  • The Beach Boys did disco, too.

  • "Tim" was Johnny's stepson. He was a kid when Johnny married his mother in 1972 and grew up living with his mom and Johnny until they divorced in the early 80's.

  • That album even got a bad review in 'AFTER DARK".

  • Disco had definitely 'jumped the shark" by this time. Ouch. Ethel! How could you!

  • A&M released Ethel Merman's disco album but shelved Karen Carpenter's? WTF?!

  • She knew this was an abomination. She laughed all the way to the bank.

  • Peter Matz was a genius. Great arrangements with Babs.

  • This perhaps the worst album ever. I absolutely love it!!!!

  • A dark time in America. Hey, Pink Floyd (Another Brick in the Wall), The Stones (Miss You), and Blondie (Heart of Glass were cashing in on disco, (or at least the beat).

  • Broadway classics with a disco beat? I guess Ethel had to make a living!

  • i love the Merm as much as the next homosexual, but a disco album? really? how did i not know she did this?! in a word: WOW!

(yea, now i have to find that album, i gotta hear this!:)

  • Its quite a novelty. It is still in print on CD. Good luck on a vinyl copy though....

  • Thanx, i bet if i can't find it on Ebay, i should be able to come across someone who has it and willing to trade/sell to me...thats how i got my hands on the audio of a performance from her in "Gypsy" on Broadway! After my audio of Jennifer Holliday's last performance on Broadway in "Dreamgirls" its one of my prized possessions in my collection! :)

  • .,..and she promoted it!!! brilliant. i love Ethel!!!

  • Could you post some clips of her singing her disco stuff? :) Must be camp classic!

  • Johnny does not interrupt her all the time, he is in fact a classy host, very deferring to her and warm, all that and flying high on pure Colombian cocaine. Pretty cool. And Ethel is perfection. They don't make 'em like that anymore.

  • I have it. You can get in on Amazon.

  • I noticed you didn't include her performing any numbers from the album. For that, we thank you.

  • i love her

  • Absolutely incredible that you saved this on tape! I remember when this Ethel Merman Disco album came out and Ethel did some gay club dates in San Francisco.

  • Too bad she isn't around to sing Broadway Hip hop.

  • I got ridm.

  • There's no bin'ness like show bin'ness!

  • Der's... (yo!)

  • Jeez, you would think he'd let her speak, and not talk over over her the whole time. That would really piss me off!

  • FRANK SINATRA said it right:"U CAN WAIT AROUND AND HOPE ,BUT YOU"LL NEVER C THE LIKE"S OF THIS AGAIN" ETHEL ALWAY"S GAVE ME A SMILE,SUCH A BROADWAY LEGEND,MISS HER SO!!!!

  • Just so everyone knows, Johnny started out with a Georgie Jessel impersonation! lOL Thanks for the post:)

  • Ooops, stupid me. I found it.

  • You don't have the song, do you???

  • Wonderful to see her being interview kinda seriously.

  • she was a legend. I'm glad you saved the moments on tape
