  • hahaha~ the comments are more clever than the illusion.

  • I still don't get it

  • people are obviously standing behind them putting there heads in!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @MIAandCD Oh my God. Seriously, just please don't talk.

  • yeah, this is old technology now. you could buy this type of thing at wal-mart or spencers gifts 20 years ago. But when the haunted mansion opened, it was a brand new technology.

  • they have this type thing at mount vernon, but a huge george washington head!

  • No shit, sherlock!

  • Lame

  • Huh?

  • In houston texas (:

  • We have one of those things at this cemetery and its Jesus , and his whole head followed me , i touched it and it was like a empty dent.?

  • Well duhh .

  • scary

  • =D EPIC!!

  • i would run home

  • EFFING RUN!!! Before they hitch hike home with you!!!! *dash!*

  • You barely noticed? You must need glasses to not see this...

  • That is awesome!!!! XD

  • you have to flush it inside instead of outwards, I've tried it and it worked

  • OIC!!!!

  • next time, can you put your hand in it????

  • Everybody here is WRONG.

They are CONCAVE version of FACES made in translucent white plastic.

the features remain the same but you are actually looking at them in a different place than where YOUR EYES think they are. thereby confusing you.

in other words you are looking at a mask from the inside part inches behind the Vertical mounting plane. you eyes expect it to be inches in Front the Confusion gives YOU a "following you" effect. (NEGATIVE motion)

  • well of course! that's the amazing power of Disney magic!

  • all upeople that do secrets ruin disney magic

  • @MrMilkypanda ...I kinda agree with you ! One should not shed 'light on the magic" ! I had figured out this effect myself years ago when I visited Disneyland. Let the lines go in front of me and examined the effect up closse until I figured it out.. Later, when the movie and book companion came out- it confirmed what I already knew. Supposedly, this effect was 'discovered' by mistake bak in the 60's in the studio research and developemnet dept...

  • @MrMilkypanda ...then don't watch those videos... there, problem solved...

  • this sucks

  • it's not magic it's machanical it looks like a statue but it's made of metal and plastic it's a robot

  • @111mrsnickjonas how is it a robot. Let me sum it up: Get full mask with no openings. Turn inside out. Light from front. Put on stand. Enjoy.

  • it works well with a camera, not so well when you are up close and you look at it with both eyes

  • Anyone explain? I still dont get it O.o

  • wow, DUH!!!! i knew this when i was 5!!!

  • HOHOHO LOL!

  • isnt that just a um....like a dent in the wall with the face in it?

  • no duh thats how it works...most people know that...its just fun

  • @kilt41 Yes, if you think about it logically, it does(:

  • there concave

  • I knew that trick when I was in the ride!

  • ohh i totally see it now

  • Yeah we have a porcelain Jesus face that lights up in our house like that, it's like inside out and lit from the front, so when you walk past him it looks like its following you.

  • ohh i get it.simple but effective.

  • the heads are put in side out to (like the backside of a mask). The thing that makes it work is that they light it from the front side. your brain "knows" that statues mus be 3 dimensional, so it thinks it's that way. The brain tries and makes it to look right, only to fail and make an odd looking "Following" effect, making it look like the busts are folowing you around. For people who have bad eyesight in one eye or 20-20+ vision, the effect does bit work as well.

  • @MrMystery96 lolwut

  • @MrMystery96 lol our brains are stupid

  • what makes it move is that the statue head is carved in the wall instead of sticking out of the wall it is like sucked into the wall wich i dont get how it works either it just does

  • i dont get it how does it move

  • @spngebob1237 its jus the angle u look at it.. the face is actually inwards rather than sticking out of the wall its liek a face shaped hole.. from different angles the face looks like it follows you

  • ur absoloutly right

  • its kinda creepy even if u know this stuff huh lol

  • next time you go to disneyland or disneyworld, go up to the railing where they have it and lean in as close as you can to the "statue" thing and then it will make sense :]

  • ah, the famous "inner face illusion"

  • i figured taht out first time i went in haunted mansion lol

  • wtf??

  • ur an idiot it is an elevator.

  • It's not an elevator? Then what is it? There's two of them.

  • wow :O its was backwards and it opped out and looked at u but exactly how does it work??

  • reverse masks are inverted but your brain tricks it into thinking it isnt.

  • Silent hill music? lol

  • haha That's the only thing I focused on, too. haha

  • Comment removed

  • The one in Disney land is an elevator in Disney world ir isnt

  • not its cuz the face is in side out so like it would look like illsion reminder um anytime u go to disneyland and u get on the haunted mansion get close to it and u can c it in side out

  • its hallow so the illusion face turns

  • the faces are carved in

  • omfg freaky if you loik closly tnhe face follows u!

  • fail...

    wow >.>

  • Yeah. It always does that.

  • i don't get it

  • this is not an illusion. its disney magic. it is a statue that turns its head. well at least thats what i wanna believe.

  • @707tinman707 YOU sir ARE F*CKING AWESOME

  • omg i get it now u move and the illusion is inwards so it moves sorta well u get wat i mean so it looks like the head is moving!

  • had to watch it twice but i get it now.. thats awesome

  • its sooo simple once ya think about it! :) im going sssoooo sooon

  • So did they just turn the head more to make it look like it pops up opposed to concaved?

  • To me only the right looks as if the effect is working. The real ones at the haunted mansion at DLC are negative impressions and with the right lighting tricks your brain into thinking that they are following you.

  • wow u r so smart

so what u r saying is that the effect tricks the brain making your eye believe its turning which will cause an optical illusion

  • it looks 3D but it's actually a concave (meaning bending inward) illusion

  • yeah uhh weird from my poing of veiw

  • it caves outwards away from you thats why

  • i know how how its done..my grandfather worked their for 30 years. the trick is the face is in the inside of the wall and with slight glow it gives the illusion of a 3-D effect.

  • the one on the right your looking at the insides and it turns as you look at it.....

    i guess....

  • that's the illusion :D

  • Whoa thats weird....

  • its the hollow face illusion

  • the lighting isn't quite right to make this illusion work properly. but, nice try.

  • hard to tell what is happening. This is the back side (illuminated), but are they actually moving? looks like there is a hinge in wall?

  • how did you get this video?
