No. But that's because the longest string of cutscenes is only about 48 minutes. :p I actually have a save file before that section (and a couple of the other long ones) just so I can watch them again when I feel like it. XD

the fmv scenes here still completely beat down Star Ocean 4 or any other rpg square-enix has made till now. xenosaga has the overall stronger voice acting with much nicer music to follow-through. you just don't get the feeling you get from this game compared to other ones. and bear in mind, i like Star Ocean as well.

Xenogears was the 5th story (of 6) in the Gears-universe. But the Gears-universe, while similar to the Saga-universe, isn't the same one. So Xenogears and Xenosaga aren't related beyond concepts.
It's kind of like the Super Sentai shows (the shows Power Rangers is adapted from). Similar themes, concepts, and formulas, completely different universes and stroy lines.
I wonder what your definition of hard is. Xenogears against embryo Deus, now that was frickin' hard. Xenosaga had the most enjoyable and strategic battle system.......once you get the hang of it. Don't get me starting with the horrible Ep 2.
I love the original Xenogears, but currently I'm making my way through xs and so far I'm not sure if it lives up to the hype. I actually like episode 2 so far but episode 1 it seems just introduces a lot of story concepts without elaborating on anything. I don't really see how that can justify XS1 as a good game on its own. What do you think?
I think XS1 is leagues beyond XS2 in quality. XS1 introduces everyone, sets up the story excellently, has a great battle system, and manages a fairly self-contained story (despite being only half of the original concept, XS1 and XS2 were originally intended to be one game but time constraints split them). XS2 is too much of a jumbled mess, the story is a lot duller, and the battle system is horrid in comparsion with XS1. XSIII, though, blows both out of the water on all counts, IMO.
hey it's been awhile, but I did get to playing xsIII like a week after that post. I agree, it was very awesome. In almost all regards (gameplay, story, graphics, speed) I liked it better than the previous two eps, but it was a shame they sort of threw out their old system in favor of a more ff menu based battle system.
Plus, being a huge XG fan I was pleased with all the xenogears easter eggs :)
this game was so effin hard i was always dieing whenever i did anything and leveling up too FOREVER!!! so i just gave at the end so now I am watching it here.
Heh. Leveling up in Xenosaga isn't the best way to get stronger. In fact, a well stat boosted level 20 team could kick the crap out of a level 40 team without any stat boosts. In my last playthrough the final boss was a joke even at level 42 because I had KOS-MOS' stats through the roof and Shion's Spell Ray dished out about 1200 damge on each shot, and I got two every turn. :D
Yeah. Her original VA was soooo much better in the first than the second. I've heard her original VA came back for the third but I've only played about an hour of XSIII so far and haven't come across KOS-MOS yet.
It takes a while to get to her in XSIII. You've got an entire dungeon to get through plus a lot of story segments before she's introduced. And her original VA is back and sounds awesome in all three roles. <3
Though, personally, I don't care too much for her Version 4 frame. It's better than her V2 frame, but the V3 frame is best, then V1, V4, and finally V2.

FF7 is an over-rated mess. It's plot has more holes than Swiss cheese. It's a decent game, mechanics wise, but the story falls way short.

I liked this series except for 2 things

Meh, to each their own. I love the XS series. The first and third games are definately in my top 10 of RPGs. Along with FFX.
