This song is a great ice breaker. If your a guy and you are near a piano and you see a girl you want to get to know, play this piece. There are a couple of other's that work to. I found at an early age that this hits the emotional spot on most women. Be advised this does not work if all you can play is chop stick's :-).
i am only 13 and i play this song. i don't want to be rude but i think i play this piece better. if you want to check it out then go to my channel. :)
Wow! vVery good and the music runs smoothly.......amazing....
I am playing this song and having a hard time on the 13th and the 14th measure and also did not learn the 3rd page.....trying to learn it by myself..........any advice?
Good interpretation. Almost any other pianist (including myself) would play it slower. But by playing it like this does better work out the anger, fear and dark contemplation that´s in this piece. This is no romantic kitsch piece, it goes deeper - I would compare it to the raindrop prelude.
a lot of this is drawn from good acoustics. she is nevertheless able to use this to advantage to bring out tone. but still, it's not the most profound rubato
wow nice passage work at end of first line, 0:21 theres a deflating sound or liek some kind of airplain projectile cuz the playing is so good something goes off
i wish they'd tuned the piano better though especially for the notes at 0.30 and 0.51 and 0.58 and 1.27 ish. etc etc it's truly painful for us lot with perfect pitch!!!!
yo también soy un fanático de riempo completo de Chopin, me fascinan sus nocturnos, sus valsesm en fin, toda su obra sin excepción, soy un adicto a su música, el grado de sensibilidad que maneja me conmueve hasta lo mas íntimo,

im working on this piece. its much harder than it looks especially the third page. there are bits where you have to play triplets with quavers and piles of other hard stuff. im twelve and im thinking of giving up on this piece...
Never give up. Seriously. You will regret it. Play the hard parts so insanely slow that you can't possibly mess up and slowly but surely increase the speed.
yeah my teacher wont let me give up on the piece and im starting to get the hang of stuff now. im trying to be able to play it fluently by july (my birthday) or by the school music festival so if i beat the whole school then i get to perform solo. there is one problem- im twelve and the rest who participate are 18... i will attemt it anyway and the judjes might let me win cos im so young...
This piece gives a beautiful insight of the unique quality of Chopin's genius--his originality-- at the very beginning of his career. A sense of extended melodic and harmonic flow which he continued to develop and enrich for the rest of his relatively short life.
i agree with you ist like they dont feel emotion but there tecnic is awsome better than my but they just cant play the piece like it is ment to play maybe because all the composers are european

This is such a hauntingly beautiful piece. It reminds me of my visit to the impoverished people of Rumania who, despite their hardships, can still smile friendly and share bread with strangers.
This was not Chopin's last Nocturne! (It might appear last in some editions, because it was published in 1894, 45 years after the composer's death. Chopin didn't even call it a Nocturne, but "Lento con gran espressione". He composed it in 1830. If we consider this a Nocturne, it is the second, the first being the E minor, composed in 1827 but published in 1855, 6 years after the composer's death.
(His first published Nocturnes are Opus 9, composed in 1830-31, and published in 1833.
chopin nocturne #20? i am trying to figure out the version exactly as well and all I have in my book is "Nocturne Op. 72, No.1", "Nocturne Op. 55, No.1", and "Nocturne (Posthumous)" - I'm a tad confused...
Probably the best performance of the piece on youtube, beautiful... I play this too, but there are a lot of differences in my sheet music compared to what you play and now I don't know, what is the original version

A nocturne should'nt be like this. Emotionless and dead. Sounds like you're forced to play it
MiserablePathetique 3 years ago
I think You are right. Its too robotic. Also te notes are played too "hard", not played like a nocturne.
That means NOT, too play it more "kitschy". Just more dynamics. But the way she plays it, the peace tells no story, there is no tension.
Technically its played well, but that's not all.
haioforler 2 years ago 5
she does't just lack variation in her dynamics but in her tempo as well. something about it is so orderly
