Nice video joel, I subscribed, i have an 800 MHz iMac G4 with a GB of ram, running OSX 10.5 with leopard assist.

arent today everything usb 2.0 like usb flashsticks and devices? will like my usb drive work with it? (also this will be my frist own mac if i get it - thaats why i dont know much on em)

@MoarReviews This Mac Would Not Be A Good Gaming Computer For More Modern Games. If you would like an older mac, but able to play good modern games on it i would suggest the iMac g5 with 2-4gb of ram and they usually come with about 150-250+ gb of hard drive memory. I got one with 1ghz, leopard, iwork, office, and ilife '08, the speakers (which don't crackle, yours are blown, they blow easy) and the keyboard and mouse. Also adobe design prem. cs3. IT ROCKS. It shares the desk with ma' pc.

I got the USB 2.0 model... with 1ghz processor, 512 RAM, 32mb GeForce 4 MX graphics, Mac os X 10.3.9.. Mine came with speakers and Keyboard, but I got mine for ZERO DOLLARS AND ZERO CENTS... Someone was throwing it away... Idiot

i got mine for 25$ yesterday. its at 1.25ghz with 512mb ram 20" display 160 gb hdd running os x 10.3.9 panther

i got it at my local thrift store.. appearantly they thought it was just a monitor. but my win.. and im going to upgrade to leopard and put in 2gb of ram and an airport extreme card with bluetooth... and possibly if i can work more get a ssd for more quickness.

Do you think this comp would still be good for everyday computing? i.e. itunes, iphoto, surfing. I know it depends on the base model, whether or not you can get it to run Leopard etc. I just like the aesthetics of it so much.

You Need 10.4 Tiger and you need to upgrade the ram and it will be pretty quick, my G3 seems faster than your iMac. i have 1GB ram 500Mhz with tiger its pretty quick

You can't connect a ipod because ipods need usb 2.0 and your has 1.1, 2.0 is used for most data transfer.

Try getting Tiger or Leopard (Tiger should run better on this than Leopard, and even 10.2) then you should be able to update iTunes properly. You'll need Leopard at least for 8+ though methinks.

you cant connect an ipod/iphone to this machine due to the non compatibility of the usb 2.0.

I just bought the 800mhz 15" imac g4 with 512mb on eBay for $130 and these have only a usb 1.1. These are sweet machines nonetheless.

I'm thinking about grabbing a 20" imac g4 1.25GHz with all the accessories for $350.

Yes it is, all you do is unscrew the bottom of the iMac G4 and the ram is rite there! You can easily talk it out and put it back in again.

you need to buy mac osx tiger and then update it and you will be able to watch youtube , sync ipod.etc

once you installed tiger , click apple , about this mac , software update install all the updates

well you have to have at least gig of ram to watch youtube but it will play very very slow & you wont even be able to watch anything. With itunes you need 2 gigs of ram & its not even worth doing it on an old imac because its so dang slow if you want to be able to do what new macs do then buy one!!!!!!

Oh man that would be so painful to make a video on iMovie in there. I used to make my videos on an older PowerMac G5 with over twice the processing power as yours and twice the memory and it was soooo slow. Can't even imagine it on yours. But I'm still thinking about getting one purely for the design and for some word processing and a little web surfing. It looks so great. You can get them cheap too. Nice video!
