haha,u can see why the lad signed them from atco back in the day,u hear em talking bout it in th vh1 doc even in 80s pantera were arena ready, best metal band of all fucking time
I think what he's trying to say is that probably it's because that the whole groove metal thing started to wear the band down with less ideas than they used to have. Take for instance, compare Vinnie Paul's drumming to "5 Minutes Alone," then go back two albums and listen to "Domination." You'll hear more aggression and speed there. But to still use double bass for songs like "Walk" is a BIG laugh. Also, I personally think that Phil's vocals became too nauseating to listen to since VDOP.
@coolbrother1000 I dis agrree, I like all eras of his vocals but my fav is his heroin riddled days!!! I cant explain why, but it just sounds better too me personally
If Pantera didn't change their style prior to VDOP, they would have ended up being a grunge suppressed 90's thrash metal band like all the others. But they would probably exist today and play 2,500 people venues and festivals like in the early Pantera days. Excluding ofc the Monsters of Rock show.
I agree, I love thrash/galm 1987-1991 pantera more than anything else in life! But there's no denying that pantera still made the best metal of the 90's after cowboy's.
u're fuckin right all of u!!i listen to everything that has guitars bass and drums from 70's till today but i think pantera is the ultimate band.both in playing and as persons....the best band ever....sad but true....
thank you so much for posting this, as somebody else said it is a pivotal moment, the transformation of Pantera into the band that would sign a major and sell millions. Awesome, they were really just couldn't be more ready to do what they did, they were so ripe, it's almost unbelievable. I guess the industry chewed em up an spat em out a bit, especially Phil. R.I.P. Dime!!!!
Pantera literally transforming before our very eyes from a Glam Band into a Thrash Metal band at the dawn of the 90s. Very much indeed a watershed moment in the history of heavy metal.....
wgy did everybody give some dude thumbs down when he said they can kiss my ass? hes just sayin a part from the song man.fuckin fags "oh lets give em a thumbs down."
