  • I've taken German for 4 years now and I have been to Germany once and I think these videos are a very good way to hear the many different ways people will talk or respond :) Awesome job and keep up the good work I wish my highschool would have done something like this for non English speaking places

  • Manche schöne Mädchen in Köln...

  • When learning from these videos I can understand this one the most. This is due to the person asking the quetions , is not a native speaker of that country therefore he speaks slower and more clearly.

  • U TALK VERYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY FAST AND EVEN IF I TRIED TO UNDERSTAND YOU WITHOUT LOOKING TO THE SUBTITLES IT IS SO DIFFUCLT ! :/ EXCEPT THAT THE COURSES ARE AMAZING THANKS

  • german girls are so hot.

  • I love how happy they all look. They smile often, like Americans. Notice how this differs from those in post-Communist countries. Support economic freedom!

  • 3:48... SHE'S 15? I would've guessed 27.

  • I love that this guy in the red jacket was trying to fix his watch... is that right? 3:12 and he comes back around at 3:57... Classssic!! Great immersion method. real language... as it's really used in conversation

  • ahh i've been there!

  • I know this is not inappropriate time...but the two girls from Mannheim is such lovely girls!!!

  • Pferd Esel Deutsch mein schlecht korrigieren Sie mich

  • I used to work at UPS in their international shipping division and their biggest air hub in Europe was based out of Cologne Köln. I would assume the UPS offices there would be located at the airport (flughafen), did anyone ever work there?

Ugh, it was a pain with all of the shipping invoices, and duties and tax. It was my job to contact US shippers when their packages ran into problems in Europe. I dealt with German UPS'rs but it was done in English only, I wasn't studying German then.

  • I wonder if the pedestrians who have been interviewed ever find these videos and see themselves. Have you ever had any comments from the people that are in the videos?

  • at 0:31 the brazilian guy says: "eu conheci... " but in the subtitle is written "eu connheçi..." with Ç, it is wrong

  • God, I wish I could go to Germany. Their culture and language is so fascinating. I was fortunate enough to take 2 German courses in my High School but hell, I'm still far from being able to carry on a conversation more than how nice the weather is and what not lol.

  • ich speche nur ein bischien :( ich will schnell lernen, aber das ist unmoeglich. sehr schwer. schwer aber schoen :) greetings from romania :)

  • @magauchsein such a stupid interpretation... every female student who says "Ich bin ein Student" has some serious problems with the german language. If something is female, you have to put on the suffix "-in" at the end of the word. "-innen" for plural. True is, if u have a mixed group of male and female, you can leave out the female ending "-in" or "-innen" at the end of the word.

sorry for my bad english. my german is way better. :D

  • I lived in Wurzburg Germany for a while, the Germans are the nicest people you'd ever want to meet. Can't wait to go back...

  • Caçapava??? Just 100 Km far away from my city!

  • Im from germany :D If anyone want to learn german add me in skype : onesmileforhim or in icq :434923660

  • @ElTrollBoy

This -"innen" is stupid. It was always just: "Studenten", "Lehrer", "Polizisten", "Soldaten". Then there were a lot of waves of women’s emancipation movement and among many necessary and essential changes there were some obviously stupid ones, like the new way of writing: "StudentInnen", "LehrerInnen", "PolizistInnen", "SoldatInnen". But normal people in their ever day speech would not use it.

  • @magauchsein eigentlich benutzt man es schon

  • @Lloydinsky

mittlerweile sehe ich es auch so :/

  • Comment removed

  • @Lloydinsky

    ja silly people benutzen es

  • @slavicman09 nein

  • @Lloydinsky

  • @ElTrollBoy

no you are actually right. when you say it with "political correctness" it is StudentInnen. Honestly, I don't care how anyone says it, but there are lot of feministic woman who can get quite mad if you don't "gender" the language.

  • Was machen Sie beruflich

  • god i love this so much.. ive been obssesed with the german languae lately.. n i wish i had a close friend who spoke it ! :\ sigh. until then its all about online courses.

  • @berrysweetx3 lol nein, she's mine!! =)

In case you didn't get that, I saw Inglorious Basterds and that's what inspired me to learn. I felt that the German people spoke english too well in that movie for me not to speak a lick of German. Also, ich habe gelernt.

  • extremely usefull

  • German language is canal

  • @ohorok2 er what?

  • @findingmiddlegrey sounds like barking, very angry, completly not smooth, like power-saw, without legato but strong staccato

  • @ohorok2

I beg to differ. I've found it's quite a beautiful language once I began to study it. I also find it aesthetically pleasing in written from. But each to their own I guess. Although your comment offends me, I will not bother with trying to 'enlighten' you, as the impression I got from your comment is that you are probably not one to change your opinion of things easily. So, fair enough.

  • @findingmiddlegrey You can NOT change my opinion of German language because you can NOT change this language. I had to study it for 4 years and i didn't find anything nice: mad grammar, poor vocabulary, ugly accent, non-conformtable pronunciation. I understand you are probably Anglo-saxon, so i understand that you like it.

  • @ohorok2 Well seeing as you HAD to study it, I don't blame you, I HAD to study Singaporean in highschool and I hated it with a passion. No I am not Anglo-Saxon. I am fifth generation German-Australian, with no ties to Great Britain. Which I guess makes me a little biased. I am having to teach myself the language though so it is still foreign to me. I guess i just find it to be a handsome language and I think the accent is attractive.

  • Respond to this video... ah you're Czech... how did you find learning English? was it difficult? do you like English as a language?

  • @findingmiddlegrey I find English very important for comunication, studies, traveling, web-surfing.Almost everywhere you go, you can use English,NOT German(Only 2-3 countries in Europe).I thing it's very simple, souns well.Almost no declension or inflexion of nouns or verbs.I had problem with irregular verbs and with using tenses.I like it because English connects this world.I just hate ugly sound of German and Franche, and I also dislike how think they that their language is nice and important.

  • @ohorok2 I agree, I dislike how the French consider their language so above every other. I personally find it irritating and overly complicated. The sound of it is annoying and pretentious. And every time I think "okay, I should probably just try and learn some basic French" I always start learning a few sentences and usually lose interest after ten minutes. But I am still passionate about the German language, I think our difference in opinion simply comes down to personal preferences.

  • 1:30 Holy shit that guy has an incredible voice. He should do voice-overs and stuff like that.

  • @HitlerSongs

he might be doing something like that as he is working for tv he might be an "offvoice-moderator"

  • Hot girls!

  • @oprah999

I don't see him much. He study chemistry or something. We still want to make another Easy German Unit one day :)

  • @magauchsein Why does the guy at 2:59 say, "Ich hatte ein Freund gehabt"? Aren't you supposed to say, "Ich habe ein Freund gehabt"? What is the difference? How do you know which one to use?

  • @mynameisjonas45

"Ich hatte einen Brieffreund gehabt" sounds a bit wonky, but many people use it in everyday language. As you correctly pointed out "ich habe einen Freund gehabt", or simply "ich hatte einen Freund" would have sounded more elegant. But despite the variation there is no difference in meaning and all are technically correct, which goes to show that German is a bit more forgiving than English as far as tenses are concerned. :)

  • Thanks for the lessons. I've been studying German language for two-years now for business. I work with BMW and Mercedes engineers. These videos help.

  • The punk in this video is so hot, im going to germany to find him

  • Depending on where you did this in America, you'd get punched in the face. Sadly, new york isn't like that anymore, and you'd probably meet friendly out-of-towners, and hipsters.

    Super! ich gratuliere euch!

  • I need an English speaking course -.-^^

  • bloke looks like jerzy dudek

  • 15 years old !!?? That blonde girl looked much older than 15 . That's not right. lol ... On another subject, Jim should have said from the get go that he was Brazilian. It would have made the interview more entertaining and he should loosen up a bit. Good job nonetheless

  • @Omari54

you are right. In this lesson we lost most of the material. We see only the "long shot" camera. Later we went down to the front of the railways station and had really good, hilarious talks to people with the "close up" shots. But the battery of the audio recorder broke and we lost all the recordings :(

  • @stealth1692

I would love to do such a stunt in England :D And don't worry, we got told fuck off many times :D I guess it would be easier to talk to people in England. In Germany most if them don't want to talk to you. And in this video we lost the best part of it made with the camera on my shoulder. The battery went weak and we couldn't save the audio. I was really devastated on this.

  • @magauchsein yeah you probably could do one here for people who want to learn english

  • @stealth1692 you're just an english fucking cunt

The blonde girl at 3:39 really turns my crank!

  • nice learning the future European Union language. The video sounds very nice. The Lady and the guy are really very good. I learned a lot

  • the punk boy is the best in this video. I find this video very good, because this helps to learn so easy.

  • Erm, I seem to be a little confused. If he is interviewing more than one person, shouldn't it be "Was macht ihr in Koln"? Suggestions please.

  • It's "ihr" if he would speak to Children or people he knows. People he would adress with "du".

The polite form of "Sie" to adress Adults you don't know stays "Sie" in the plural form, as well.

Even more confused now?, I hope not ;-)

  • Very good job, greetings from Chile

  • The punk in this video is so hot!

  • LOL!danke

  • I love the girl on the right at 1:55. German accent, intelligent, leather jacket, and lots of fun. What more could one want?

  • @EggheadOfTheFuture

yeah i agree id tap that

  • @EggheadOfTheFuture What did you mean by "german accent"? They're all supposed to have german accents, aren't they? o.o

  • @EggheadOfTheFuture Are you kidding buddy? That girl seems like the most loud mouth kind of girl, did you see how she just cut her friend off when she was saying something and did ALL the talking. hellll naaaawwww

  • those girls at the end are HOT!!!!!

  • @stealth1692 i otta slap the fuck out of you! jk ja they are sexy :P

  • these videos are priceless.

I'm so selfish; I wish they had a new one every day.

  • Hi I'm learning German now and erhmm this isnt very related to the video but can anyone please help me with the dativ and akkusativ reflexiv? When do you use which? thanks!

  • I can't promise anything but visit our German Language Forum on our website: solarnet tv - they can sure help :)

  • Hi thanks alot for the recommendation erhmm but i still cant really get an answer... Do you know of any other site i can check out? thanks

  • @jaimelamusiquebill do you already have an answer?

oh at first, i'm really sorry for my english, but i'm from austria and i just speak school englisch.

dativ and akkusativ are really difficult to distinguish.

In most cases the dativ ends with m, and the akkusativ with n.

  • @jaimelamusiquebill There is the dir-dich-trail, but it's difficult for you because dir and dich are the same word in english: you

    for example:

Ich kaufe einen Apfel (I buy an apple)

Ich kaufe dich (I buy you) and then you have to use the akkusativ.

Ich helfe meiner Mutter. (I help my mother)

Ich helfe dir (I help me) and then you have to use the dativ

Recomendo.

  • @leal1968 Hallo! Obrigado! Thanks for the recommendation but sorry I cant really understand POrtuguese! hehe Could you write in English instead? Thanks!

  • @jaimelamusiquebill Understood. Don't mention it.

  • Brasileiro com esse nome? Jim Jones?? hahaha

  • That is what I thought! Lol.

  • 1:40 Er hat eine nette Stimme.

  • it would help if the translations would be at or near verbatim.

  • that chick was 15?!?!?!?!

  • 15 years of school doen't mean 15 years of existance...

  • @PostrauMatik oh... okay.. 3:48

  • please i need help to laerning deutsch

  • realy i can help you XD

  • Thnak you for uploading all this Easy German lessons!! Danke schön!

  • Actually, there are just a few left which talk in hardcore dialect and this guy, which says "ich bin beim film und fernsehen" talks very fast & low. if you got any question to any german word/sentence, just leave me a message.

  • when the guy says "ich bin beim film und fernsehen"... i actually don't think i could ever understand someone speaking like that...
