I disagree. Jello tends to be very pendantic with specfic political figures as reference points of his spoken word. The only thing he did that was like this was the United Snakes of America rant. I don't think Lydia is ripping him off at all. I think she's obviously inspired by Hubert Selby Jr. and Henry Miller but she makes the work her own. Check out a spoken work comp. called " Our Fathers who aren't in Heaven " . Some of her best stuff.

I think Lydia and Jello are both working from the same inspirations perhaps, but I mean spoken word as art , if you go back to Brecht or all the way to Strindburg, has always been inspired by the marginal voices of society paying witness to it's falsehoods. Thomas Hardy's books were burned by the Church for daring to address social hypocrisy. The very idea of doing such was seen as subversive. I still respectfully contend that Lydia has her own distinct persona in her work.

You know what, Lydia is a survivor plain and simple and she did what she had to do to survive. To my ear 13.13 and her work w/Die Haut are some of the best things ever done. Crap about Koch & the whole "Jewess" BS; If you feel the need to insult her at least be creative, pulling down to the lcd (anti-sematism)is just plain lazy & pathetic.
