and Demigods). Even back then they came out with crap (Oriental Adventures, wilderness, underground). They will never stop "improving" the game. Don't get caught up in it. The books you buy today will be obsolete tomorrow. Thief is now rogue? PC crap.

  • @pac43man I forgot Manual of the Planes. Awesome. Also the original Greyhawk box set is awesome. The old Dragon magazine had lots of good ideas for DM's. You don't need miniatures! You need dice, paper and pencils. Oversized graph paper is great for mapping and structuring melee. IMHO the greatest module ever written is The Temple of Elemental Evil. All the best stuff was written when D&D was still owned by the now defunct TSR. RIP Gary Gygax

  • @pac43man Exactly, I think its best to find a edition and roll with it. Though new editions are cool to check out, its much better if you get a collection of a certain edition you wan't to play.

  • Now there is 5th edition. With luck it won't be the travesty that 4E is.

  • @Draegn Grog...

  • "But what really makes this game special is that it's a game you play together with your friends."

    "well I guess I can't play then."

    lol

  • WAIT I thought DnD was a computer game... So confused

  • @FalconCrystal DnD came out in the 1970's...it a paper and pen rpg game in its 4th edition. Its probably the best rpg out there because you actually rpg with other people and not with computer determined responses...

  • I have only the Advanced Dungeons and Dragons stuff and its pretty hard to learn it. this video helps alot.

  • Heroes enter room, Pour entire chest of monsters on the board.

  • Wow, you really have to be a fucking geek to play this shit! LOSERS!

  • @excap someone with a monkey fetish shouldn't insult people...

  • @excap I am a geek, and proud of it. This is the common comment for someone who has never roleplayed before. But what makes me any geekier than you? I play a game that requires though, friends, and imagination. Not a game where people get sweaty, dirty, and touch each other far too much.

  • hahah bald

  • The Virginity is strong with this one.

  • this game looks really cool!!!!

  • lol 666 likes

  • I don't care about no warlock, I want my monk back, dammit!

  • @TheShinobiSan your game, if you have the old rules for a monk character, use them :D update them where necessary to fit levels of the others. :)

  • I use to think D&D was a too much. Then I took an arrow in the knee.

  • is it just me or is this guys head kinda huge?

  • Dragonborn.....SKYRIM !!!!!

  • Long live 3.5 !!!

    Especially Pathfinder…

  • original AD&D and version 2 is my thought. I am used to AC being from 10 to -10. Additional modifications should be up to the DM. How to organize enemy combatants should be advice given on the internet. Actually Players handbook, DM Guide, and MM should be online. Though a computer can simulate random numbers, it can not replace dice.

  • Act now and get your own Chris Perkins to DM your games....

  • It would be funny if vin diesel busted into the room and went fus roh dah and baldy and his game board got blown off the screen.

  • Dungeons and Dragons is a very "interesting" and revolutionary game consisting of imagination and turn based combat. I would recommend this to anyone who has any time to spare.

  • hey uhm have you ever thought of making an online version of this game? Im not talking about DDO, Im talking about The board game it seemed like it be fun, because Im tired of playing with the same people. please respond Thank you!

  • @UTFxMarcus I think if your an insider at the D&D website (some kind of membership) you can join some testing that is exactly what you are talking about. Its not free though. :(

  • No top comment, my time to shine.

    BALD.

    That is all.

  • Fuck.... I wish I had more nerd friends. Why can't nerds like me dress right? wtf its like they have no social sense. I dress like a boss, but I'm also nerdy as shit. why can they not become one with eachother. it disturbs me

  • Like this comment if Community made you want to get this game!

    save-community . com

  • @the2fang2guy Wow, you are such a badass. You picked on supposed weaklings to compensate for your small dick. Good job

  • I have never played D&D before.

Is it worth giving it a try?

  • @TheManOfJenga It very much depends on what you expect.... it's a great game, but it needs a lot of time.

  • Which set has the Lifedrinker Greatsword? Plz reply if you know.

  • Tiefling and Dragonborn new? Oh please we had them in 3.5 also

  • @plasmasnake402 yes but u could not use them right off the bat, u had to work to become them

  • Been a cleric since 1st.. Fuck dragonborns!

  • gotta love being the only Melbourne teenager who actually wants to try this stuff >.>

  • @the2fang2gang dude. Two of my friends who play DnD are athletics that could beat YOU up anyway. And why the f*ck are you talking about RECESS!? Are you a eight year old trying to look cool!?

  • i hate that not enough people play this game, so help promote it here by talking about it WhyIsEveryThingSoCrazy.weebly.com

  • @the2fang2gang alright dude, go tell Vin Diesel that.

  • wow your cool.. ur looking up how 2 play this.... btw how did u get here lol

  • @the2fang2gang So how was school today, Billy?

  • Im convinced! Were do i buy it?!

  • TOO MUCH WORK, FUCK IT!

  • When my group reached the level 3 we had already started a civil war among gods that would lead to almost certain destruction of most of our plane...

  • @Paapyna I love games like those, ESPECIALLY the ones that completely throw off EVERYTHING the DM plans.

I tend to be the bumbling rogue who can't pick locks or disarm traps, but somehow manages to pull of spectacular and almost impossible saves when my life is in danger.

  • @SmartMiroku Yeap! We're still on on that game and we COMPLETELY renewed our DMs story! And the "War of Gods" was caused by a little mystical symbol that one of our members left on the table of a certain captain he murdered just to fuck up the minds of those who came to investigate it... And once when we were on desert we found a merchant boat coming selling water... Ofc we thought hes prices were too high and I finally managed to slay him after 3 hours of poking him with a "fang".

  • People hated 3.0 & 3.5 when it came after 2nd. Just how it goes. Most of what people say about 4e is wrong. I have been a DM of all editions of D&D & many other systems as well...4e is a good d20 system. CAN roleplay well in it. Do not have to use miniatures (1square= 5feet), Though they help in ALL editions. PC choices & builds are not railroaded They just say what many know in other eds, to be clear for new players. All classes have worth. Powers are badass. Still have the normal basic attack.

  • @inlife9 also if you are new & dont have an investment in 3.5, Pathfinder, or 4e. I would hands down say go 4e.

  • @inlife9 well there's obviously something wrong with 4th cause they're already working on 5th... :\ apparently it's not selling as it should and stuff like that. They already canceled some books. They gonna hire back some of the crew that was on 3.5 and left when they saw and didn't like the direction 4th was going.

  • Dungeons and Dragons: Tamriel Setting NOW!

  • 4th edition?? 3.5 My friends, 3.5....

  • @DeathDealer20111911

    What's wrong with 4th edition?

I've just started playing and all I know is 4th edition.

Can you explain the difference between the two, and why there is so much hate for 4th? Shoot me a personal message?

  • @DeathDealer20111911 amen to that.

  • So how about d&d will always be greater than skyrim, because of the sheer limitless opportunities of the game and how much fun you have WITH OTHER PEOPLE not alone

  • My friends are playing Skyrim, but I'll never leave the side of DnD

  • Cough*PATHFINDER*cough

  • @MinecraftElf what the movie?

  • I play poker with my friends and win some moneyh!

  • I have friends, but I keep my nerdy gaming self in which I'm into a lot of fantasy things and games, books and Yogscast separate from my normal teenage girl life, I can't play this with my friends :( they think I'm nerdy enough playing wow and minecraft LoL!!

  • @whiskerwolf1 I know how you feel. I wanna go around playing magic and DnD but I would look so nerdy... Maybe I can discretely convince all the cool kids to play?

  • I would love to play this but there are no places to play near me

  • @davidho4 same here. Small UK towns full of chavs aren't really hotbeds for fantasy roleplaying.

  • Jonathan Ives of D&D

  • D&D is a very advanced boardgame combat simulator and a good one at that (considering they've had 30 years to develop it, it's not surprising). But to call it an RPG is to be out on deep water.

No RPG worth the name contains levels and focuses solely on combat, which is just one way of solving conflicts. In these kind of games, everything naturally revolves around combat, as it is a combat simulator.

I feel truly sorry for those who want to play RPGs and have only played games such as D&D.

  • @ubbecykelkedja You must not know enough about it to know what you're talking about... It's not just a combat simulator. It is just like, but actually better than a video game, because it is not limited by a computer. The only limit to the game is your imagination. You create your own plots, characters, you can even create your own monsters, if you know what you're doing. You act out your characters, like if you were playing a barbarian, you would say, "Derp want." You can't do that in a game.

  • @Screamingacurse You don't have to explain to me what a RPG is. If you want to actually play a RPG, D&D is a terrible choice, among the worst I can think of. Sure, you can do whatever you want, within EXTREMELY restricting boundaries to both GM (called DM in D&D, giving a hint) and players. The lore is awkward to say the least. If you would go outside of set boundaries, the entire game would fall to pieces.

I feel genuinely sorry for those who interested in actual RPGs, who have only tried D&D.

  • @ubbecykelkedja You're out of your mind.

  • @ubbecykelkedja mind giving an example of a game you wouldnt be 'genuinely sorry' to recommend then?

  • Lmao, sounds good but there is no way i cold get enough people involved. Especially if one had to sit out and be dungeon master.

  • Like this comment if Skyrim makes you want to get this game!

  • @HubbsClassics this game made me want to get Skyrim

  • @HubbsClassics Elder Scrolls, Lord of the Rings, Dungeons and Dragons. With these people call me a nerd because i play, read and learned about all these. Those people are stereotypical retarded jocks who only focus on bashing people senselessly in Football, and get a 70% in college grades.

  • @BaxterXenon Is this some kind of insult? Just so you know, I got low 90's in high school, hat football and was by no ones standards a jock. Furthermore, I've spent easily over 100 hours reading up the history behind games and stories such asDragon age, Elder scrolls, Lord of the rings, etc.

Also, I do not consider you a nerd purely on the basis of your playing a table top role playing game.

  • @HubbsClassics no it's not an insult. I always thought i'd be insulted by playing DnD with a good reason. I just never could hear the day someday a "jock" would have the decency to insult me for no reason. so sorry if i offended you.

  • @HubbsClassics this game has nothing but nothing with Skyrim. Skyrim is never with teamplay or friends, it's more like this dungeons in WoW or D&D the game or Dungeon Siege. It's just totally different

  • @EchtePoekel I agree to a degree. D&D is far more similiar to Dragon age than Skyrim, which I believe used D&D as an influence for the romances, moral decisions, character relationships, stats, etc. However- I never said they were similiar- just that one reminded me of the other

  • @EchtePoekel what about keeping it simple like D&D Basic?

  • @HubbsClassics Skyrim is nothing like DND...

  • @HubbsClassics What if this game made me buy Skyrim?

  • Comment removed

  • Did he just say Dragonborn? SALOOOOS!

  • i would play but all my freinds are jocks or wogs (no offense every one who fits in this category)

  • i always thought D&D was realy dorky... but now that ive looked up more info about it, i feel like i want to give it a shot. im realy into creative freedom kind of games

  • @swissyode Ikr, It seems pretty fun but before you'd know anything about it, people would automatically think it's really dumb, I sorta wanna play it too now. >_>

  • In forth edition can you be an assassin?

  • @MegaVergan yes, not only are there two different style builds for the assassin class but virtually any character could be considered an assissin if you equip them right and train them in skills like stealth.

  • 4th edition sucks,WOTC,thanks for screwing up a great game

  • @jwashe1234 See, I think it's the best edition yet. It's finally a group effort, instead of everyone else being reduced to carrying the casters' stuff. I also like the narrative control that has been put in the hands of the players.

  • A group of my mates decided they want to try Dungeons and Dragons, I'm the only one who's ever played before and knows any of the rules (Though it was a long time ago and my knowledge is now quite limited) We'll be playing 3.5 edition because 4th is gay. I'll be DMing since I'm the only one who really can, but as I said I've forgotten much and never DM'd before. The group is going to be 7 or so people, so a large amount for a first time DM'er, any tips? I'm also writing the campaign.

  • @RyanHawkz and you felt the need to post this because...????

  • @Makoman2008 Obviously you didn't understand the premise of my comment, I was asking for advice. The better question is, why were you too stupid to comprehend the nature of my comment, and why did you feel the need to reply to it and make yourself look retarded?

  • @RyanHawkz i have tendencies to skim comments. i reread your comment and saw you asked for tips. i apoligize for sounding like a dick. also, i didnt intend to be mean, i was literally just asking

  • @Makoman2008 Don't worry about it man, it's all good.

  • Anyone know where i can get some of those figurines? I need one badly :P

  • Chris Perkin's other D&D 4e videos got me to buy this game after playing nothing but Traveller and its great. Now I play Encounters games weekly plus am starting a new Pathfinder game and I play D&D games with the kids as well. Its a great way to get together away from the TV. I prefer the openness of D&D 4e to Pathfinder, which is too rules intensive.Certainly miniatures are the way to go, get them on Ebay, but the tokens inside the excellent range of Essentials products does just as well.

  • how does he get his teath soo white???

  • lurv dnd!!!got it,luv it!!!gunu make ma own club at school.cant wait!!!

  • the school im going to next has a D&D club! so shiked loL! XD

  • this was very helpful.

  • me my cousin and my friend were gonna start playing this while just talking over Skype (they live in another country) would this be just as good as it would be with the board n figures? and is is possible to play with only 3 people?

  • @oOoAeroMonkeyoOo In the swedish version of D&D(in sweden named dargons and demons) you can play just 3 persons and dont need any board or figures, but it gives a better experiance!

  • @oOoAeroMonkeyoOo YAH DUDE I ONLY PLAY WITH 2 ME AND THE DUNGEON MASTER ^^

  • Comment removed

  • My fiancé plays D&D via webcam every other Saturday. I'm glad I watched this video--it helped me understand the game much better! Thanks for uploading this!! :D

  • why is it that all I could think of when watching this was "Damn that guy has nice teeth" ?

  • MOAR LIKE CLUNGERS AND FAGGONS AMIRITE!!?? LOOOLLLLL GEEEEKSSS, WHO'S UP FOR SOME FOOOTTTBALLLL???

  • @maradona87

yeh i'll play some football(real football, not gayFL) Also if your just dissing D&D because it has a nerdish stereotype then that just makes you another ignorant sheep. Haha, have fun in your little world of ignorance.

  • @AusNav09 LOOOOL CALLS HIMSELF AUSTRALIAN AND DOESN'T LIKE AFL

    >2011

    >YOU

    >A HUGE FAGGOT

    PICK ALL THREE! BUTTPWNED.

  • Chris seems so dull in this just explaining the basics but when he plays Acquisitions Incorporated with penny arcade and Wil Wheaton hes amazingly funny and cool. Hes a god amongst DMs.

  • NEEERRRDDDDD....represent

  • I wanna play this but idk who to play with looks like an awesome game

  • I don't have any friends to play D&D with, but I'd love to have some of those books to read on the shitter.

  • 4th edition is fantastic, I hope they keep supporting it for years to come! I had very mixed feelings about D&D back then, but this edition I love.

I think people who bash 4e are insane or simply never tried it. It's a better system than 3.5, simpler, tighter and more complete, and the tactical combat is amazing, never gets old.

  • so what happened between 3rd and 4th edition?

  • These guys took D&D and... KILLED IT!!!

  • I wish I had all those minis...

  • im a 40k player. obviously ive seen dungeons and dragons alot going to the comic store. thanks for showing me what the hell it is

  • Looks like World Of Warcraft Board game

  • This game is demonic and dark sided. Don't play it alone or you'll die of boredom.

  • @crusty21 who would play it alone

  • @crusty21

haha you can't play it alone dude.

  • Comment removed

  • 4 edition isnt even dungeons and dragons... its horrible

  • I wish more people played this game. Today if you played this game you would be labeled a geek or nerd, which sucks because that discourages people from playing this game.

  • @TheGeneralBurn well it is "geeky" and "nerdy". you just have to realize that doesn't matter.

  • Blegh, I can't stand 4th Ed rules. 3.5 was so much better.

  • Lol "Bring to the table." Nice pun

  • @MrDarkOnion lol

  • Two years ago I watched this video...And bought the game the day after. :) Now it's almost the only D&D I recognize as "holy". :)

  • BETHESDA STOLE DRAGONBORN?!?!?!?!?!? 1:07

  • @supremeG1000 Quite a lot of video games have taken D&D creatures and ideas. Lich's and beholders are probably the most common monsters created by D&D in video games.

  • jizz in my PANTS

  • Chris Perkins could talk about anything at all, and he'd still sound interesting and sexy.

  • These toys do not work more than for garnish.

  • This game is a big shit... BITCHES!!!

  • I'm only considering D&D right now, but i have the feeling i wont regret playing.

  • how could you kill aeofel >:

  • Dragonborn, just like Skyrim. I think Skyrim gets inspired by this and Eragon :O

  • i wana play really bad but im scared if i ask any freinds ill get beat up

  • @LxJhq Show them the video series with the writers of Robot Chicken playing it.

  • I wanna start playing this shit... but the only person Ik who I know would wanna play... lives in America lmaoooo

  • @TiddyTraci

There are online communities that provide opportunities for players to meet up. Obsidian Portal lets you advertise and search for game groups and campaigns that are looking for new players in your area.

  • @TiddyTraci Apparently Wizards is working on an online program to let people play over the internet, so you could always try that when it leaves beta.

  • @SuperGoliath89 oh D&D online? do you have a link for that =D?

  • @TiddyTraci I don't think you can actually share links on YouTube comments, but just google D&D Virtual Table, and it should come up. Also, D&D Online is actually an MMORPG based in Eberron. It's completely different then the Virtual Table.

  • Is it possible to play D&D 4E with 1 DM and 1 player? It's not easy finding players you know D:

  • @Ryodisis It's more fun with 3-6 players, but there's no reason why you wouldn't be able to do a one on one game and still enjoy it.

  • 4th edition can suck it

  • If i even mentioned this game to anyone i know i would get called a nerd and therefor i can't play it :(
