  • This is a really great performance. Genuine, skilled, and although you didn't change the arrangement, It is all BluegrassBarry. Thanks for posting.

  • Great Cover =)

  • @skank101266 thank you. glad my video could help. that bridge is a little tricky for sure.

  • great anthemic song and a great cover. i like the way you sing it!

  • Wepaaaaaaaaaaa, Greetings from the great state of New York, thanks for the song.

  • sounds good man

and i know it's a tough song to cover

    I'm just learning it

  • @1958wvpicker thank you and yes, it certainly is

  • what a tough song to cover...great job man

  • @dawsontohof thank you for saying..... it is a tought one you know, the bridge is really hard to keep straight both lyrically and chordwise.

  • I love the humor in this toward the end, it falls apart beautifully like a collapsing bubble. Hey it happens, thanks for keeping it real. Cheers!

  • great job

  • awesome cover!! can u tell me the chords please?

  • Cool version...Love it!!

  • this is a great cover. you have an incredibly sweet voice and totally inject your version with the emotion that jerry was able to put into it when he sang. loved it, thank you.

  • very mellow vocal style, just like Jerry. you just earned yourself a subscriber. lol keep em coming.

  • pretty good man

  • I just learned the diddie from jdarks gratefuldead touch of gray @5:50.Played along with you and it sounded nice!

  • amazing job =] 5/5

  • He does! That's a great comparison :)

  • Man i love the dead, I'm only 17 but I've been fanatical about em for 4 years now, i play the guitar too..you did this song justice man, you got a really pleasant voice too. great job

  • thank you mart and all who left such nice comments.

  • good job man!

  • far out . just got a GDead songbook in SF over new years and have been tryin to figger this one out . you are my favorite tutor on youtube ... thx barry !

  • nice job man your the only vid i'v seen covering this song acousticaly who got the ABS,s chords right. i'v been trying to find a tab you it the way you play it but i can't find one. do you know where i can get one?

  • i like it, your voice is sweet :)

  • Nice dude. I also got the abc`s from your post, thanks. But my question is this, Is this song written (musically and lyrically by jerry or hunter). I was always in the understaning that this was completly jerrys.

  • as always Hunter wrote the words, Jerry wrote the music. I don't think Jerry ever penned lyrics. Weir also worked with two lyricists, John Barlowe and another guy.

  • Excellent job Barry! You nailed it. GBTGD

  • Hey that was beautiful..it reminded me of the first time I saw it played live...by Hunter in a small bar around these parts, long before it made it onto the Deads album. I could never figure out the chords at the "its a lesson to me" part( but then again, I am real lazy about such things)..now I know! so thanks for that too! Peace, Pat

  • thanks for you comments taylor & flash. I screw up the bridge about 8 times in 10. I screwed it up here at one point near the end.

  • cool
