I want to say, the game and concept are brilliant. This is a great game and a wonderful idea for future gaming. That being said I also want to get in my two cents about spyro. To me, it just feels like spyro was thrown in. This is missing too many main characters to feel like a spyro game. Call me wrong but I cant get the feel of spyro without sparx or any of the elder dragons. But skylanders is still a swee game, just not spyro sweet.
Great point! People cridisize games based on graphics and characters. Shure people complain it's life. But as he said PLAY THE GAME FIRST then complain! I love spyro he was my favorite character when I was little. Now I'm 21 and I still love that purple dragon.

I'm playing Skylanders right now and having the time of my life. Seriously, this is like a marriage of my two favorite hobbies, video games and figure collecting.

Funny thing: Skylanders has got the reviews as good as the original three games XD (just go to Metacritic and you'll see Skylanders only under Spyro the Dragon of 1998 :D). And I think it sold well too.
The idea is fairly nice for one, it's very marketable and attracts all ages. The figures themselves are very detailed, if you look at them. This appeals to collectors for one, and just adds to the level of "DOWANT" for kids. I like how it was advertised as well, sort of felt like a bit of a story. I still prefer the original games, totally played the hell out of them when I was younger :>

Ok, I won't lie and say that my anitial reaction to this game was something along the lines of, "Oh good God, what the hell have they done to Spyro? This is an insult."
But since I loved every single classic, and I loved The Legend series even more, I will give it a try - despite the fact that they made Spyro look really ugly and added loads of random characters that have nothing to do with the franchise.

Calssics fans at least shouldn't complain so much.I can say as a devoted Classics fan that Activision and Toys for Bob tried and undeniably succeeded in make a game not identical to but VERY similar to the Classic Spyro games.There's a tiny bit of LOS in there,but ONLY a TINY bit,Classic still overshadows BIG TIME.Clearly they did listen to the Classic fan a bit,but just changed it a bit to introduce him to a new audience like you said.

@harrydinh13 yes its $70 which is a very good priced game (for ps3) idk about other consoles because regularly priced new ps3 games are $60+the portal+3 skylanders+batteries and USB if you bought that all alone it could easily come to $100+

Bought the game yesterday and must say its great. Now im thinking witch characters to add in game :) I like it, my wife like it, win win. Even here where i live, i noticed that media criticized the game before they had even played it, caus its activisions and with toys, blaa blaa blaa. Game is great, its not spyro,but its great :)

I get what your saying, and I agree with the fanbase thing. i've been a Spyrofan without touching a game for over five years, what really matters to me is the storyline, and also the sugestivity (Is that even a word?) In Cyn's new desighn is driving me nuts. I don't love Spyro for the gameplay, but it seams that this will be rather lacking in the story/charecters department. If you can switch charecters how can you really give them personalities?

I love the Skylanders game, I also love the Spyro series. To me, this game is fresh air to the ones that were considered awful. It's gone back to it's roots, and have installed a lot more characters into it. I just hope that Skylanders would encourage younger audiences to remember Spyro more.

They should've gone with the original concept with the older Spyro. It would've made soooo much more sense. I would feel so stupid playing with little kids toys for a Spyro game. But I loved the old concept of growing with Spyro, and watching his story unravel through the games. I do not want to feel like a freaking five year old to have my childhood raped in front of me
I'm getting this game, no matter what. I'm just one of those Spyro fans that has to have every game Spyro has ever been in. I've enjoyed every Spyro game that I've played, including Enter the Dragonfly, Hero's Tale, and the LOS series, and I'm going to enjoy this game.

Toys for Bob have made a fantastic twist on things, I have been a complete Spyro's player since the 1st Trio of games for PS1 - Which are utter classics. Heroes and Dragonfly games are great too, though I've never completed Heroes to this day (due to item collection). LOS Series was ingenius how they added a big twist on the spyro gaming franchise. When I heard of Skylanders I had to research it, and I think it is an amazing idea! WTG Toys for Bob.. ^^..

People who prejudge these games BEFORE even playing them are not playing with a full deck. How would u know it sucks? I get what your saying, and I agree with the fanbase thing. i've been a Spyrofan without touching a game for over five years, what really matters to me is the storyline, and also the sugestivity (Is that even a word?) In Cyn's new desighn is driving me nuts. I don't love Spyro for the gameplay, but it seams that this will be rather lacking in the story/charecters department. If you can switch charecters how can you really give them personalities?

I love the Skylanders game, I also love the Spyro series. To me, this game is fresh air to the ones that were considered awful. It's gone back to it's roots, and have installed a lot more characters into it. I just hope that Skylanders would encourage younger audiences to remember Spyro more.

@ninjastick200 I wasn't comparing COD to Spyro.I was just saying how bizzare it is that games are bashed for not changing much,like COD, and when something is done different in a certain franchise,i.e. Spyro,people lose their minds.And if you hate Skylanders,fine.Just give me a solid reason as to why it sucks,for example if it's not fun to play,instead of saying the character design sucks,then we can all go home happy and play Crash Team Racing :D

They should've gone with the original concept with the older Spyro. It would've made soooo much more sense. I would feel so stupid playing with little kids toys for a Spyro game. You can say all you want. But so can I. And I hate this game all the way. I grew up with Spyro games. I've played all of them. But I loved the old concept of growing with Spyro, and watching his story unravel through the games. I do not want to feel like a freaking five year old to have my childhood raped in front of me

I'm getting this game, no matter what. I'm just one of those Spyro fans that has to have every game Spyro has ever been in. I've enjoyed every Spyro game that I've played, including Enter the Dragonfly, Hero's Tale, and the LOS series, and I'm going to enjoy this game.

i can see why they change the look of spyro. personally, i would get tired of the same old spyro. I wouldn't want activision to keep making spyro games like in spyro the dragon. If they did, you would kinda already know what is going to happen. collect things, beat up bosses, save the realm. Toys for Bob have made a fantastic twist on things, I have been a complete Spyro's player since the 1st Trio of games for PS1 - Which are utter classics. Heroes and Dragonfly games are great too, though I've never completed Heroes to this day (due to item collection). LOS Series was ingenius how they added a big twist on the spyro gaming franchise. When I heard of Skylanders I had to research it, and I think it is an amazing idea! WTG Toys for Bob.. ^^..

People who prejudge these games BEFORE even playing them are not playing with a full deck. How would u know it sucks? I remember when trolls all thought Nintendo was wrong when making Zelda the Wind Waker game. They were wrong then, so it is possible they are wrong now, too.
