  • what monopoly?

  • .fuck apple. fuck everyone who uses apple's shit.

  • Apple doesnt know open source. And ppl support it. sad....

  • Correct, Apple hasn't used any copy protection for music for several years. Steve killed DRM with his famous letter. (google it)

  • but iPod doesn't have a "monopoly" on music, not even close, so this guy is uneducated. you can get music from radio, cd's, albums, pandora, etc... the iPod is "vertically" integrated, NOT a "monopoly", so he doesn't even know basic business vocabulary. geesh!

  • When the canadian I know talked about iPod, I was sure he was talking about iPad. and Sean (as well as the interviewer) the same way. They are talking about the iPod right? :D

  • you compete against Apple and the iPod by creating a better product but most are not able to do that because they dont think different. just ask sony.

  • He says absolutely NOTHING here! Agggh! why do folks listen to this guy!?

  • uiiuii[[

  • I guess it's kinda amazing that he's trying to do a music service in 2012. Um. What?

Who has a problem with iTunes or the 'Apple Monopoly'... uh, nobody, unless you're a competitor. No one has a problem with it because it plays pretty much every format. That's "Fairplay DRM" and if you're a normal user, you should never bump into its limitations. Best of luck Sean.

  • @wesscoast *SIGHS* Study A little economics please, Sean Parker is a Billionaire so apple monopoly wont bother him as it does us. Monopoly is bad for us the consumers because it means that Apple can sell us ridiculously overpriced gadgets and get away with it. If Apple had a equally trendy competitor do you think the Mac would cost $2000? For a LAPTOP! So Yeah Apple Monopoly IS the consumer problem, cause we are getting exploited BIG TIME in case you haven't noticed.

  • @TheQueenl92 - But Apple doesn't have even close to a monopoly... that term is used for "market distribution, control, then abuse", Apple probably has around 14% of the overall "music market"... and you need to have around 80% to be termed a monopoly. So learn about business before posting.

  • @TheQueenl92 - Mac laptops start around $1,199, desktop Macs around $599, so quit trying to lie. You get more than what you pay for when you buy an Apple, we all know that... so quit with the hate.

  • Apple's new CEO just signed a nearly $400 million pay contract. That's what you're buying when you buy an Apple.

  • @m015094 - but that's over 10 years! and he doesn't get nearly that much unless he stays the full 10 years... do research dude!

  • @tnoyy34rt No shit idiot. That's why I called it a contract.

  • @m015094 - yes, but you made is "sound" like he was automatically getting $400 million, so watch it next time...

  • What do you do with Apple's Monopoly? Make a better product for consumers, rather than bitching Sean Parker

  • this guy is probably a fantastic writer

  • this guy has a gift

  • If you want to move content around, I guess. . . get a standard MP3 player maybe?

  • @austntexan He wasn't talking about it from the user perspective. He's talking about content distribution networks.

  • @austntexan - the iPod plays all audio standards, it's the most open MP3 Player don't forget.

  • @boogiebuddy01 well ...you dont get to be a billionaire by having qualities normal people respect...sean parker stole music...mark zuckerburg fucked his friends over...bill gates created a whole market model which set the trend for monopolisation...which steve jobs perfected by suing everyone and their dog...any company that has more than fifty percent marketshare should be avoided on principle-- there used to be laws against it.....

  • It's not Apple that pays $5/day, it is company's like Foxcomm, which also assemble products for some of Apple's competitors.

  • i love apple

  • apple fan boys don't realize they controled by evil corporation

no freedom at all to the user...

not to mention the crazy prices, fuck apple

  • Apple are such fucking cunts, I don't even bother using my iPhone/Ipod for music anymore - because I can't stand itunes. Its the most restrictive program on earth, things like transferring music between your own devices is an absolute nightmare, you click one wrong thing and it will wipe your entire music album.

Not to mention for a company that pays its employee's in the third world $5 a day (and has suicide nets installed around their facilities) their products are overpriced as fuck.

  • no way he gets pussy like in the film. He looks way lamer than Zuckerberg.

  • @stewiegriffn Because he's way smarter than Zuckerberg.

  • @stewiegriffn compared to mark he is a pussy by the look of him seriously look at his clothes haha he looks like a fucking buttler

  • @stewiegriffn It's a film.

  • Like every visionar before him, it allways starts with controversy

  • Apple is not a Monopoly. Jobs and his team created a brand, like a fanzy club where dress code is enforced, and only pretty people can enter. That's what Apple created a brand where certain people can have access. This way you keep "ugly" people away. Jobs is selling you what people want, and that is "I'm special" Jobs is making Apple users feel they are more special than Android users or any other.

  • listening to how this guys speaks, his mannerisms etc, i realize justin timberlake did a great job playing him

  • @bouyon4dmasiv or the caster picked the right person, the director directed correctly, the support staff and other actors helped him in his acting. You pick ;)

  • @abarford1 lol you cant seriously be trying to suggest that justin's performance is more due to the efforts of everybody else! it just sounds like you have something against Justin. in any case, yes the caster did pick the right person, justin was perfect for the job. kudos justin on a great audition!

  • @bouyon4dmasiv Yes thats what I'm saying, lets see him try a diffrent role, the caster did a great job finding sombody who acted, sounded and somewhat looked like Parker. Justin isn't an actor he's a freggen singer ya muppet

  • @abarford1 if he's not an actor then what's he doing acting?

    HAHA

fyi this isnt the first OR the last movie justin's acted in, it's called singer/actor.

there's a bunch of different people who couldve played sean, its how your audition goes. so FUCK THIS. the guy did a good job

  • @bouyon4dmasiv

no he didnt... he's totally different in person.

  • @bouyon4dmasiv he did actually.

  • @bouyon4dmasiv Technically you cannot compare a movie to a real life situation, Because this guy is asked a question and has to come up with an answer on the spot. Whereas Justin Timberlake, had to memorise [memorize] a script. Think about it.

  • @TheMystifySive i wasnt comparing the movie to a real life situation, im seeing this interview of sean, and noticing traits that i felt justin pulled off in the movie, which led me to state that he did a good job playing him. its like if i stutter alot when i talk, and some chick has to play me and she stutters the same way i do, someone watching the gig would say this chick did a great job playing me, THATS ALL IM SAYING

  • adam inciden bahsediyor.dağılın beyler.fsadada

  • What a prick

  • @supermario103 Clearly you don't understand him. What he is trying to say is that if you download music from anything other than iTunes (i.e. Rhapsody), you can not transfer it to your iPod. The formats aren't the same which means you can not put them on something like a Zune or any other music player.

  • @chammer221 who cares? download an mp3 and boom shake your money maker.

  • @chammer221 i have 1000 songs all family guy american dad and cleaveland show eps on my ipod and it took less than 5 mins to download them all from different websites such as familyguyx letmewatchthis and youtube and with music limewire shareza and internet sites and convert them all into my ipod format and vice versa where i can change them to another format. it really is nothing when you know what your doing

  • @chammer221 - no, you are confused, you can put ANYTHING that is standard on an iPod, iPad, iPhone, Mac, etc... Apple only uses OPEN standards so there is no lockin. You are thinking of "Microsoft" where they use proprietary formats so you can't move around, but Apple is fully open. Download from Amazon, Rhapsody, or a CD, the iPod, etc will play it with great fidelity. That's why the iPod is so popular, it plays anything.

  • Sean, you are a tosser. How the fuck are you a voice for anything.

  • That's why I.................PIRATE BAY!

  • @ChuckNorrisKratosLOL I would have taken your admonishment of narrow-mindedness more seriously if wasn't framed with such narrow-minded language. I'm sure you don't have to be a pot-smoker to believe that most businessmen don't give a shit about the individual. Personally i never touch the stuff; pot or business, and i don't really care about money, i hate it, in fact...which is why i make sure to get rid of what little i ever have. Honestly, though my comment was made in jest more than anything

  • That's' why I buy CDs and mp3s from big pond music. I don't see what's wrong with CDs, I mean it's better quality I just have to wait longer.

  • aaaaand that's why I buy mp3's from amazon, and have them auto imported to itunes. More than one file format never hurts.

  • lol.... if honestly thats a problem, most people just download iTunes... thats how Apple makes more money. it forces ppl to use iTunes to use their iPod,which introduces them to the iTunes Store...

he makes it seem its a problem for Apple cuz ppl with Napster or Rhapsody cant put their music on iPods... well they should make them in mp3 format and give us the real song fucker. im tired of this DRM shit. peace.

  • steve jobs pwned them all

  • This guy is all smoke and mirrors. He's a good speaker but he doesn't really say much when you think about it. Nothing new anyways.

  • this is bullshit. 90 percent of the poor kids at my school had off brand mp3 players

  • Look at the other guys... Old World / The New World Order!! This guy is fast. The old ones are trying to look.. important.. and understand what he is talking about!

  • Sean Parker is so far out of the loop. People have ALWAYS been able to burn CDs to their computers and then put the music on the iPod. In fact that's how it was when the iPod got started because there was no iTune music store. When Apple did launch the music store it was the record companies who wanted DRM. And being that Apple had the biggest product at the time it was only logical that they create the defacto DRM and license it to everyone. But other music services went to Microsoft instead.

  • I wouldn't trust this guy with even my hair brush...

  • "Sean, what do you think about this?"

    "It's really tricky.."

"What are your thoughts on this, Sean?"

    "You know, its really tricky..."

  • I have a Sansa clip and a Youtube MP3 converter. Beats an IPOD everyday.

  • sean looks like fag

  • Apple DEVIANTLY takes advantage of stupid people and makes millions of dollars. These stupid people then turn around and act pretentious. Fuck you Apple

  • your screwed..

  • @YoungBurger

It may be changing, but it's not that fast. Most people I know have smartphones AND iPods, yet still listen to music on their iPods.

  • one fly muthaluver

  • i dont get y hes getting sued. it doesnt sound like evil, it sounds like business..

  • @niggerhigger1030 it's because in America you have to be someone to make billions

  • @niyahlanya wtf r u talking abt?? most billionaires started out as nothing. bill gates was just a kid interested in computers

  • @niggerhigger1030 business and evil...aren't they literally the exact same thing? If you look up "evil" in the dictionary doesn't it says "see business"?

  • Comment removed

  • @niggerhigger1030 Sean parker is a poser. He is not a businessman.

  • @zjbeast Businessman are mostly posers... business is just about having a babyface and convincing people of investing their money on your business... really its nothing more...

That was the big buzz about Bill gates, the dud was a businessman with technical skills, real technical skills, he was a programmer, a great programmer and even paul allen acknowledged it.

  • @hectorcaceres04 Very true. Bill Gates is a magnificent person.,. Just like Buffett.

  • @hectorcaceres04 - but Apple doesn't work that way... they've never been in it for the money, it's all about making the world a better place. Sure, money is a side effect of that effort, and helps people in the process, but employees don't work at Apple to make a lot of money, the culture doesn't allow it.

  • @niggerhigger1030 Its not like they are mutually exclusive terms is it?

JPmorgan, zuckerburg, goldman sachs, mcdonalds, cocacola, halliburton, carlysle group. BP, shell, exxon, gap, nike, ...i could go on with the list of evil corporate entities but they are all synonymous with very evil deeds and ruthlessness.

makes very good busness sense to be evil---its how you make a BIIIIIIIIIIILLION DOLLARS- just like doctor erm... Evil?

  • @niggerhigger1030 Aren't those synonyms?

  • 250 million ipods vs over a bilion phones and about 200 milion mp3 players sold world wide? and you tell me to get my facts right moron?

Apple fanboy, go suck Steve Job's dick.

  • Pretentious

  • @RavenHouseProduction no, just you

  • is this guy a retard? More people listen to music on their cell phone than on the iPod. Talk about paranoyed freaks...

  • @RavenHouseProduction .... in eastern europe perhaps...

  • @opilime lol yea

  • @opilime yeah, cause we don't need a shity little white device, made by a company with exclusive and expensive pieces of crap, with a half eaten apple on them...

  • @RavenHouseProduction need or can't afford ?

  • @opilime I got a HTC HD, you think I can't afford a piece of crap like an iPod?

  • @RavenHouseProduction I'm not saying that you could'nt afford it

  • @RavenHouseProduction

    Get YOUR facts straight...retard.

The iPod is the most used music player in the world. That overrides phones, smartphones, and any other mp3 in the world.

    Bitch.

  • Comment removed

  • So it seems that the takeaway is that music distribution will remain monopolized until a superior/cheaper mp3 player emerges.

  • I somehow agree with him.. I always thought that Apple is not convenient with their own format of everything... & I refuse to use anything of Apple's for that reason...

  • :*

  • his comments refer to the average music consumer, which are uninformed. that's why they chose to buy songs in apple's own format instead of the more popular format that's the mp3, which is supported by practically all the other mp3 players on the market.

  • You can put music on the iPod from any source. I didn't know he was this dumb.

  • And, this guy is considered a blilliant guy. Shit, really? Did people pay to hear this?

  • @romansmk You're judging his brilliance on a minute and a half long clip?

  • @romansmk how dare you, he's a retarded genius

  • you can easily move content to and from the ipod if you use 3rd party software. Its out there and works fine (I use it on a 30gb video ipod).

  • @KingOfShadows92 well if no one can rival it then it doesnt have any competition does it

  • @KingOfShadows92 I agree if the other companies was able to keep up and be innovative they would have done what apple have done or even be better then the ipod.

  • I don't agree at all. Apple does have competition, but its competition fails - time and time again - to deliver a product as technologically impressive as the iPod. And while Apple does control content with Itunes, it is only because no other company can rival its convenience and easy use.

  • Apple is a corporatist corporation who hates any competition. They believe patents create a monopoly of ideas. Patents are how we do things with our ideas. Apple's definition of patents stifles any creativity and does not allow the market to improve upon bad products and compete with poor business models. It rewards laziness and failure.

  • i so agree
