  • When you said that last part is why you should have it on a string

  • this is math -_-...jk but seriously

  • ima try it tomorrow its -50 right now

  • arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr its pronounced al you mini !um

  • we tried that but the plastic just melted. XD

  • i wonder if using cotton and alcohol would make the cut?

  • @Champy8181 yes it works the best

  • what other cool things have you made?

  • thank you for this video! I've been trying to do that for a while, but haven't found any reliable sources.

  • Man what a smart kid!!!!

  • Cool

  • this kid is like highschool level

  • boy i can't wait for my mini hot air balloon to land in a dry field...

  • My friend link this to me and this is very good video. Did you edit videos too?

  • @DJDuppe I edit the videos with FinalCut.

    Slater

  • use some cooking oil and cotton to replace the candle

  • BALÃO DE VIADOOO !! _|_

  • @fucaopreto1 SEU COMENTARIO TAMBEM.

  • This kid did better than most adults do on their videos.

  • @JoesEpicAdventures Kids are better in Science. I Made one out of tissue paper, but i don't want to launch it.

  • @Thanks

  • @Could u use a tea light candlie

  • @Themonkeyboy122 I think a tea candle would be too heavy.

  • Hi guy's, im trying to make hot air balloon for my project...but its not working..im trying same thing & also taking care of weight...but does it only works in low temp environment ...?? can we fly this thing in 95F. plz help me out !!

  • @luckylovesall Hi. I need details. The next part talks about how small bags are not efficient. Also, though you said that you are taking care of weight, the bag is by far the biggest weight factor. I have never been able to get typical garbage bags to work. To answer your low temp environment question, some of the smaller bags will only work in cool weather. But find the right bag and it works in hot weather. Let me know how it works out.

    Slater

  • @sciencetoymaker Im pretty stuck with this project, In fact it tried it in air conditioned room but no success again. I believe im missing some important factor of making hot air balloon. If i can send you my experiment pictures by mail, may be you can help me finding the missing factor??

  • @luckylovesall I'm pretty sure the missing factor is the thickness of the plastic bag. However, you could keep making a bigger fire until it actually melts the bag. You could keep adding candles or use string wrapped around wire, soaked with denatured alcohol. Also, I can't link on comments, but search for a website called overflight . They have ideas for using lots of candles.

    Slater

  • @sciencetoymaker Hi, I have cracked it, the Hot air balloon. It went up very well, in hot temp :). As you said the thickness of the plastic, i searched for the thinnest plastic & it worked very well many thanks for your help. Tomorrow iam gonna experiment it at day time when its the temp is at highest level. wish me luck :)

  • @luckylovesall Bravo!! Good work.

  • Hi guy's, im trying to make hot air balloon for my project...but its not working..im trying same thing & also taking care of weight...but does it only works in low temp environment ...?? can we fly this thing in 95F. plz help me out !!

  • @luckylovesall By the way, in addition to my other answer, I see that you live in India. That makes it more difficult because I do not know what products are available. What is the thickness of the bags you are using? Stores that clean very expensive clothing might have very thin plastic bags used to protect the cleaned product.

    Slater

  • @sciencetoymaker Thanx for reply. My bag is 20"/30" & 30"/50" in dimension, frankly i don't know how thin is my bag but i choose the thinest available in the market & yes i also tried it with garbage bag & some more different thickness plastic bag, they did'nt work also. You are wright im from India & temp is high at day its more than 100F & by night its still over 85F.

  • @sciencetoymaker i have made a few of these but on all of them the candles melt threw the bag. any tips?

  • @koreanman963 I suspect that your bags are too small. In the next part (part 6) I talk about the strategy for dealing with small bags. If that's not it, inform me of details: size of bag, thickness, # of candles, outside temperature, etc. A video response of would give a clearer picture of what's happening.

    Slater

  • thats gonna ruin your house.. dont do it inside of your house... :D btw nice vid :)

  • واااااااااااااااااااو انت اكثر من رائع الصراحة هذي اسهللللللللل طريقة

    الى الامام يا فتى

  • Where did you get those bags?

  • chinese kids could rule the world, while you jack off and don't know where the remote is....

  • this is the best

  • long stiff part haha. lol

  • Hi Search in youtube for balão modelado, balão piao., balão truff, balão fogueteiro (fireworks)

  • i did EVERYTHING the video said it was EXACTLY like that one in the vid and it would not go up !!!!!

  • @zPeeNuT

ok, i believe you should try using bigger plastic bags than that of in the video and add up 1 or two more candles. i saw one video and they'd used garbage bin bags, about half the size of a man 5'9 ft. tall.... but they did not use candles, instead a fire starter and it flew so high outside.... just give it a try... i wish this will help you...

  • @JediGuardianMaster Thank you sooo much i shall give it another try .... thanks :)

  • this video makes me madd for some reason

  • i learned a lot!!!! thanks

  • i cant believe 7 people dislike this

  • it was gay

  • best video yet

  • better use hairdryers to heat the air inside the a balloon

  • is that balloon boy?

  • dude why all the math NERD

  • @omerofox because nerds rule the world

  • Doing an egg-drop. if there was an extra few oz, how could i still get it to fly?

  • Very useful information about calculating the axes (X0.7)

  • This was great! My daughter and I made one with dry cleaning bags with 8 candles. This how-to video series was educational and fun!

  • ok why not use a small very screw to keep the candle in place

  • @phillipskid32 It's a good idea. How about you try it and see if it works. Sometimes the devil's in the details.

    Slater

  • @phillipskid32 it wwill weigh way to much.

  • pretty cool little dude

  • 25 milliliters from the edge? That doesn't even make any sense!

  • @awesome220 it would if your not dumb! (25 milliliters = 2.5 cm DUH!)

  • @3d834 From the edge of what?!

  • @3d834 From the edge of what?!

  • @awesome220 he's clearly taking about the aluminum foil, he says it while he's measuring it.

  • @3d834 Enough with you post ad hoc reasoning.

  • /watch?v=H9XYYCEQ858

  • i think if you stripped the wax the string thingy it would go up higher

  • @ChinkyEyesz There's always a balance between weight and fuel. Less wax means lighter weight, but the candles will burn out more quickly.

    Slater

  • y cant i make mine fly

  • i couldnt stick the candles on so i hot glued it, works better

  • @galenator123 Good idea. Does it still work ok when the candles burn down?

    Slater

  • @sciencetoymaker yeah, i think so

  • what about a smaller plastic bag?

  • @TDLakaDavidLover Smaller bags are more challenging, but can be made to work. See part 6

    Slater

  • @TDLakaDavidLover Yes, see part 6

    Slater

  • @TDLakaDavidLover Yes, see part 6

  • @TDLakaDavidLover Yes, see part 6

    Slater

  • Thanx! Very informative. Am impressed with your responsibility and added safety content in the making and operation of these great homemade floating balloons. Well Done!

  • half candles work beter

  • @wuuht Yes,lighter weight, though they will provide heat only half as long.

    Slater

  • great job but what earlwood69 said ill give you a 4/5

  • You could use a hair dryer to initially fill the baloon then light the candles to send it away.

  • @cdltpx Yes, that would make it easier.

    Slater

  • pretty good/ gave us ideas on our balloon we use a plumbing tourch to give it a strong burst of heat view our video balloon boy

  • @earlwood69 Great! Funny!

  • oh man i cant believe!

gj kid, i cant believe that a kid made all of this! GJ 10/10

u got my comment rate and sub, ;)

    keep up the good work

  • cute

  • gonna make one for new years eve (did i spelled that right? xD dont know for sure but ok xD) thats what i gonna do thanks to you guys :)

  • made one good design i'm a little nervous about burning myself if the bag ignites is there a way to avoid this and is there a big chance it will happen

  • Well, Part 3 addresses safety. Plastic is not as easy to start on fire as tissue paper, but it will burn under constant flame contact. It's a good idea to have adult, common sense supervision and a fire extinquisher on hand.

    Slater

  • It can be a little nerve wracking when you hold a deflated balloon up and wait for the fire to inflate it - it's easy for the flame to melt a big hole in the plastic if it gets too close. After making several candle balloons I became more comfortable with the inflation - now it's easy and I make my own candles that burn with larger flames for faster inflation and heating.

  • this is perfect! i'm making a hot air balloon for science class & our first attempt failed miserably...

is it okay if i use you guys for my source?

    thanks(:

  • We would be honored. Yep, when making these hot air balloons the devil's in the details.

  • lol

thks i will make it Now ~

  • this is an awesome video!!! if u dont have enough string to ge it back try a rock throw it at the balloon it will come down

  • 5/5

  • cool

  • You should also mention to always have a fire extinguisher handy when playing with fire.!

  • Good point!
