alright what you wanna do now is place your arms around his back firmly, but not too hard, make sure they are around the higher back, you dont want him to get the wrong idea, now what your gonna do is squeeze tight, make sure he feels the love..
i think the biggest part that most people miss when they try to study a martial art, or a few simple self defense technique is "start with whats comfortable". if you dont have someone bigger than you to practice this, try to go for a different technique. My favorite is called the "throw something heavy and run away" technique. very, very effective.
This is actually a very impressive move. I've seen it used on the streets in Brooklyn and Staten Island mad times and it always gives the fighter an upper hand. It's easily taught and practiced, so a person that's fighting and stepping to someone can do this fast and bring the guy to the ground in less than a few seconds. I thought it was just a street move, I never knew it was a BJJ move.
And I think there's another very good variation of this where both arms are free from the opponent's shoulders, one goes to the throat and one to the neck, and the same thing is done, I think. I don't know the variation, I'm going to ask someone about it now, but it's almost the same thing.
I`m 6'5'' 240lbs, because im big, this is another takedown from a basic roman greco clinch to add to my arsenal along with some classics; judo throw, hip toss, wizzor, body locks, and many sweeps. Thank You.....
actually, a few years ago, my brother got into a fight with a kid a few inches bigger than him, and the first thing he did was this move and the kid went right to the ground. He even used it on me when we were sparrin one time and I was a whole foot taller than him and like 80 pounds more, but I dropped like a leaf...maybe if u practice it a lil on someone bigger you'll get a better handle on it in case you ever do need it
Since takedowns are all about leverage, practicing on someone bigger will actually force you to rely on technique rather than strength. So you're %100 correct.
yes of coarse it can work but lets say the person is taller n bigger then you are.....to get control of his posture will be very hard. try doing this to other wrestlers or fighters who are taller....its going to be very hard so dont bother doing the move....as you see in the video the guy demonstrating the move is taller ....if your shorter they're better techniques then this.
It'll be the best decision you ever made. That's assuming of course you're talking about Brazilian jiujitsu. If you're talking about Japanese jiujitsu, it'll be ONE of the best decisions you ever made.
Honestly, I don't think what you're saying applies to THIS specific takedown, but the whole point of learning takedowns is to have it drilled into your memory so it becomes instinct. If you have to stop to think about what your instructor said, then you clearly didn't practice it enough or you just aren't fit out to be a fighter.
@yourmajesty07 ya. when this is in full force it works. and its the one i use the most. so i dont get what these people are sayin'....its not like its a hard one to remember either
i dont care all about techniques when someone is coming after u at full speed. yes and no, but what i would do is something quick and fast and not trying to figure out what my instructor said of how to do this and that from this point of view. its good but not what i would use, so in my case it's horse shit.
@Tfelty43 mm no Tfelty43 just no, if your tryin to remember what your instructor said at that moment means you need more training, once you reach a higher level it would become a reflex
its possible to go for a trip as well, by bringing that right leg behind his opponents left, (while keeping opponent locked), and throw your momentum at him let him fall, and go for an anaconda.

is it possible for the the man being headlocked to pull his head out?
countercrackers 2 years ago
yea, with the risk of breaking your neck

not exactly the agressor has his left arm under his opponents right armpit, which basically controls his upper center of gravity.

Looks good! but than again alot of moves look good I'll try it in training and let you know how practical it is.
