  • Can't wait till tomorrow nite (1/20/2012) I'll be two feet from Dave watching them haul ass in Southern California at The Coach House!

  • Do you believe Rolling Stone just announced the top 100 guitarist and Morse wasn't on it. Goes to show what a rag it is !

  • epic

  • BEST !

  • no wonder Morse is Petrucci's hero.

  • スティーヴ・モーズ~~怪物ギタリストの怪物ソロ~~恐れ入ります!(*´д`*)90年代トリオ時代

  • /watch?v=rNDy4476FUQ

    Check him, amazing

  • Grande Morse, fenómeno!!!

  • Easy Chris Impellitteri!!!!!!Do not copy Steve morse.hehehehe

  • I listened to this while I did h/w, so I wasn't paying attention

Thought I was 15 minutes in; turns out it was just ending

  • this band's guitarist plays like Steve Morse!!!!

    /watch?v=KZJKPLo32aE&feature=related

  • I also admire Dave larue on the bass-he seems a techy John Entwistle to me,with those super flaps and fascinating grooves. They both play breath-takin'ly amazing!!

  • epic fokuhila xD

  • ksmithdc just to make sure I get your instructions right is that centigrade? And do I need help in basting???? I could use my SMY2 guitar to kindle the fire!LOL

  • @VyrasVargrPK I love Satch but he couldn't alternate pick all these arpeggios if he tried. 2 completely different players.

  • One of the masters I enjoy very much.

  • Obviously the greatest masters such as Beethoven, Bach and Mozart combined both; technique and emotion. Your saying that emotional content is not synonymous with good music is open to debate and to state that whether music moves you or not is irrelevant is a strange statement to make. If someone said that out of the four key elements of music; melody, harmony, counterpoint and tempo one was irrelevant it would at best be a rather contentious view.

  • Emotional contente is very poor! When are all you people going to understand that pyrotechnical displays of speed no matter how impressive in terms of technique are not synonymous with good music...two notes BB King are worth all these hundreds of notes...remember what Saliery said: "Too many notes" ha ha ha ha

  • @turockandar

When are YOU going to learn that 'emotional content' is also not synonymous with good music?

When are others like you going to learn that 'emotion' is NOT the most important aspect of music?

I listen to music to hear interesting compositions; whether it moves me emotionally is irrelevant to the quality of the music itself.

  • @NeuxyzPRAWNZ Agreed 100%. When somebody listens to fast passages and the first thing that comes out of their mouth is "all speed, no emotion", I immediately recognize them as a retard.

  • @turockandar You sir are retarded. Go turn on your oven to 350 degrees, insert your head and baste every 30 minutes.

  • Why when Petrucci plays something like this, people say he is emotionless?!

  • dixie rock

  • can anyone explain his picking technique?

  • @GregWarnsMusic He alternate picks all the time. That's it ;)

  • He is great so much !!

  • muiiitooo fodastico *O*

  • fuckinnn looserrr !!!!!

ritchiee blackmore was way way more better

  • @sa3dorfe3e lol ,morse owns blackmore

  • @eightsixboy1 LOL

  • GRANDE STEVIE MORSE¡¡¡¡¡

  • kurt cobain learned how to play the guitar :D

  • Blimey! :o)

  • I was wrong, it's not Mitch Hedberg, it must be Steve Zahn up there shredding.

  • I TRIED LEARNING THAT....IMPOSSIBLE,,THERE ARE WAY 'TU MENI' NOTES...

  • Comment removed

  • @nemogre listen and compare it to "eclipse" from Malmsteen.

  • the rapid arpeggioes on the intro part sounds like malmsteen

  • @bachinblack94 i dont think so

  • @bachinblack94 i love malmsteen too. but i dont think these arpeggios has to do with malmsteen style.

  • @catapei They don't. He has a degree in classical guitar from University of Miami. (He was there at the same time Pat Metheny was, BTW.)

  • ti adoro !

  • and still are guys that says "jimmy page is better than morse" hahaha

  • @DANGILBERT03 u must be a big idiot !!

  • is it just me or i hear john petrucci in this...?

i mean its like its obvious that this man is petrucci's biggest inspiration. the way he uses chromatic notes and stuff

  • @cgDominic yeah you sure hear it =P I saw a video last week where petrucci talks about morse and his prefference for alternate picking instead of sweeping and taking a lot of ideas from morse... i believe petrucci gets his "non-clean" stuff from morse too hehehe both can do pretty stuff while playing in a really dirty way

  • es simplemente incrible !

  • Is that Mitch Hedberg shredding??

  • he kicks yngvie malmsteen in the nuts

  • 1:40

    the best !!!

  • my step dad saw him live. he said that steve did the thing where you lay something down, hit a button and it woould keep playing it over again(srry dont remember what its called). but he did it like seven times, then he picked up a electric violin and played that. and the whole time the crowd was completely silent cuz they couldnt comprehend all of it.

  • @rookieguitarguy thats what you call a looper

  • Morse is definately 1 of the greats. but lets not kid ourselfs hes not the best. that being said this is a great song and Steve is awesome.

  • @CurbsideLife And who is better....I suppose you're gonna say Vai or Van Halen? The beauty of Steve Morse is not just his incredible talent but his reluctance to shred the hell out of the guitar at every turn. Steve Morse is THEE best....bar none!

  • @fitrunner2500 whatever u say

  • the bassist is one of the best. theres one song which morse and the bassist play the same notes like every 8 notes its amazing.

  • best straight alternate picker on the planet....

  • not only steve a god look at the bassist

  • 2:21 sick drum beat...neat drummer

  • Definitely the best guitar player on the planet! This guys picks every note in an arpeggio! No sweep cheating here...damn! Amazing sense of timing and precision. Makes me wanna burn my guitar! Love Di Meola and McLaughin too, but Morse is INSANE! Band is happening too!

  • That drummer has one if the sickest mullets I have ever seen.

Steve and Dave are pretty good too!

  • well, I can play first five notes of this piece just as fast as Steve does, but then there are just... y know, too many notes

  • all around the best guitar player

  • I would love to get decked by steve morse at least once in the face before I die, the first time I seen him I felt like I got punched in the face, I just want a real punch.haha

  • this is a southern musician. kid rock is famous because popularity is not a calibur of talent. he can put that in his pipe and smoke it.

  • This guy was kicked from a music school coz he didnt want to cut his hair.bad mistake...

  • LOL...he looks like the drug dealer in a 70's movie.

Before you rage, I am 41 years old and realize what a musician and person Steve is. I have met him and talked with him on a few occasions.

  • raged anyway

  • @krelbar rofl at the 41 year old all caught up in modern day computer slang :P

  • @laerti No - he was kicked out of HIGH school for refusing to cut his hair. Then he went to U of Miami music school. He was there vabout the same time as Metheny and Jaco.

  • @laerti high school, not music school.

  • @laerti really? i thought that was tommy bolin.

  • @laerti Nope. He was kicked out of 10th grade for that. Then he went to music school.

  • @laerti His hair gives him his power.

  • @laerti What school?!?

  • @apophis135 Obviously they weren't good enough for Steve Morse to even cut his hair.

  • Comment removed

  • @laerti

i thought he got kicked out of military school/academy

  • this song is the best!! Steve Morse for ever<3

  • holy santa clause shit

  • I saw him do this in 1989 at the Living Room in Providence. I had this good guitar player from my friends band come out to see him. When they played this song, he was sold!

  • des isn reverb wagrschienlich oda er hat ein delay

  • Alex Lifeson and Joe Satrini all in one!

  • Wie rzeugt steve das echo oder so bei dem gitarrensound?

  • That was cool. Its so shredy but very well played.

    5/5

  • this is a badassbass!!!

steve is the monster of alternate picking

  • Obviously God can't play the guitar and compose songs like the MIRACLES by the mighty Steve. Nobody can play like Jaco Pastorius, nobody can play Guitar like Steve Morse. This is not disputed.

  • Yeah, okay. I'm going to chop up my guitar and use it for firewood. What's the point? He's not from this planet. One day he's going to pull off his mask and reveal that he's an alien from another galaxy. Nice camera work, by the way. I find the mtv-style of half second jump cuts maddening.

  • steve morse is a god

  • is that a vibrato bar on his basssss????

  • Fantastic!!!

    Grandma mary

  • What seperates Steve from the rest of the pack (malmsteen, satriani, etc), is his abliity to alternate pick everything he does! No sweeps on these arpeggios and very few hammer ons-pull offs. This guys is the Master!

  • O Steve Morse é o cara!!!

  • simply the best !

  • I love his musical and comical humour. Tumeni notes.... Get it?

  • yeah, something like "tooooooo many notes"

    xD

  • the first 5 seconds sounds like mozart, vivaldi...

    hmmm...

  • some minor and diminished arpeggios...all the great composers used/use them :) Bach for instance!

  • Steve Morse you Rule!

    but he missed at 1:04

  • am i wrong if i'm saying that he forgot to turn off the delay in some parts?

  • Reminds me of The Well Dressed Guitar, very nice tune

Here's a link to his axe, BEAUTIFULL!

    Cheers

  • echo

  • what guitar is it?

  • Man, this is a good song, and he plays it so beautifully, just perfect. Almost as good as on the album. Steve Morse was the first real guitar god!

  • it's a good song but sounds like michel angelo batio's yngwie can't touch this

  • That song you're refering too is called "The Finish Line", first off. Second, Tumeni Notes came out almost 10 years before that song, so Batio would be ripping off Morse's sound, not the other way around...

  • i din't say that morse rip it off from batio

    duh

i just said that sounds similar

  • NOT sounds like michel angelo batio...

BUT michael angelo batio sounds like this...

    just a word game...

    and different meaning as well...:D

  • ok it's true

  • From a distance Steve kinda looks like Steve Zahn haha

  • so true:DDD

  • pa mi que este bato nacio en un rancho no encuentro otra explicacion a su sonido tipo campirano, del oeste o algo asi

  • haa

  • Steve Morse is God

  • Great performance of a very difficult tune!

  • lol,....drummer was a little confused there before the first bridge.

  • Steve Morse

  • look at the bass player's sneakers

  • tumeni notes is from High Tension Wire but i like more Major Impacts vol2... anyway there aren't bad albums...

  • Steve Morse is one of my all-time favourite guitarists. I haven't checked him out in a couple of years, and his ability amazes me as much now as it did 3-4 years ago.

However, I didn't like the hyoooge delay effect he used here.

  • Yeah it seemed like much more delay than what he usually would use!

  • the best guitar player in the world... i can't say anything more...

  • Drummer provided by cocaine

  • great!

  • Can I point out that his guitar is ugly as fuck, but it sounds amazing ?

  • his new ernie ball guitar is beautiful

  • steve morse - guitar

    dave larue - bass

    van romaine - drums

  • thats what david russell would look like if he'd play an electric!

  • hey can someone please tell me how can i get the palm mutting sound he has at the intro. If i mute my strings, it doesnt sound that sharp like steve. Or did he even mute his strings while playing the intro? or is the treble set to really high? im really new at guitar here but keen to learn it. Hows the amount of settings for his distortions, bass, treble, mid, all these kinda things? Could someone good please help me? I am using a les paul btw =)

  • He is using palm muting. Just lay the heel of your hand gently on the strings at the bridge.

In the intro he is using fairly little distortion/gain. The treble isn't particularly high, you can set the EQ to taste because it will always be different because you have a les paul, try using the bridge pickup( or both together) and hit the strings fairly hard.

  • really good song...but dont like the effects he used...

check my videos...i have the studio version :)

  • what the hell???!!! WHY DID YOU CUT YOUR HAIR??????

    nice version by the way...:P

  • This was right after Steve had taken some time off to become a commercial pilot. Take a look at the cover of "High Tension Wires," and you'll see his hair even shorter. Luckily he's now making enough that he won't have to do anything crazy like cutting his hair short again.

  • Oh My GODDD!!! Superb! Steve Morse you are super

  • the guitarist and the bassist are awesome they can blend it together well

  • Steve Morse=God, better then you,

and one who doesn't like him, FUCK YOU

  • ur a tart i met him he is god

    STEVE=GOD

  • I dont want to ignore their tenichal abilty but...

    LOOK AT THEIR SHOES!!!!

  • "superb"!!!!!!!!!!!Steve Morse is the best guitar player in the whole galaxy system and will be always...

  • You should also check the guitar players he likes and respects:Eric Johnson,Steve Howe,Pat Metheny, John Petrucci, Steve Lukather...

  • U NO WHAT UR TALKING BOUT

    i met him

  • Steve Morse!! 5 times voted Best Overall Guitarist!!! Technically perfect. He has all, technique, melody, rhythm. Strong use of chromatic scales. His influences go far beyond rock only. Respect!!!

  • Tu meni notes (too many notes), he, he!

Steve Morse, one of my favourite guitarists.

  • is he palm muting the strings for the intro? if he is, how could the notes still be so clear. hes so strong!

  • nope, i think he isn't, It might look like he does because of the position of his picking hand, that's way different than normal

  • oh i see. but how does he must the distortion sound so clean? i mean there're parts where he has to pick arpeggios when the 3 or more notes are gonna ring and sound like a chord. but i dont hear that in him.

  • well, his picking is really unique along with it's sound, and he is capable of playing with alternate picking really complex arpeggios that normaly would be played with sweep picking. And playing those arpeggios clean, is just a matter of practice, I've tried some of that myself, if u want, check out my vids, but off course, nothing like the great steve!

  • I think he sweeps. At least a bit. But you can really say that he has a damn good picking technique..

  • tough audience then, sheeeesh, I love ya Steve

  • one of the hardest songs to play

  • PERFECTION!!!

    Thanks so much!

  • awesome

    steve rules!

  • damn nice man! love this.
