How off center was the drawing anyways?? Obama said he wants swift justice for terrorists. And he's trying to recreate our form of government by destroying the free market and controlling everything.
Feels like Obama is burning the flag everyday, if you ask me. Tells us everyday how rotten america is, his attorney general says we're cowards and racist, his wife says she's never been proud of this country until it elected her husband.
Democrats could say the same terrible things of the republican party if they wanted to be quote-mining retards, but unfortunately they have morals.
If you are going to join with the talking heads saying that Obama is destroying freedom and democracy (in the light of the last president, should your memory serve you that far), then you have given up any desire to be taken seriously.
I didn't. But your rhetoric is unfair, not to mention very unoriginal.
Mimicking jesters like Rush Limbaugh isn't interesting or enlightened. While I'm personally convinced of the mediocrity of human life, I reserve many subscribers of Republican values (not to say conservative) occupy a lower strata still.
Saying that Obama is burning the flag (figuratively, I understand) is grossly offensive to us who value democracy.
Now name one way in which he has reduced your rights.
@olafsirpab he's reduced our rights by forcing people to buy medical insurance. Arguably, he's the most fascistic president we've ever had. For all the slamming of GWB in this thread, he didn't confiscate private companies, loot them to pay off the unions and rip off investors. He didn't take over 20% of the economy and put it in the government's control (health care). He didn't try to cripple the energy industry and drive companies out of business for ideological reasons. Or triple the US debt.
@olafsirpab not to mention, you're a fucking bigot. I would never presume to say all leftists are intellectually retarded, anti-american communist leaning assholes who are real generous with other people's money in the name of "fairness". You don't stereotype a group like that. But Barry Soetoro is. Too bad the press can't cover for his incompetence and idiotic mistakes and gaffes anymore.
Excuse me...... a republican could have easily won the election. Mitt Romney could have. Politics is all about mojo. Whoever's got the mojo is the president.
BTW, Christ is my only hero. Don't forget it, man. You have some weird hangup where one can't compliment someone on the good they've done without them being their "hero".
So let me get this straight. Some people have been duped into thinking Democrats are soft on national security while at the same time the McCain campaign insinuates that Obama is a terrorist and don't have him arrested? or detained for questioning? Under a Bush national security plan a terrorist can make it all the way to be a presidential nominee? hahahha The uneducated republican underbelly is an embarrassment to white people.
Jesus, you Americans always surprise. Even the smart ones! Why the fuck do you people pay so much attention to this bullshit? Do ANY of you have any idea how you look to the rest of the world? Perhaps you don't give a shit. But, believe me, the rest of the world does! It's not actually "all about you"!
And I'm glad you said that ja5dalegend, you have restored my faith somewhat. I grew up loving what I saw of American culture. Jamaal Wilkes, Majic Johnson, Stevie Wonder etc etc etc. Then I grew up and learned a few things. I still like many Americans, eg Noam Chomksy, Bruce Shapiro etc etc etc :) But I really do hate the conservative, religious, flag waving side of your culture. The power and the paranoia that labels everything different "dangerous" or "evil". One world, one people, I think :)
Who was it in History that was ranting and raving about the economy to gain high office! Who was it that complained about his predecessors to gain confidence of the people ?! Who was it that lied about his agenda to conquer the world?! Who was it that killed six million Jews?! Who will repeat that NOW! Wake up!!
Obama says McCain is right an incredible 12 TIMES in the first debate. Bet Obama's handlers will be teaching him to stop that for the next debate. LOL!
So you think the two candidates need to disagree on everything to run against each other?
As a matter of fat, they do agree on most things, it just only makes sense to debate the things they disagree about.
So when the two do agree on a topic, Obama happens to be polite enough to say "Your right." But thats just because Obama is a polite person, McCain is not.
Thing is many conservatives and particularly their Christian evangelical supporters believe every single reference in that cartoon to be true. Right-wing pundits like Anne Coulter constantly raise these issues, and she herself famously brings up Obama's middle name. Conservative media mentions Obama's indonesian upbringing and constantly talks about Wright's speech, Farrakhan and even Hamas. It's almost like the media knows that if mentioned enough the ignorant masses will make the association.

This is a repost, as requested If the post is GOOD ! BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA IS A LIAR HE IS ARAB. NOT BLACK american, SEE HIS great "WORK " IN ILLINOIS ! SEARCH: The Audacity of Barack Obama 2 Obama's forgotten people Chicagoan Tells Truth About Obama HIS ancestors were arab slave traders who sold black africans. BHMO's ancestors did not SUFFERED SLAVERY, THEY INFLICTED IT ! RE-POST
you are so so so so so lucky to live outside the american main stream media manipulation and spin. so lucky to be able to live without over 2 million folks watching Fox News and thinking its the gospel.
man, a recent study found that 20% of adult americans think the sun revolves around the earth...my humble opinion is this: with millions of americans stupid enough to believe the sun revolves around the earth, how can i be surprised that 12% of americans think obama is a muslim? at some point we have to come clean---we have "dumbed-down" our society, and what we see today is the result of that process. (news tell folks what to think instead of facts--folks too lazy to think 4 themselves)
In a country that voted for Bush 2 TIMES - I just can't believe that this lampoon of Obama in full Muslim garb - flag burning - terrorist - was meant as satire to show that these rumors are ridiculous. They've had to have seen PUNY in action and the others who actually believe Obama is Muslim. Where'd they get that from when Obama has said over and over he is not. This "joke" is suspect for outright propaganda. Maybe Hillary or McSame pushing the pics would've been funny, but not this.
I thought the cover was hilarious. The artist that did this one is very good. The characters look so much like the Obamas.
Don't get the wrong idea, though. I love Barack and Michelle, and will be voting for Barack in November, but I realize that political cartoons have always gone over the top during election years. The Republican fears are so ridiculous that I have already laughed them off, so it's no big deal. The New Yorker magazine saw an opportunity, and they went for it. Very clever.

The real problem with this cover is that it was not clear that it was lampooning the GOP campaign. Far too many people believe the lies and smears.
McCain and Palin are still running these outrageous lies and still being believed. People look at the cover, and don't read the story.

The last statement Rachel made was the truest.
Everyone has a right to say what they want, and everyone has a right to complain as loud as they want.
I subscribe to the New Yorker, and receive it faithfully every week.
Some how this week's copy was not delivered.
I'm hoping it was just delayed.
I tried to buy one this morning, but they were sold out.
If I can't get another one delivered, I will truly be disappointed, I want to read the articles.
The cover is only offensive to some.
