im a sophomore at a high school in VT and in my first race on my new 188cm gs skies (r<27. . .) i straddled a gate, wiped out, landed on my head and was out of my sport for several weeks with a severe concussion
Alright guys throw on the padded sweaters, goin back to old school . I bet the next step is fis certified bamboo gates and 200mm minimum slaloms skis. I'LL WORK ON MY A-FRAME!!!!!
Thanks for posting this video. It really shows where the pivot occurs in GS. The masters in my club ski on a long radius ski (23m +) but the courses are set at less than that. Your demonstration video is the best I have ever seen to demonstrate how to use a long radius ski.
Cc12442 this is the equivalent of taking NASCAR back over a decade. People like you who want to make sports boring and impose things the athletes themselves don't want are the antithesis of progress. Tomba was a good skier because he pushed the boundaries and would never agree with you. Please just stay on the bunny slope and out of the way of the real skiers!
Alberto Tomba could carve on worse skis than the FIS is proposing to use. Get over it, the tips won't catch, and the release will be safer. TOMBA CARVED!

Yes. That sliding brings back memories. Just have them make the skis a little longer and the risk for straddling in GS will be right back to where we left it in 1989...Thanks again, FIS.
I dont see why they would ruin what I believe to be the best discipline alpine skiing has to offer... GS combines fast tempo like slalom with similar transitional movements as the speed events, it is the ultimate test of a skier in my mind... thanks fis... :(
yeah those rules don't make sense. at all.

so much about a smaller risk of injuries.

It seems that you don't have the full control...I think this is more unsafe than the actual skiing.
Greetings.
